Lewis shakes his head. He can not imagine that Emily spends her time with these crackheads. It does not seem like what she would do. Why would she need drugs? She has everything, money, fame… what else could she possibly need? He gives the two ladies a stern face and paces around, rubbing at the stubble on his jaw.
"Look, it was just a few pills, okay? We did not knock her out or something. We also did not decide to pack our things and come to this fancy suite just to smoke pot. She sought us out for a good time and we responded accordingly." The lady who answered the door explains, then she coughs slightly at the end.
Lewis takes in this information. Did Richard know his daughter was doing drugs? How long had she been? If she had been taking since she was married or before then, did Jacob know? Sam just sits there looking as the scene unfolds with wide eyes. Emily finally steps out. Her face is clear, she has done her makeup and worn her dress. It is the same shade of purple as Lewis's outfit but it is a Louis Vuitton dress. She looks stunning.
"I am ready. Let's go." She says, looking at Sam who is relaxed on the couch. Sam jumps when her eyes drift to him and he goes to open the door.
"You look beautiful." Lewis compliments her, she gives him a wide smile.
"I know." She replies. Lewis laughs at this.
"Now this Emily… this is the one I like."
Lewis does not notice her cheeks color a little at the compliment. She is beginning to like Lewis but she does not know he is only being nice.
They walk swiftly into the elevator and press the button for the lobby. When they get down, Sam leads the way to the car. He has gone back to work mode. He will not engage in conversation with Lewis now that Emily has joined them. The receptionist looks warily at them and then shifts her gaze. They step out and Sam hurries to the car. Lewis holds open the door for Emily and she smiles her thanks.
"Let's get this party on the road. Woo-hooo!" Lewis yells in the car. Emily's hands go to her ears and she bends her head slightly.
"No yelling. My head can not take that right now." Emily says in a stern voice. She places her hands on her diamond encrusted purse and holds tight to it. She stares out the window and looks like she is in a daze.
"I am sorry for yelling. I just wish you would be more ecstatic for something you have been looking forward to for a long time." Lewis tries to catch her gaze but it proves abortive.
"Yaaaaayyyy, we are going for a party. Oh my God, i feel so excited." Emily raises her hands in the air in mock excitement. Lewis shakes his head, there is nothing he can do to lift her mood. So, he stays quiet. Sam stays quiet all through the ride too.
They finally get to the destination and flashing lights from a multitude of cameras cameras can be seen from a far distance.
"Shit. Shit. Shit." Emily mutters. She is looking nervous and anxious. She is tugging at her dress. Lewis looks at her weirdly.
"What is the problem?" He asks her. She faces him ut her eyes are darting around their surroundings. The car gets stuck when photographers gather around their vehicle, waiting for its occupants to alight.
"Uhm, I did not remember there would be this many cameras. I don't think I look clear enough to face them." She whips put a mirror from her purse as she says this. She dabs at her chin and under her eyes with a blending foam. She reapplied her gloss.
"Uhm, Sam. Can you find us another way to park and get into the building without the cameras?" Lewis asks Sam.
"I don't know. I am not familiar with this vicinity." Sam responds to Lewis question with a slow shake of his head.
The photographers seem to be gathering in throngs. The more time they spend in the car, the more these press people are convinced a Kardashian is in the car.
Lewis is also trying to avoid getting caught on camera with Emily. He hates the spotlight and knows he is putting his life and his career at great risk by doing this.
"We need to turn around. Don't want TMZ ruining all the efforts I put into getting this glam. They probably think a prince is in here. The Prince of Zamunda…wakanda forever. You know what I mean, haha." Lewis taps at Sam's shoulders while he makes baseless jokes.
"Not funny." Sam mutters. He tries to move the car backwards when he notices a small figure running towards them. She stops right at his window and bends over to catch her breath. Then she knocks on his window. He brings it down a bit and then she says,
"There is a way out the back. Just drive back the way you came and enter the next bend you see on your right. Hey, Em." She waves at Emily and Emily smiles in return. Her petite figure disappears down the same way she came and the photographers cover the path almost immediately. Sam drives out of the blocked path and takes the directions of the lady with the petite frame. Soon they get to the back of the hall and there are no cameras here. A group of ladies are sharing a cigarette in a corner. Lewis ignores them when he gets out of the corner and runs over to open Emily's door. She gets out and offers him a smile. She walks slowly because of her dress and high heels. Lewis offers her his hand and she takes it.
"You seem to be a fine gentleman, Lewis. I thought they say chivalry is dead." Emily teases him. She has slowly warmed up to him and is considering opening up to him completely.
