Bringing my mother home
Bringing my mother home
Chapter 20~ Valerie's POV
\==========
On the following morning, after a long night from last night, I woke up early and got ready in time, as I knew Dante would be here soon.
I went to my kitchen, and I prepared breakfast, instantly, I got done, a knock was heard at my door, and opening it my doubts were right as it was none other than Dante.
"Good morning Dante," I greeted with a smile on my face.
"Good morning Valerie, may I come in," He requested of me.
"Of course," I permitted, allowing him to enter my apartment.
"Would you like some breakfast, it's homemade," I offered.
But I saw the reluctance in his demeanor so I said, "Do not be fright, I am a great cook learned it from my mom,"
He busted into laughter at my words and so he agreed, "Alright then,"
So I took him to the dining room and I pulled out a chair for him to have a seat.
I hurriedly left where he was as I went into the kitchen and dished out the food there, the instant I got done, I returned to the dining room with both of our plates filled with food.
"Here you go, a proper English breakfast," I announced as I dropped his plate in front of him.
"Thank you, Val, it looks nice," He complimented.
"Come on eat up, it tastes really good also," I said.
And so he began with his cutleries as he took his first bite, chewing it, I could see how much he was starting to enjoy his breakfast.
"This is the best breakfast I have ever tasted aside from my mother's," he admitted as he took another bite.
"Thank you, it was very nice of you to say that," I said.
And so we both continued with our breakfast, after some minutes into our meal, we got done eating.
"Shall we leave now," I said, clearing my mouth and hands with a paper towel.
"Of course, whenever you are ready," he responded.
And so we walked out of my apartment and I locked my door firmly, so we headed for his car, then we drove off to the hospital.
A few minutes later, we reached the hospital, and Dante came out of the car before I could as he quickly came to my side of the car and opened the door for me.
Seeing this I chuckled, "Thank you, Dante,"
"Anytime my lady," he responded and gave a bow.
Honestly, I felt a little embarrassed as everyone was staring at us, but I noticed Dante knew this and he seemed unbothered, so I shifted off the way I felt and went with the flow.
After I got out of the car, we headed to the hospital. Already known to be a regular visitor of my mother at the hospital, the nurse at the counter stopped seeing it deemed fit for my checking in.
So Dante and I walked directly to my mother's ward.
Reaching there, I push the door open, only for me to find my mother awake and smiling.
I couldn't quantify my happiness because the doctor didn't tell me she had woken up all he told me was she was getting discharged today.
But seeing this elevated my mood more than before. Walking further into the ward room with Dante, I voiced, "Mom," with tears laced in my eyes.
"Hey pumpkin," My mother responded.
"Are you okay?" I questioned.
"Well, I am now," she responded.
Moving closer to her, I quickly wrapped her in my embrace. So I continued, "Thank you for not dying mom, I was so lost, while you were unconscious,"
"I know my love, I know," my mother said.
And seconds later, we let go of one another, and then my mom said, "And who is this handsome-looking man standing here,"
Chuckled, due to her style of utterance, "Mom, he is Dante, Dante Blaze, my boss at work and a newfound friend," I opened to my mother.
"Your boss, huh," My mother teased.
Then Dante moved close to her and took her hands close to his lips as he kissed them slightly.
"It's a pleasure to finally meet you, beautiful," he said, flirting with my mom.
Hearing him, my mom unwillingly blushed as she was captivated by his charms.
"Oh, he is a gentleman," She admitted, as she removed her hands from his.
"The pleasure is all mine, Dante," My mother finally responded.
Getting irritated by all of this, I chimed in, "Can we go home already,"
"Yeah, sure sweetie, we can, I am sick of this sick odor, goodness me I hate hospitals," my mom said as she began making a step off the stand.
The way she was trying to stand, it was obvious she had forgotten she was still in a wheelchair, but surprisingly to me, She stood her ground, and I was left shocked.
"Mo-Mo, Mom!, you can stand on your own now?" I said with my eyes raised.
"Can't I stand on.......," She paused on her words as her eyes shone widely indicating her perplexed state.
Suddenly the doctor entered the room, and he met us in this surprising phase.
"Good morning," the doctor greeted.
"I see my patient looks fit today," he continued as he moved close to my mother.
My curiosity quipped as I was full of worries for my mother.
"Doctor, I see my mother can move now, how is that even possible, you said with the help of therapies she should be able to walk again as her legs were coming back to life, so what happened doctor, I'm really confused right now," I said to the doctor.
"Well, the situation is confusing for us as it is for you, but I believe it is a miracle," He responded.
"Doctor, I'm sorry to chip into the conversation, but does it have to do with her brain, because it seems she has forgotten she was in a wheelchair," Dante interfered.
"Let's just keep an eye on her," the doctor finalized his words.
Then my mother chimed in, "There is nothing wrong with my brain, not that I don't remember being in a wheelchair but I just feel some neutrality in my body which makes it feel like I had not experienced such a thing as being in a wheelchair,"
"I understand you Mrs. Skye, but let's just keep watch and we would place you on a therapy session to strengthen your muscles even more," the doctor consoled.
I was worried, to be frank, but I just needed to keep it off my facial expression, so I spoke out, "Alright Mom, let's take you home, you need to rest,"
"I know my love, thank you, doctor," she said.
"Anytime, my cooperative patient, please take care of yourself," the doctor slightly teased, as he excused himself from the ward room.
So, Dante and I held her hands as we carefully walked our way out of the hospital to the car and made our way to my apartment.
