Jacob walks out of the garden as a renewed being. He feels new, more relaxed. Outside, there are no shootings or killings. Everywhere is eerily quiet and calm. He walks towards the direction of the house and looks around for signs of the van. He no longer sees them. He walks confidently to the house. He finds Manuel at the living room with Mia. Mia is knitting and he can not fathom what she might be putting together yet. They both stare at him as he walks in.

"Where have you been?" Mia asks with a curious gaze. Her hands are still going swiftly with the knitting needle, even though her eyes are on Jacob.

"I was at the garden. The old man was teaching me a few things. Did you get the guys in the van?" He is directing this question at Manuel who is chugging a can of beer. He drops the can and releases a slight belch.

"Okay, I did as you told me but I might have turned a little and they realized I was not you. So I kind of drove them away. But hold on. Before you crucify me about never being serious on the job, there is a good side to this." He raises his hand as though to calm Jacob's nerves down.

"While you were learning gardening secrets from Pa Rico, the drones captured the license plates of the van. The tech team has a lead on that and they are still trying to dig more into the information they can source from the license numbers. Truth be told, I don't think this was one of the Boss's plentiful enemies. I think these people were here for you." Manuel explains and immediately picks up his beer once he is done.

"Want some?" Manuel offers to give him another can of beer. Jacob's face shows that he is not in the mood for drinking beer and making merry.

"Who are these tech guys? Where are they? Are they on the grounds?" He asks Manuel with a sense of urgency in his tone.

"Calm down, playboy. You have been here over a year and you do not know the tech guru? Check out the basement. Richie lives for seclusion, so that us probably why you have never seen him in daylight. Some rumours have flown around that he is secretly in love with a tech creation or some artificial intelligence. Don't know how true that is though." Manuel is known for going off the point of his conversation so Jacob impatiently waits around for him to get to the point.

"Thanks, Manuel. I do not give two fucks if he is fucking his keyboard." He walks swiftly to the door that leads towards the basement.

"Jesus!, Jacob. Be careful with your language choice." Mia exclaims, raising her head from her knitting to watch Jacob's exiting figure. She shakes her head and returns to her knitting. He is a complicated man with a complicated past and it would take a while to fully unravel him but Mia knows that this is not the time. He is facing trying times and if she got attached to him, she could become a pawn to his enemies for them to be able to get him. She thinks about all of this while she tugs at needle and brown coloured thread. She will not put herself and Jacob in a compromising situation that might lead to their demise. So, although they have called a truce to their silent fights, she would give him space whenever she can.

"Lewis, open up this door! I know you are in there."

"Lewis!"

Lewis is wakes from his much needed slumber with a high pitched yelling from his door. He wonders why someone would choose to yell instead of knocking like civilized people. He steps out of the bed and puts on his robe. He a takes a pause to stare at his reflection on the mirror. He runs his hands through his hair and tries to make it look like he did not just get out of bed.

"Lewis!" The feminine, high pitched tone yells again. Lewis's feathers are not ruffled one bit. He walks leisurely to the living room with Garrick walking gingerly at his side. The bored look on his face shows that he cares less about who is at the door and more about breakfast. He makes a yawning face and settles on the couch facing the door.

"Looks like you want to have a front row seat to this drama, G. I would have chosen that seat too." Lewis laughs as he says this. He turns the key and unlocks the door. Emily almost falls through the open door. She probably is not expecting him to open the door because she looks at him with a surprising look.

"Emily… people have doors not microphones at the entrance of their doors for a reason. Why the yelling?" Lewis says with a calm voice and an unbothered look. Emily brushes past him into the house with a huff and drops her Hermes bag on the chair and slumps on to the couch.

"Oh please. Who really are you? I can not believe I trusted you. Is all of this a ruse to just get to know me then fuck me over or even fuck my father over." Emily interrogates him with a look that screams betrayal. She still has feelings for him but the day after the party she attended with Lewis, her father had asked her about what she had been up to. She had taken the opportunity to introduce Lewis to her father. He said he looked familiar, then told her about Lewis being a detective. She thought he was only trying to stop her from hooking up with another man especially after how her marriage ended up. But her father had stared at her with sincerity in his eyes, talking about how he did not want their faces plastered on blogs again. Then, she knew he was only speaking about Lewis's occupation because he cared.
