Chapter 57 Chapter 57: Farewell to the Kingdom
Chapter 57: Farewell to the Kingdom
Vishiea’s POV
It can't be. Mother Kiara, I thought you’d fight? Why did you leave me alone?
“This is not happening,” I murmured while reading the letter. My tears kept streaming down my cheeks. I hugged the letter as I slowly fell onto the floor.
“Lady Anastasia,” Yana tried to help me stand up. I shook my head, unable to accept what happened.
“Mother… no…” I cried in pain. I thought I would still see you. Why did you leave me?
“Why this early, Mother? Why?” I couldn't help but cry in grief.
I should have just spent my time with you, Mother Kiara. I should have stayed by your side. I regret leaving you for these stupid events.
“I’m sorry for your loss, Lady Anastasia. I’m sure your mother is so proud of you.” Yana hugged me. I wiped my tears, and then there was a sudden knock on the door.
Yana opened it. “She’s already here, sir,” I heard her say.
“Lady Anastasia.” I cried even more when I heard the familiar voice. I turned around and saw Peter. He helped me stand up, and I hugged him tight, crying on his shoulder.
“Mother Kiara, she’s… she’s dead, Peter.” I uttered. My voice cracked. He caressed my back.
“I’m sorry, Lady Anastasia. I’m sorry.” He kept on apologizing to me.
Peter is my mother’s trusted man. He’s worked with her for so many years, loyal in serving us.
He’s also the one training me.
“I thought that I would be back there and see her smiling at me.” I cried. He didn’t say a word, but I felt how he comforted me.
“I am here to pick you up, Lady Anastasia,” he uttered. I nodded my head, separated from the hug, and wiped my tears.
“Yana, help me pack all my things. Everything. Do not leave a single item,” I told her. She nodded her head.
I started fixing all my things, making sure that I got everything. I wanted to leave here with no trace.
“Lady Anastasia, thank you for everything you’ve done for me. I will never forget you,” Yana said while we were hurrying to gather all my belongings.
I know everyone is discussing me right now, but I don’t give a fuck anymore. I need to return to my dukehome. I need to be with my mother.
“Lady Anastasia, we have to hurry. After they found out your identity, I’m sure the king is now planning something to drag you,” Peter said. He was right. After all, I am not allowed to enter this kingdom after being exiled.
“We have to hurry, Yana. Thank you for everything. If one day we meet again, I hope you’ll no longer serve in this kingdom. Choose to live for yourself and for your siblings. Here, take this. I hope it will help you.” I gave her my jewelry. She looked at me and couldn’t accept it, but I insisted.
“Lady Anastasia, this is too much. I– I can’t take this. You’ve done enough for me—” I cut her off. I knew it was hard for her to accept, but she needed it. Working in this kingdom is not enough to sustain her siblings’ needs.
“Please, take this as my gratitude. It’s not enough, but it will help you. Thank you,” I told her and placed it in her pocket. Peter carried my bags. Yana also helped.
“Thank you, Lady Anastasia,” she said while looking at me. I smiled. There was no time; we needed to hurry and leave.
I opened the door when I suddenly saw Cassie and Liliane. What were they doing here?
“Vishiea—no, Lady Anastasia,” Cassie said, hesitating about what to call me.
I couldn’t even look into their eyes because of shame. They had been true to me, treated me as a friend, but I lied to them. I never wanted to lie about my identity, but I had to.
I would still consider them my friends. I was about to speak when Cassie held my hand. I looked at her, and she gave me this genuine smile. I got confused. They weren’t mad?
But I lied to them, and they should hate me. They should be angry with me for being a liar.
“Listen, we’re not mad. We’re actually happy that we’ve been friends,” Cassie said. I was surprised to hear those words from her. I looked at Liliane, and she smiled too.
“We understand whatever your reason is, Lady Anastasia. Besides, we’re not in the position to question you,” Liliane said. I bit my bottom lip to stop myself from crying.
I had just met real friends. I was so lucky.
“Vishiea or Lady Anastasia, you’re still our friend. We’re not mad. We’re happy, and we don’t care about everything. We understand. We know… and you have the right to provide whatever reasons you have.” Cassie said. I couldn’t help myself and cried.
They both hugged me. I hugged them tight. Maybe this would be the last time we saw each other.
“Thank you for understanding me. I will always consider both of you my friends,” I said while wiping my tears.
“Wait, where are you going? Are you leaving?” Cassie asked me as she saw the luggage Yana and Peter were holding. I nodded my head.
“I have to go, thank you. I hope we see each other again in the future.” I smiled at them.
“We have to go, Lady Anastasia. We don’t have enough time. We must hurry,” Peter said. I nodded my head.
“Goodbye, Lady Anastasia. I hope we see each other again,” Liliane said as her eyes welled up with tears.
“Goodbye, Lady Anastasia. Until next time,” Cassie said, waving her hands.
“Goodbye, my friends,” I murmured while waving back at them.
We arrived at the exit. I looked at Yana and smiled.
“Thank you, Lady Anastasia. You’re an amazing woman. I just hope you’ll heal from all the pain and sorrow,” she said as I went inside the car.
“Thank you, Yana. Goodbye.” My smile faded away as I left the kingdom.
I just hoped that as I left this place, my pain would also be left behind. I wiped my tears while glancing at the kingdom one more time.
“Goodbye.”
