Chapter Eighty-Nine - I haven't been feeling like myself.

Maya

I have been in a bad place for the last week. I have been drained, emotionally, sad and barely moved out of bed. I have been like that since Callum sent me those photos. I have been panicking and on edge, waiting for him to release them. The private investigator is working hard, but he can’t seem to track him down. Conrad got me a new cell with a new number, too, so I haven’t heard from Callum since he hasn’t found my new number. I don’t even know how he found it previously.

Conrad has been a saint as always, taking care of me, and if he isn’t here, his mom comes to check on me. She knows what is going on, and she has been supportive. It has made us closer, which is something I didn’t think would ever happen. I appreciate her being here for me, though. I hate feeling like this. I need to pull it together. I can’t keep allowing Callum to ruin my life and hide from the big bad world.

Today is Sunday, and I have decided it is the day to pull it together. I want to spend the day with my boyfriend on his day off. I have been a great girlfriend recently. I have been pushing him away and snapping at him for no reason. I feel terrible because he does not deserve it. All he has done is be here for me. He really deserves someone better than me. Conrad is already up; he has been for an hour, now it is my turn.

I slowly sit up, running my fingers through my messy hair and climb out of bed. I steal one of Conrad’s hoodies to pull over my pjs because it seems a little cooler today than it has been. I stroll through and find Conrad in the kitchen, making breakfast. He is only in a pair of grey joggers.

I sneak up behind him, slipping my arms around him from behind and kiss over his shoulder, “Good morning, handsome.” I coo.

He turns to face me, smiling brightly, “Good morning, beautiful. It is good to see out of bed.” He says and caresses my cheek.

“I am sorry I have been a nightmare for the last week and for snapping at you. You didn’t deserve any of it. You have been amazing as always, and I have acted like an ungrateful bitch.” I sigh, trying my best not to get too emotional.

“It is okay, sweetheart. I know you didn’t mean it. You were down and hurting.”

“Yes, but it didn’t give me the right to treat you how I did, Conrad,” I say softly.

He kisses me softly, “Honestly, don’t worry about it.”

“Can I help with breakfast?” I ask.

He shakes his head, “No, but you can pack a case.” He smiles.

I look at him, confused, “Why? Are you throwing me out?”

“What, no, of course not. You and I have a flight to London tomorrow morning.”

“Wait, what? Since when?”

He chuckles, “I booked it last night. We will be there for four days. I have booked us into a hotel, and Chelsea can’t wait to see us, too.” He says brightly.

“What would have happened if you couldn’t drag my ass out of bed?”

“I would have tossed you over my shoulder and carried you to the airport,” he laughs, “I thought it would be good for us to get away for a few days somewhere out of the country.” He adds.

“Thank you. You are probably right. It would do us the world of good. I am excited to see Chelsea again and London for the first time.” I gush, clapping my hands.

He pulls me in against his chest and grins, “I have missed that beautiful smile recently.”

“I am sorry I have been so miserable.”

He bops my nose, “Stop apologising. Now, get your cute little ass to the bedroom and pack.” He chuckles.

“Yes, Sir. Do you want me to pack yours, too?”

“I am already packed.” He says and pecks my lips.

I turn away to head to the bedroom, and he swats my ass. I giggle and return to the bedroom to pack. I know this time of year can be quite cold in the UK, so I will pack enough to keep me warm, but also some summer clothes just in case because the weather can be unpredictable. I am a little nervous because I have never flown on a long flight. I am sure it is about seven or eight hours.

Once done, I searched for my passport and put it in the drawer next to my bed so it would be easy to find for tomorrow. I rejoin Conrad in the kitchen just as he is sitting our breakfast down. A toasted bagel with salmon, avocado and a poached egg. It looks and smells incredible—coffee and apple juice to drink.

“Did you pack everything?” he asks.

“Yes, I am all packed. This looks delicious.” I grin.

“Good. I want you to eat every single bit because you haven’t been eating properly.” He says softly.

He is right. I haven’t been eating much at all for the last week. I filled myself up with liquids more than anything. Any time I tried to eat, it would make me feel sick. Hopefully, this morning, I will manage to eat it all without issue.

“I will try my best. I promise.” I reply, reaching over to kiss him softly.

“Thank you.”

We take a seat and enjoy breakfast together. I have missed this. I have missed being present with Conrad.

“What time is our flight tomorrow? I am nervous. I have never been on a flight longer than a couple of hours.” I say honestly.

“Ten. You will be fine, angel. We are in first class, which is more relaxed and has less people. If you want to sleep for the flight, there are beds, so you do not have to think about it.”

He places his hand over mine, lifting it to his lips and kissing my knuckles.

“Hopefully, I won’t freak out too much.”

“I will be right there with you to hold your hand or hug you close when needed.” He smiles.

“Thank you. You are the best.”

I always feel safe with him, so I am sure the flight will be no different. I tuck into my breakfast, happily and glad when I don’t feel sick while doing so.

“This is so good. How does it feel to be great at everything?” I ask.

“I am not great at everything, but I appreciate the compliment, sweetness.” He smiles.

I nod and focus on my breakfast. I can’t wait to get to London and have nothing to worry about for a few days.
