Chapter Twenty - I haven't had feelings like these in a long time.

Maya

I am sitting up on the counter as Conrad cooks dinner since he isn’t letting me do anything else now. I am done with the veg. Stubborn man. It took everything I had in me to call him tonight. I was determined I was going to stay away from him. I convinced myself it was for the best until I was sitting home alone and realised a part of me missed him, which was crazy since we hadn’t spent a lot of time together. I tried calling him four times before I eventually hit the call button. I had a terrible day, and Conrad was the first person I wanted to see.

I watch him as he cooks. I find it very attractive watching him cook. I must fight the urge to reach over and touch his arms. The way they flex as he cooks is sexy. I bite on my lower lip. It has been a long time since I have felt any kind of sexual feelings for anyone. The idea of someone touching me is one I don’t like. I have been that way for a long time, even while I was still with my ex. I only had sex to keep him happy, so he wouldn’t get mad. It has been years since I have enjoyed intimacy. Yet, all these feelings are stirring inside of me when I am around Conrad or even think of him. I can’t, though. I am nowhere near ready for it.

I shake my head, sigh, and pull my eyes away.

“Everything okay?” Conrad asks.

I nod because I worry if I open my mouth, I will end up spilling my truth to him on how he makes me feel. Conrad eyes me suspiciously. I don’t think he believes me.

“I saw you checking me out, angel.” He chuckles.

The heat rises on my face and neck, “I was that obvious, uh?” I snicker.

“Yes, yes you were.” He replies smugly.

I shake my head and roll my eyes at him, “Don’t look so smug, Mr.”

Conrad laughs loudly and comes to stand in front of me, and he places a hand on each side of me on the counter, “I can’t help it.”

I want badly to grab his tee, pull him closer and claim his lips in mine.

Don’t do it, Maya.

I repeat the word in my head. My eyes divert from his down to his lips and back up. No! I can’t do it again. A smirk rises on Conrad’s lips, and he reaches in, slowly and caresses my cheek with his thumb.

“You are thinking about how badly you want to kiss me right now.”

“Nope! I don’t know what you mean. I am not having such thoughts.” I deny.

My tongue involuntary dashes along my lips. Way to give myself away. Conrad brushes his thumb over my lips, and a deep moan escapes. He chuckles, pulls away and turns back to making dinner.

I groan, “Tease.”

Conrad smiles sweetly at me and gets back to cooking like nothing happened. I mutter under my breath and roll my eyes. I hop off the counter and head back to one of the stools, but I only manage a couple of steps before Conrad’s hand grasps my waist and pulls me back to him. He swings me around to face him and brings me against his chest. I gasp loudly and place my hand on his chest.

“Where do you think you are going?”

“Over there.” I whimper, nodding in the direction of the stools.

He stares down at me, a stare so intense it causes a shiver to run down my spine. I swallow hard, and he dips down, his warm lips covering mine. I moan and fist his tee, kissing back. Conrad runs his hand down my back and places it on the small of it to hold my body tighter to his as we kiss. I snake my arms around his neck.

A part of me has been craving his kiss since our first one. The kiss is passionate but not forceful or rough. It is pretty perfect. Conrad’s free hand lands on my cheek. I forced my tongue into his mouth; I needed a little more. Conrad doesn’t seem to have an issue with it because his tongue soon dances in perfect sync with mine.

I walk backwards, not parting from his lips, until my back hits a counter. There are so many emotions circulating in me. I grip his hip and pull him against me. Conrad groans loudly into my lips, and I can feel his length harden against me. He is turned on this much by just kissing me. I am the same, though. I am aroused for the first time in a long time.

I back away from the kiss, breathless. I only stopped because I needed a second to breathe. I can hear Conrad panting, and I open my eyes to look at him. His eyes are still closed, his cheeks are flushed, and he is smiling. I am sure my face is the same.

Conrad opens his eyes, and we don’t say a word to one another, but our eyes are firmly on each other. I suddenly become a little shy and need to break eye contact. I divert them to the ground and blush. He makes me blush way too easily.

“Can you keep an eye on dinner, please, just for a second? I need to, um, go to the bathroom?” he breathes out.

I snicker because I know why he needs to go, “Sure.”

I glance down at the evident excitement in his joggers and wiggle my brows at him.

“Eyes up, sweetness.” He chuckles.

“I can’t help it.” I mock, the same way he said it to me earlier.

Conrad laughs loudly, “Don’t look so smug.”

I shrug and smile innocently at him. He shakes his head and disappears to the bathroom. It is a good thing we stopped because if not, I probably would have gotten carried away, and I may have regretted it. Not because it was Conrad, but because it would be too much too soon for me mentally and physically.

I gather myself and stroll over to keep an eye on dinner. It shouldn’t be too long. I am ready for it because all I have had today is an apple and two coffees. I hear him come back a few minutes later. He must have managed to readjust himself. Conrad comes up behind me, his hands on my hips, and his lips fall at my ear, the warmth of his breath tickling my skin. I close my eyes and whimper softly.

“How does everything look?”

“It shouldn’t be long,” I whisper.

Conrad plants a soft kiss on my neck, “I can take over again, angel.”

I can only nod, and hmm. My skin where his lips were feels like it is on fire.

I step to the side and let him take over. I busy myself by setting the table for us. Conrad steals glimpses as I do. I ignore him because if I put my attention back on him, I will lose my train of thought and not finish. It seems to be the effect he has on me.

I need to work out what I want quickly because I don’t want to keep changing my mind. It isn’t fair on Conrad; he doesn’t deserve it.
