I open my eyes to the sun shining in the hotel room window. I reach for Conrad, but he isn’t next to me. I sit up and glance around, but no sign of him exists.
“Conrad?” I called out but didn’t get a response.
Where is he? I start to panic, but something on his pillow catches my eye. It is a folded-up piece of paper. I reach for it and unfold it.
Good morning, my lovely.
I know you will probably panic when I am not next to you, but please don’t worry. I have gone out to pick something up. I promise I won’t be long.
I love you.
Conrad xx
I relax after reading it. I don’t know what he needs to go out for unless he is stopping at the London office to do a little business. I check my cell for the time. It is after ten. I wonder when he left. I am sure he won’t be too long. I will wait until he comes back for breakfast. I can make some coffee since our room has a coffee machine.
I take a moment to gather myself and climb out of bed. I smile as I walk by the window and see the view outside of the city. I am already in love with this place. I will be sad when we need to leave tomorrow afternoon. It takes me a moment to work out the coffee machine. It is fancy and a little complicated, too. Conrad has repeatedly shown me how to use it, but I still can’t get it easily. Once done, I head out to sit on the balcony to have it.
I grab a blanket on my way. It feels a little cold. I wrap it around me and take a seat outside, admiring the view in front of me. I am sure the view was one of the reasons Conrad picked this room for us.
We don’t have much planned for today. We have been non-stop since we arrived. It has been incredible, but a chilled day is the perfect way to end our trip. We have dinner plans with Chelsea and Adrian tonight, but until then, not much else.
As I finish my coffee, I hear the hotel door open, and Conrad calls out my name.
“Outside, babe,” I call back.
I hear him approach, and he soon comes into my eye view, smiling brightly, “Good morning, beautiful.”
“Good morning, handsome.” I coo.
I notice he is keeping one hand behind his back. I wonder what he is hiding.
“When did you wake up?”
“About half an hour ago. I didn’t hear you leave. What time did you leave?” I ask curiously.
“You were sound asleep. I didn’t want to wake you. I left about nine.”
He comes over, reaching down to kiss me softly.
“What you got behind your back?” I question, curious.
He chuckles, “It is a gift for you.”
I raise my brow at him, “Why? You have already gifted me with this trip, Conrad.”
I know he enjoys spoiling me and giving me the princess treatment, but I sometimes wish he would stop. I feel guilty with the money he spends on me.
“Yes, but I wanted to buy you something beautiful. Come on inside, and I will give you it,” he replies brightly.
Conrad strolls inside, and I follow him. He brings his hand around to the front, and I notice a gift bag in his hand, but it wasn’t just anyone. I can see the writing clearly. It is from Tiffany & Co. He did not buy me something from there. It is so expensive.
“Tiffany & Co, Conrad? I know they aren’t cheap.” I sigh.
“No, but you deserve some of the best, something beautiful and worthy of you. Please, angel, don’t get mad at me. You know how much I enjoy spoiling. I can take my money with me when I go. I want to be able to share it with the people I love, and you are included in that list.” He says softly.
Is that how I make him feel when I bring up him spending his money on me? He thinks I will get mad at him. I don’t mean to make him feel bad. I am grateful, of course, for everything he does for me and for everything he gives me.
“Conrad, I am not going to get mad at you, my love,” I reply, rising to peck his lips.
He smiles and hands the bag to me. I sit down to open it, and he sits next to me. I notice two gift boxes inside. One larger than the other. I take the small box out first, carefully opening it. My eyes go wide when I see what it is inside. It is a beautiful yellow gold, open heart ring. It is stunning.
“It symbolises limitless love and the ties it binds it together for two people.”
The tears brim in my eyes and soon roll down my cheek at his beautiful words. I turn to face him.
“You are crying? Why?”
“They are happy tears. It is stunning, Conrad and the meaning behind it is beautiful.” I whimper.
He wipes my tears away. “It can be the one you wear until I can buy another type of special ring.”
He is referring to an engagement ring.
“I love it, and I love you so much.” I gush and slip it onto my right index finger.
“Open the other one.” He encourages.
I nod, taking the box out and opening it, too. I am met with a stunning heart pendant, two intertwined hearts on a chain. It looks to be silver and rose gold.
“This one celebrates the spirit of love.” He smiles.
I run my fingers over it. It is so pretty, “I love it.” I beam, kissing his cheek.
He takes the box from me and tells me to turn around. He moves my hair out of the way and puts it on for me. I look down and admire it. I really do love them both. I am trying hard not to imagine what it costs for both items.
I turn to face him, “Thank you. I love you.”
“You are welcome, beautiful. They look perfect on you. It makes me happy spoiling you.” He says, stroking the hair away from my face.
“You make me feel like a princess,” I whisper.
“You are my princess.” He chuckles and prods my nose.
I snicker and wriggle it, “You are the best.”
“Only the best for you, sweetheart. How about you get ready, and I will take you out for breakfast? Or do you want to stay in the room today?”
“We can go out for a few hours and then relax at the hotel.”
“Good idea. We can use the pool and the spa. Have a chilled day here before dinner and before heading home tomorrow.” He says, kissing me.
“It sounds perfect, handsome.”
I don’t need to shower; we had a bath last night before bed. It is just a case of getting ready, which won’t take long, and we can head out to start our day.
