Chapter 65 Chapter 65: The Name I No Longer Own
Chapter 65: The Name I No Longer Own
Vishiea’s POV
I watched him as he walked towards me. Soaked, and he looked pale. I avoided his gaze. Darn him, unlike him, I still have a conscience. This is actually what he wants to do—to make me pity him and let him enter.
I watched him as he walked closer. He lost weight. He wasn’t like that before when I was in the kingdom. What happened to him?
That doesn’t matter now. What matters is to end this, and he would stop pestering me.
The guards guiding him inside didn’t provide him any specific treatment. In my place, he’s just as simple as a villager. He’s not a king.
“Anastasia,” Dylan called out my name. He hasn’t left yet? I thought he had already left.
I turned around and looked at him, giving him a faint smile. His forehead knotted—he didn’t expect me to let Darius enter inside.
“So you decide to talk to him,” he uttered, placing both of his hands in his pocket. I nodded my forehead. He sighed and smiled.
“I did. I want to end things with him now,” I told him. He tapped my shoulder as he heard what I said. His face lightened in hope. I don’t know what he meant by that gesture.
“You made a good choice, Anastasia. I hope this would stop him from bothering you,” Dylan said and smiled. I nodded my head before he finally walked away.
I turned to look at Darius. He’s walking close to me while the guards were beside him.
This time I want to talk to you, Darius. But not to give you a chance to enter my life again. I’ve earned this life, and I don’t want you to ruin it just like what you did before.
If you are actually sincere, then you will accept whatever my decision is. I am not obliged to explain or face you, but here you are, causing trouble in my place.
I stood still, looking at him. He coughed, and he seemed to have gotten a cold.
“Vishiea,” as soon as he stood in front of me, he uttered my name. I closed my fist. Darius, this is the first and last time that we will talk to each other. After this, I hope we never cross paths again.
I never lied about my identity. I am Vishiea, but that was before. However, I already forgot about Vishiea—the old me. Now I am Anastasia, and I don’t want him calling me that name again. Because whenever he does, I feel like I am still stuck in the past.
Being a prisoner of who I was before. I’ve changed, and I am Anastasia now.
“You should address me as Anastasia, Darius,” I told him. He stood still, staring at my face like it’s been a decade since he last saw me.
He shook his head and tried to hold my hand, but I stepped back. He looked at me, confused.
What does he think? That he could hold me, lay his finger on me, just because I let him in? Is that how he thinks of me? I closed my fist while glaring at him. He noticed it and distanced himself.
“I’m sorry, but I can’t call you by that name,” he uttered. My forehead knotted because of what he said.
I scoffed and looked at him. He can’t call me by that name? Why? What could be the reason why he can’t even address me by my name?
“No matter what you call me, I am Anastasia now, and that will never change,” I told him. He faintly smiled, and the flowers, including the letters in his hands, were now ruined.
“You didn’t accept my gifts,” he uttered. I tried to calm myself, not wanting to curse him.
“Everyone, you can leave. Let us talk for the meantime. Guards, don’t let the royal guard of the king enter inside,” I told them. They bowed their heads before leaving us both here.
I looked outside, and the rain still kept on pouring. The clouds were dark, and the breeze of air was cold.
“If you have something to say, then say it, Darius. I am only giving you this chance, and there’s nothing more,” I told him. He nodded his head and smiled at me.
You’re now here, you look calm, and I want to tell all my pain to you, but I don’t even have the courage to do so.
Minutes of silence, and he didn’t do or say anything. He just looked at my face like he wasn’t familiar with it.
“You finally decided to talk to me,” he uttered. We’re both standing outside the house. He’s soaked with rain. If he’s thinking that I would offer him inside, then he’s wrong. I won’t let him enter inside.
“Just say whatever you want. I still have matters to do,” I said firmly. He nodded his head.
Darius, I don’t know what you’re up to, but I want you to know that you can never control me again.
I’ve suffered enough, and this time I won’t let that happen.
“I am here to apologize. I know I was wrong. I was stupid, dumb, and a fool for hurting you before and even now, Vishiea. I know you can’t forgive me, but I am willing to do everything so you can forgive me,” he said while looking into my eyes.
It’s too late for you to realize it, Darius. It’s been years, and you just found out right now that you’re actually wrong? Is that not too unfair for me?
“Really? Are you really sincere, Darius? Because if you’re only here to make fun of me, acting like you’re sorry for everything you did to me, then you may leave,” I told him. He shook his head and tried to approach me, but again I stepped backwards.
“I am telling the truth, Vishiea. I’m sorry for hurting you. Believe me, I love you. My love for you never faded—it’s just that I don’t want you to get hurt,” he uttered. My forehead knotted because of his nonsense confession.
“You don’t love me, Darius. You only love yourself. You’re wrong,” I told him, but he shook his head and tried to hold my hand, but I slapped him hard.
