After the scene with Tammy Ferrera, they walk out of the hall in laughter. Lewis was never looking forward to hanging out with stuck up ladies from wealthy backgrounds. Probably children of other criminals who were hiding under the guise of corporate companies. He had not expected this. He has seen more drama today than he has seen in years. They wait outside while Sam drives out with their ride. He walks out and opens the car door for Emily and Lewis. Lewis lets her go in first, then he enters the car and they zoom off. They drive in silence for a while until Emily decides to crack the silence by voicing her thoughts.
"Why did Tammy say you looked familiar?" Emily asks with a blank look on her face. Lewis starts to think about where he could have seen Tammy. He wishes he could recall the memory that involved Tammy but he has been on so many cases he does not keep track of all of them.
"She probably saw me on my way to work or something. I don't know." He says, his voice shows that he is eager to close subject. Emily presses on with her questioning.
"What do you do even? I feel like I have known you for a long while but I do not know anything about you. We should get to know more about each other. Don't you think?" She asks, looking at him intensely. She places her hand on his hand which is resting on his lap. His eyes immediately go to her hand on his lap and he has the strongest urge to move her hand but it will give Emily all the wrong signals.
"I am uhm… I help to find out things, you know how these things work, yeah? What would you like to know?" He asks with an easy smile. He does not want her to notice any bit of anxiety in his demeanor. She tips her head towards him and smiles.
"Well Lewis, now that you ask, of course I would love to know everything about you. You seem quite interesting. Mysterious but simple. You are a paradox, Mr Lewis." She is indirectly flirting with him and he plays along with her. He thinks about his words carefully and also considers that he is already in the lion's den regardless of how careful he is. He might as well just have fun with the whole thing.
"Alright. Easy now, if you keep throwing these big words around I would begin to think you were feeling me up. You feeling me, Miss Emily?" Lewis flirts right back. He takes his gaze off her hand resting on his lap and stares at her completely.
"Oh no, it was not my intention. But, just maybe I am. What would you do about it, Mr Finder? I would like to think of myself as a catch, don't you think?" She asks Lewis, who laughs at this.
"Come on, look at yourself. You are a pretty lady. Got the brains and great fashion sense, mighty fine too. I think that is way more than a catch." Lewis is smooth with his delivery and Emily is almost swooning.
"We are at R&E residence ma'am." Sam announces and Emily looks like a baby who has had lollipop snatched from her mouth.
"Well, I have to leave. Sam will drop you off at your place. Maybe later we could meet up and have lunch or something." She asks Lewis out and stares at him with anticipation etched in her eyeballs.
"We will see how it goes, princess. Run on home, okay? Stay safe." He says, Sam opens her car door and she steps out of the car. She waves him good bye and goes into the house. They drive off once Emily steps into her home completely and can no longer be seen. Sam does for security reasons.
"Well, I have to hand this to you. You have a great way with words. You have to give me some of that rizz, you know." The words roll out of Sam's mouth as though he has been holding them in the tip of his tongue throughout the ride. Lewis just laughs.
"I just have my ways, you know. I am a lovable person, after all." Lewis boasts of himself and rubs at his jaw dramatically. Sam catches the view from the mirror and laughs.
"Well, fill me in man. What went down in there? I was stuck in this car listening to Billie Holiday. It is not as bad as it sounds though, but I am certain shit went down in that party." Sam speaks with wild hand gestures while he is driving.
"Oh well, Emily has a sharp mouth, I will give you that. She trash talked this Ferrera lady till she literally wailed and ran off. It was pretty embarrassing. I was just happy to be on the winning side." Lewis chuckles as he reminisces the events of their evening.
"Oh damn, I know Emily can be pretty blunt but then trash talk, that's crazy." He encourages Lewis to spill more and Lewis obliges him.
"You wanna know something else. The Ferrera girl said I looked like someone she knew. I was in surprise. I probably look like a celebrity or something. Wouldn't be surprising if she thought I was Chris Evans." Lewis was now using code language, he had made a sign with his eyebrows and Sam had immediately understood. He meant he thought she recognized him as a cop on one of his cases and she could have blown his cover completely.
They now use code because it is unsafe to continue removing the recording device in the car anytime they want to engage in conversation that might incriminate Sam and put him out of a job.
The last time they did that Richard's goons had interrogated Sam and he had cane up with the excuse that he discovered the device was malfunctioning so he had tried to fix it. He saved himself that one time but Lewis is not willing to risk his source of livelihood again.
