Chapter 141

Chapter 141

Daniel scratched his head. He didn't dare mess with Delilah, but there was no way he was going to let a useless piece of trash like William walk away with such a huge win.

That villa was meant for them to enjoy. If someone like William moved in, he'd feel sick even setting foot in the place again.

"Father, there's one more thing. Could you take care of it while you're at it?"

Aiden's temple throbbed with irritation. "What now?" he snapped.

Daniel came right out with it. "You know William's situation. There's no way he could have made millions of dollars over the years. But today, he pulled out three million dollars to buy a car..."

Aiden had already picked up on something from the moment Delilah asked William about moving into the villa. The relationship between William and Delilah was clearly no ordinary one. Someone with that kind of personal connection to Delilah pulling out a few million dollars was nothing unusual — even ten million wouldn't raise an eyebrow.

"Daniel, I called you before I came. Didn't you tell me there were no unusual expenses in the company's finances? I'd assume the money William has is what he's saved up over the years."

He then turned to William. "Tell us yourself — where did that money come from?"

Before William could say a word, Delilah cut in coldly. "You know what, the Taylor family is really something else. Three million dollars is nothing. Are you seriously suggesting Mr. Brown can't afford that? What, do you want him to show you his bank statements just to prove the money is his?"

Aiden immediately sensed he'd stepped in it and quickly put on a smile. "No, no, Ms. Roberts, you've got it all wrong. William and Emily are married — he's practically family to us Taylors."

Delilah looked mildly annoyed. "Alright, enough of this nonsense. Everyone go do what you need to do."

Aiden still had plenty of questions, but he didn't dare push any further. Taking the hint that she was done with them, he kept his smile plastered on. "Of course, Ms. Roberts. We'll get out of your way. Feel free to reach out to me directly if you need anything."

Delilah waved him off without even glancing at him.

Aiden led the rest of the Taylor family out quickly.

Once they were outside the dealership, Daniel sidled up to his father with a wounded look. "Father, what is all this? I can understand making Emily president — Mr. Sanchez made it clear he won't work with Taylor Group unless she takes the role. But now we're being kicked out of our own home and shoved into some place like Heights Apartments..."

Aiden's mind was working fast. After a moment of silence, he said coldly, "Don't worry. You won't be living out there for long."

Daniel looked at him curiously. "What do you mean?"

Aiden laid it out carefully. "Think about it. Who is Delilah? She's an Enforcer for Bloody Prison. She only came to Novaria to treat Emily and William's kids as a favor to Mr. Sanchez. And as for those kids' condition — you all know better than anyone how serious it really is."

He let out a cold laugh and continued. "Does Delilah actually think she can just stay in Novaria and cure those two kids? That's not happening. She might stick around for a day or two, but after a week or so, even Mr. Sanchez's pull won't be enough to keep her here. Once she's gone, we move forward with the original plan."

Bronte pressed her hand against her still-bleeding head and choked out, "Father, weren't you a bit too harsh today? Yes, Kian made a mistake at the company, but he's worked hard all these years and contributed a lot. And then Emily barely becomes president and she's already spending nearly three million dollars to get on Delilah's good side..."

Aiden suddenly stopped walking and looked at her. "Wait — you said Kian made a mistake? What did he do?"

Bronte's heart lurched. She caught herself and quickly shook her head. "It's nothing."

Her guilty look didn't go unnoticed. Aiden's brow furrowed as he turned to Daniel. "Daniel. Tell me. What did Kian do?"

If Aiden hadn't asked, Daniel would have had a hard time bringing up something this divisive on his own. But since Aiden was asking directly, he had no reason to hold back.

Even so, he put on a show of reluctance. "Father, it's... it's already been handled by the company. No need to trouble yourself over it."

Aiden knew these people inside and out. One look at Daniel's face and he could already tell — whatever Kian had done, it wasn't small.

"Tell me. If you don't, I'll go to the company and find out myself."

Only then did Daniel lay out the whole story from beginning to end.

When he was done, he added with a fake look of concern, "Father, please don't let this get to you. Kian is still young..."

Aiden's face went dark. He clenched his fist and roared, "Shut up! Of all times to be making excuses for that little bastard! I've said it before — Kian won't learn his lesson until he loses a hand. Running up debts outside and dragging the Taylor name through the mud was bad enough, but now he's stealing from his own family! Bronte, you useless woman — you and Jasper are exactly the same. Both completely useless!"

Bronte thought about Kian — beaten and gone, no one knowing where he was — and her own head still bleeding. She finally broke down in tears. "Father, you're being completely unfair! How come when Emily does something wrong, you just let it go? Don't forget — Kian is your own grandson!"

Aiden raised his walking cane and brought it down on Bronte's head again.

"You're not just useless — you're brainless! Think about it. Why did we make that woman Emily president in the first place? It was all to build a deeper partnership between Taylor Group and Preston Group. Mr. Sanchez has gone to great lengths to pursue Emily while keeping his reputation clean. Given all that, is it really so hard to understand how Emily — or William — suddenly has a few extra million dollars out of nowhere?"
