I guess the big and mighty, is not big after all
Chapter 18~ Dante's POV

\============

Seeing Valerie leave my office, I was shocked as I didn't expect her to apologize to me. So I got up from my seated position the moment she left, and I picked up my coffee mug, which was placed on my desk, as I turned to the transparent glass in my office, which made me see the beautiful city of Seattle.

Gently sipping my coffee, I began thinking of Valerie's words as laughter echoed out of my mouth, as I said, "Getting her now should be easy, only if she is acting grateful."

And with that, I returned to my seat with the coffee gently placed back on my desk, so I murmured silently to myself, "I should call her back; she is the one with an offense."

Then, I took the telephone receiver on my left ear as I pressed a number button dialing her official number so I could get connected to my office.

Patiently waited for some time as the call was connecting, and soon it got connected as I heard her "Hello."

Without being fussy, I replied with a "Hello, Miss Skye,"

Hearing my voice, I could feel her enthusiasm as she spoke back to me, "Yes, Mr Dante, what can I do for you? I'm at your service."

As I heard "I'm at your service," I murmured silently to myself as I said, "If you want to be at my service, giving a blowjob would be fine," but I was sure not to let her hear my words.

So I requested in response, "Can you come to my office, so we can talk things out?"

Immediately, she accepted my invitation. She said, "Right away, sir, I should be done with the task on my desk in 30 minutes, so I could be in your office in about 35 minutes."

I was surprised at her reply, so I complied in return and said "Okay" to her.

Then I ended the call, and I felt a sudden satisfaction which prompted me to swing my seat around in happiness as I knew my plans of clipping her wings were finally on a ten percent success lane.

At exactly thirty-five minutes, I heard a knock on my office door, and the sound of the knock already gave away who it was at the door: Valerie.

I feigned an I- don't - know attitude, answering in my regular I-am-busy tone, "Yes, whoever it is can come in,"

Opening the door, I quickly began writing on an irrelevant paper. As she spoke, "Sir, you requested for me,"

Hearing her, I halted my pretense as I said, "Oh yes, Valerie, please have your seat."

"Thank you, sir," She appreciated as she carefully pulled out the chair and sat down.

Proving my concern to her, I offered, "Are you comfortable on the seat or should we go sit on the couch?"

"It's okay, sir, I am fine here, sir," she said, declining my generosity.

Not taking her words to heart, I shifted to my words immediately,

"Okay, so Valerie, you came to me the other time to apologize, and I must say, I'm sorry for how I acted out, and believe me, my anger is justified. So, since you have made up your mind to have a fresh start with me, who am I to say no? I guess a re-introduction wouldn't be bad,"

Releasing a slight smile on her face, she uttered, "I just want to say thank you for everything you did for my mom. She has a great chance at life and of walking again, and I agree with you on the re-introduction thing."

Giving a grin, I stood up as I began with the reintroduction, "I'm Dante Blaze, the only child of the Blaze family and also the CEO of Blaze Publishing."

I stretched out my hands towards her, and without making me wait for long, she put her hands on me as she said hers, "I'm Valerie Skye, a senior editor at Blaze Publishing and the only child of my mother, Mary Skye."

"It's a pleasure meeting you, Valerie," I uttered as my face lifted with a smile.

"Likewise, Dante," she responded as the handshake between us kept moving horizontally.

Soon we had our sit back and we suddenly began staring at one another awkwardly, not knowing how to act towards each other as we were both used to our silly fights and this new good-terms bond was a little creepy, but I didn't mind as I just wanted her to mine then break her into a million pieces.

Breaking the silence, Valerie finally said, "I should return to my office."

But wanting to keep her close, I swiftly rejected her words, "No, you are not going anywhere, come on, lemme take you somewhere,"

"But sir," she giggled, "I mean Dante, we are still in our working hours," she reminded.

"I know, it's my company and I rule it anyhow I want, and whereas, there are a lot of people working in the office, if we leave, it's not like the company is closing up, come on, Val, relax your nerves and live a little."

"Okay, Dante, you are the boss, but I must say, you sound like Anna, my best friend," she said, agreeing to my little lecture.

And swiftly she spoke, "This is not a date, right? We are just going out," Clarifying the meaning behind our journey together.

I couldn't help but laugh, as I found her words hilarious.

"What's so funny about my words?" She inquired.

"Nothing," I said, trying so hard to suppress my laughter. But trust me, I couldn't keep it in.

Seeing me laugh, I noticed her sudden embarrassed expression towards my laughter, so I stopped instantly.

"I'm sorry, Valerie, for my laughter. I promise not to make such silly mistakes again," I said.

And hearing my apology, I saw a tiny glow erupt on her face, so I held onto her hands as she allowed it.

With that, we walked out of the office together and drove off to our designated location.
