Chapter 117 A fire
Chapter 117 A fire
Scarlett's POV.
“Come with me” Christian dragged my hand and moved me away from the men. His grip on me was tight and the sound of our footsteps was the only thing that broke through the silence in the room.
Everyone had their eyes fixed on us as we exited. Christian dragged me towards the stairs and just before we could start the ascension, Ethan appeared before us.
He had a smirk on his face and his eyes were solely fixed on me. “Sister-in-law, you are so amazing”
His lips were opened and rounded. “Woah! I didn't know you were this bold”
I didn't know whether to take that as a compliment or to think of it as the beginning of my doom.
The boldness could get me into trouble. No, it looked like it was already getting me.
The men almost got me scared there, if not that Christian intervened.
“Move out of the way, Ethan” Christian’s dark voice rose, not letting me reply to his brother.
It wasn't like I had anything to say, I couldn't think of what to reply to him with.
Ethan moved out of the stairway without a word and Christian dragged me up the stairs.
As we moved, I could hear the music resuming and screams from the people partying renting the air.
Christian walked me up the stairs to where seemed to be the third floor.
That way, the music was fading into the background, showing we were far away from the partying hall.
Christian let go of me harshly and my back almost hit the wall.
He pinned me to the middle of the wall with his hands beside me.
“What the fuck do you think you are doing?” He growled.
What does he mean? Defending those girls?
“Who the fuck do you think you are?” He continued. “A feminist? Human rights advocate?” he scoffed.
I also scoffed at him. “Then what?” my voice was raised, anger creeping into my body.
“Just watch as they harass those girls?” I rolled my eyes. “I thought you were a fucking good person? But you were going to watch injustice done to girls without doing anything about it?”
“This place is a dark web,” he said, pointing nowhere in particular. “Everyone knew that before they came here!”
I laughed. “Bullshit! That's not a fucking excuse!”
“Even if they know where it was, the fact that she didn't want him to touch her means she didn't! And he should have respected that” I kept ranting and Christian kept staring at me.
I didn't know maybe he couldn't understand me anymore or if he was just holding himself back from saying all that's on his mind.
“Mr. Walter needs to be arrested and thrown into prison for doing drugs and letting women get harassed” I smacked my tongue and moved my face to the side.
I was only hoping that there was something I'd be able to do to punish that man.
There were a lot of illegal things being done here, I shouldn't have come but my curiosity was what had me crawling here with Christian.
I turned my eyes back to Christian and was quite shocked that he was still on the same spot, standing and staring at me the same way.
"What's the problem?” I asked.
I was hesitant. My words were slow and my voice was low. “The only problem right now is….” He paused. “I want to kiss you so badly”
My eyes widened in surprise and my cheeks flushed at his words. I blinked and before I could get over my shock, Christian moved closer, placing his lips on my lips and twirling our tongues together in an instant.
Every energy to argue and talk back suddenly drained out of me like an ice cream melting.
I got my eyes closed, kissing him back the same way he was doing to me.
All of a sudden, I could feel like someone was watching us from the corners.
I was so much in love with the kiss, I didn't want it to stop so I didn't push Christian away.
But maybe he wanted the kiss to end because he broke it just seconds after I thought about it.
He turned his gaze to the side and I could swear Christian was having the same thoughts as me.
That someone was there just now, watching us.
“You think there's someone watching?” I asked.
He didn't respond to my question. He only moved away from me and walked to where we had both thought someone was watching us.
He stared through the hallway that led to the bathrooms with a darkened gaze but there was no one there.
His gaze squinted. I also felt like someone was watching and the person stayed long watching us.
Christian returned back to me. “We must have been mistaken. There's no one” he said.
I nodded and when I lifted my eyes to look at him again, his eyes were on my lips.
I swallowed hard. I also want his lips back on my lips, I just couldn't bring myself to tell him.
He leaned in closer and I also closed my eyes slowly, waiting for his lips to make contact with mine.
The wait felt like eternity. I couldn't wait to explore his mouth and have him explore mine.
His breath fanned against my face as he moved closer to me. I couldn't say if Christian was doing this intentionally because it felt like he was making me restless, wanting him.
Just as his lips almost touched mine, we heard screams coming from the partying hall, the fading sound of music suddenly going off.
I snapped my gaze open and Christian also leaned back.
At that moment, I realized that there was smoke. The smoke was becoming too much, blurring everywhere and hurting my eyes.
Christian held my hand firmly as we checked what was wrong.
A fire had broken out and unfortunately, it was trapping us on the third floor.
