One hundred and one
"Hey, Alexander," I said, a bit taken aback by his sudden appearance. "I didn't expect to see you here. The party is quite... too much for a newcomer like me."
He chuckled softly, his eyes meeting mine. "I understand. But you seem to be handling it well, considering."
I blushed slightly at his compliment. "Thank you. I'm trying my best."
Alexander leaned back in his seat, crossing his arms. "So, how are you finding your time in the company so far? Vivian mentioned you're on the top floor, but we haven't crossed paths until now."
I shrugged lightly. "It's been good, I guess. The work is challenging, but I'm learning a lot. And yes, I've noticed that you always seem to be on the top floor too, but I haven't seen you around."
He smirked playfully. "Well, I tend to be a bit elusive, I suppose. I'm in a managerial position, handling projects and such."
I nodded, realizing why our paths hadn't crossed before. "That makes sense."
Alexander suddenly stops talking and pours a glass of fruit wine for me, offering it with a warm smile. I shake my head, saying that I don't drink. But he insists it's not too alcoholic and suggests I take a few sips to loosen up since I seem a bit uneasy for the occasion. I laugh gently and agree, saying yes. Taking the glass, I bring it to my lips and take a small sip.
The taste of the fruit wine surprises me; it's sweet and tangy, like a medley of fresh berries and a hint of citrus. I'm not quickly used to the flavor, and my head starts to sway slightly as I try to savor it. Alexander notices my reaction and asks if I'm alright. He advises me not to drink more if I can't handle it, but I shake my head and take another sip, determined to enjoy the moment.
As I take another small sip, the door suddenly swings open, and my sight becomes blurry as a tall man walks in. My heart skips a beat, unsure of who this new arrival is. The alcohol seems to enhance my nervousness, and I glance at Alexander, feeling a bit overwhelmed.
