Chapter 43 Chapter 43: A Knight

Chapter 43 Chapter 43: A Knight

Chapter 43: A Knight

Vishiea’s POV

Although I often talk to Nathan right now, I still can't tell him the truth.

I never wanted to be in this place. This kingdom made me suffer for years. It took me years before I finally accepted the truth.

However, I can't help but miss my biological parents. My mom died because someone killed her. My dad was killed by the king, and I was exiled, unable to enter this kingdom. If it weren't for my mother Kiara, I wouldn't be able to enter here with a different identity.

I should get the opportunity to seek revenge. My parents were murdered. I just can't let that slide. While I am still alive, I will find out who murdered my mother.

Let Darius think that I am Vishiea, I don't care if he goes insane. He's also the reason why my dad was killed because he announced and told the king that we were separated. He chose Rachelle over me. He watched me being dragged away from the kingdom, being threatened by the king.

He never flinched while I was in deep sorrow. Now he's acting like he cares about me?

He's been following me around. I don't know exactly what he is up to, but all I know is he's investigating me.

He really doesn't want to stop finding out the truth. But I won't let him succeed. I haven't actually started my plan.

All I thought before was that Darius and I were actually destined to be with each other because we were mated. But the opposite happened. I admit, I was so devastated. I loved him so much before. I gave him my time, understanding his flaws, not because he was going to be announced as the next king but because he was my mate, my childhood friend, because I considered him the love of my life.

I was so attached to him that I forgot myself, my happiness. I was so stupid to spend my whole life with someone who ruined my life, who ruined me.

I regret everything. Darius is not the man for me. He doesn't deserve the love that I gave him.

I was too naïve to think that he might just be busy with work. That’s why he didn't spend time with me just like we always did. I was so stupid to think that everything was just fine, but it’s not.

He didn't just get busy with work—he got busy with Rachelle. The woman he chose to spend the rest of his life with rejected me and wanted me gone.

That pain is still here. I will never forget how he treated me. Now, I will let him do whatever he wants, but he can never earn me again because I am more valuable than before.

“Lady Anastasia, the lunch is ready in the great hall,” Yana said as she entered my room.

After Nathan toured me around the kingdom, even in places I hadn't been before, I actually had a great time with him.

Nathan is actually a great man. He knows how to treat women, and I admire him for that.

“Lady Anastasia, are you alright? The lunch is ready at the great hall.” My attention shifted to Yana while she was confusedly looking at me.

“I’m alright, I was just thinking about something,” I told her as I started preparing myself for lunch. I saw her smiling in the mirror teasingly.

“What's with that smile?” I asked her while fixing my hair. She chuckled.

“I saw you and Knight Nathan yesterday, Lady Anastasia. It seems like you had a great time with him. I saw how comfortable you were with him,” she said while placing her palm on her cheeks.

What did she mean by that? We were just talking yesterday because he toured me in the kingdom.

“Don't give me that look, Yana. Knight Nathan and I are just friends. And if you're thinking about something else, then you're definitely wrong,” I told her and turned around. She helped me fix my dress.

“Yeah, just a friend. There are a lot of girls admiring him. Aside from being good at fighting, he is also known as a gentleman who loves his kingdom. Willing to serve it with all his life. What a dedicated man,” she said while fixing my dress.

I cleared my throat. I saw how her cheeks reddened while thinking about him.

“Do you like Nathan? You seemed interested in him,” I said, and she immediately shook her head. I chuckled because of her reaction.

“I am just a poor servant, Lady Anastasia, but Sir Nathan is actually good together,” she said while looking at me. I sighed and put on my final makeup.

“Things are complicated, Yana. Nathan and I are just friends,” I told her before getting out of my room.

I walked through the great hall and found everyone having their lunch.

As I was about to get silverware, I bumped into someone.

I was about to apologize when I saw Nathan. We both laughed.

“My apology, Lady Anastasia. Here, please,” he said, giving me time to fill my plate.

“Thank you,” I uttered. After I got food, I looked around and the tables were occupied. Nathan seemed to notice it and looked at me.

“Can we share tables?” he hesitated, since I had no other choice.

“Sure.” We walked towards the table and I placed my food on it. He also offered me a seat. What a gentleman.

“You look stunning always,” he uttered. I was surprised, yet I remained calm.

“Thank you. You're always complimenting me. Don't get me used to it,” I told him. He laughed.

“Well, I will always compliment you. You're not just a beautiful woman but also smart,” he said. I chuckled.

“So tell me, why did you choose to be a knight?” I asked him. He glanced at me for the meantime.

“I was just a kid when I dreamed of saving people, to work in this kingdom. To learn how to fight so I could protect someone close to me,” he started. I was surprised because of his answer.

We talked a lot, spent more time getting to know each other, and I discovered things I didn't know before about him.

He's actually more than just a great knight.
