Chapter 53 Chapter 53: The Queen’s Suspicion
Chapter 53: The Queen’s Suspicion
Vishiea’s POV
“Have you met the former king and queen?” Liliane asked me. I paused for the meantime while remembering how the king exiled me.
Of course, I do know them well. I know the former King Uriel Nightshade.
“I heard a lot of things about them. The former king and queen.” I simply said, showing no interest in talking about them.
If everyone now were tense in their presence, then I don't care. The king didn't even give my father a chance to prove himself innocent. Instead, he listened to the council's accusations without investigating thoroughly what really happened.
My father was blamed for something he didn't even do.
“Well, the former king and queen were actually great. They worked so hard for the betterment of the kingdom. But they are also known as strict.” Liliane said while we were walking through the hallway.
Great? How come they were known here as great; they didn't even flinch as my father's head was cut off.
“Lady Anastasia?” We stopped from walking when someone called my name. Wait—he's Ryder Nightshade, Darius' foster brother. So he's also here.
“Yes, Your Highness?” I bowed my head. Cassie and Liliane also did the same thing. He stared at me for the meantime, recognizing me.
Don't tell me he remembered me?
“Nothing, I just saw you and they are actually right, you're gorgeous.” He murmured. I chuckled.
“Thank you, Sir.” I smiled. Yet I could read the confusion written on his face.
“Is there anything you want to say?” I asked him. I am not comfortable with his presence.
“I am just confused. You look like someone I know.” He said. I faint a smile. Of course, I look like someone. Someone that everyone couldn't forget even for how many years.
“Is that all?” I asked him. He nodded his head and smiled.
“Sorry, you may now go, Ladies.” He uttered. We turned our backs while Liliane and Cassie kept on talking.
“See? They really thought you're Vishiea. Everyone here is thinking that you're the King’s mate.” Liliane said. I just laughed to ease the tension.
“That's only because I look like her. I never saw Vishiea’s picture and I didn't even know her.” I told them. I admit it, I still have a conscience and I don't want to lie to them anymore that I am Vishiea. Because it's really me. It's just that I am afraid to tell them. And what if they found out about it?
What would they feel? Are they going to hate me because I lied to them?
“Well, we can't actually deny the fact that you have similarities with her. But that doesn't mean you are Vishiea, and clearly you are Anastasia Cullen.” Cassie uttered. I nod my head, supporting her words.
“You're right.” I agreed. While we were walking, we saw Nathan. He waved his hand as he saw us.
Liliane faked a cough. And I already know what they mean. They are teasing me again. Liliane is Nathan’s cousin, that's why she's giggling whenever she sees us together. What a supportive cousin.
“I think I forgot something in my room. I’ll just get it.” Cassie suddenly said.
“Wait, here you go again.” I tried to stop her but she left immediately. My gaze shifted to Liliane.
I thought she's not going to leave but I was wrong.
“Right, I have someone to do. Bye-bye Lady Anastasia. Good luck!” She said while walking away.
“Wait! Again?” I let out a deep sigh while watching them leave.
Those two girls are silly. They really thought I didn't know what they were doing. It's obvious they are shifting me and Nathan together.
“Why did they leave you?” Nathan asked as he’s now standing in front of me. I chuckled.
“They went to get something but they’ll be back.” I told him and started walking again.
“I heard what happened to you and the King’s fiancée.” He said, talking about the fight we had.
She asked for that. I don't care if she's hurt, that's not even enough after what she did to me.
“Yes, she challenged me for a fight. I just hate it when someone is trying to talk about shit in our name. I came here on behalf of my mother because she was invested, but she seems to underestimate us, Cullens.” I told him.
“Well, everyone was amazed at how strong you are. You're actually amazing in combat and using weapons.” He said, complimenting me instead of giving comments about the fight between the King’s fiancée and I.
“Thank you, maybe I was just lucky I defeated her for the second time around.” I stayed humble.
He then shook his head.
“It's obvious that you actually have more potential in fighting rather than her. Cullens are not really easy to mess with.” He told me, and that made me smile.
“You're actually right, we're not easy to mess with.” I told him. While we were walking, we both stopped as we saw the queen with the guards walking.
We bowed our heads. “Your Majesty.” We both uttered.
“You may rise.” She said, sounding not interested. She was about to walk away when her attention shifted to me. Her forehead knotted and she tried to recognize me.
I only looked at her and forced a smile.
“You look familiar, what is your name?” She asked me. Does she recognize me?
“I am a daughter of a lone Lycan, Your Majesty. I am Anastasia Cullen.” I answered her. Her brows furrowed while looking at me.
She wasn't convinced at all.
“Have we met before? You really look familiar. I remember you from someone.” She uttered. I shook my head, still a smile written on my face.
“Not really, Your Majesty. This is the first time I came here.” I answered her. She nodded her head slightly.
“Who is your mother?” She asked again, trying to investigate me.
I already know what she's doing.
“Kiara Cullen, Your Majesty.” I answered. She nodded her head.
“Hmm, really? Tell me. Why is it your first time to attend in this kingdom? Are you really Cullen? You seemed like that person. Is that you?” She asked me. I tried to be calm.
“My mother never wanted me to leave our house. She spent her time teaching me how to fight and gain knowledge. At an early age, I learned how to govern our people. That's why I don't have spare time to show our kindness to you.” I answered. She only looked at me. And I know she won't believe whatever I say.
“That's impressive, but let's see.” She said with meaningful words before finally leaving.
