Chapter 114 It's all fun

Chapter 114 It's all fun
Scarlett’s POV.

The host of the party lifted his gaze and our eyes met.

I didn't know whether to take my gaze away or whether to hold his gaze but I did one.

I held his gaze and he smiled seeing Christian and I standing together.

He said a few words to the people he was standing with and walked to us.

“You really brought her,” he said when he got to us.

I bowed slightly and politely. “Mr. Walter, a good evening to you”

He patted my shoulder and I suddenly felt chills run over my body.

Christian had talked about him being a dangerous man but I didn't want to believe mainly based on his words, I wanted to see for myself.

And this party, though it didn't show it all, it actually says something about him.

This is the kind of man he is.

“Welcome.” He smiled at me and I returned the smile.

“So, what do you think about this party?” He turned me around and made me run my eyes everywhere.

The place was more vast than I had looked earlier.

There was no sort of illegal activity that wouldn't be happening here.

There was also a mini casino where people played games and gambled.

“This place is terrifying” I gave my honest review.

He laughed, his laughter roaring across the room even though no one gave him attention as his sound couldn't tower over the loud music being played.

While the laugh died on his tongue, he faced Christian.

“You heard her? She said the place is terrifying!”

Then his face went back to the cold one that made him look more powerful and rich than he really was.

“You should enjoy the party,” he said. “This place is more like my playground where I have all the fun I want to have in the whole world,” he said.

He patted my shoulder first, then patted Christian next before he disappeared into the crowd, heading back to his mates probably.

I looked around and while I did that, my eyes landed on someone I didn't expect I'd see here.

“I’ll be back” I tapped Christian and hurried into the crowd while following the back of the person I was looking for.

When I finally got to him, I stopped him by spinning him around. I wasn't mistaken, it was really Logan.

His face turned into a look of surprise when he saw me.

We moved away from the crowded place to the bartender’s counter.

“How did you find your way here?” He asked, his face still cladded with surprise.

I think I should be the one asking him that.

“I came here with my husband. What about you?” I asked him.

He nodded his head. “Right. Your husband is a popular businessman, he would know Mr. Walter”

“They must be so close for him to be invited here,” he added.

It made my forehead crease. “Did he invite only people who are close to him?”

“Then all these people dancing are all close to him?” I asked, my lips parting in disbelief.

I stared at the stage and the number of people who danced surprised me. He knew all these people?

Before I could finish what I was processing, a knock came on my head. Logan had tapped my forehead with two of his fingers.

I looked at him with my face twitching as I rubbed my forehead which still hurts.

“What have I done?” I yelled at him with a glare.

“He isn't close with all those people. They are just random people picked from the streets to come to a party” he explained. “The only people who are invited as VIPs are the people he's close with”

I nodded in understanding. “So, how do you know him?”

Logan looked around until his gaze landed on Mr. Walter who was seated on a sofa, old men sitting beside him as they talked.

“He was a close businessman with my father before he died,” he said. “After Dad died, he kept reaching out like a Dad would do”

Logan turned his gaze to me and smiled. “So he's more like a godfather to me”

From everything he said, my ears got hung on a word. His father’s death.

We had reconciled again after losing each other and it had been months now, but I was just realizing that I never asked about how his father was doing.

“I'm sorry about his death. I’m sorry I never bothered to ask about him” I apologized.

Logan chuckled. “What the hell is wrong with you? Why are your eyes getting teary?”

“People’s deaths aren't your fault. It happened because it had to” he said.

“Even Finn too” he said and my breath hitched, my throat tightening.

I wanted to cry again. Cry it all out and blame myself like I had always done.

Logan handed me a handkerchief, nudging me to take it from him.

“Here” he said. “You can cry all you want, but know it isn't your fault”

“He died because his time was up. He was destined to die that way the way he did”

“Do you understand?” Logan asked with a stern voice.

I found myself nodding my head and sniffling back my tears.

Instead of crying, I'd just find the person who did it.

Christian got to where I was and I realized he had been searching all around for me.

“Here you are” he let out a deep breath. “I told you to stay close to me,” he snapped.

“Hey there” Logan's voice interrupted before I could give a response and even Christian was surprised to see Logan here.

Subconsciously, my gaze darted to the side and I could see a commotion happening between two people.

An old man was trying to take a dress off a girl's body but the girl was restraining, not wanting him to touch her.

My eyes widened when I realized what it was. Sexual harassment!

I wanted to move there but Logan held my hand.

“Don't go. It's part of the fun here” he said.

My eyes widened in disbelief. I turned my gaze to Christian but he had also seen it and was not saying anything.

No way. No way they are calling sexual harassment fun!
