Chapter 38 Chapter 38: Sword's Edge
Chapter 38: Sword's Edge
Vishiea’s POV
“That's impossible!” Rachelle said. She gritted her teeth while looking at me. I smiled at her to fuel her anger.
“Just admit it, Rachelle, you're no match for me.” I started to walk away. “I have no time to waste my efforts on someone like you,” I said as my final words before heading to the exit.
“You bitch! I won't let go of this!” I heard her shout.
“Lady Anastasia, be careful!” Cassie's warning made me turn around. My eyes widened when I saw Rachelle running towards me, holding a sword in her hand.
“You will die!” She tried to strike me; however, I already saw her move and immediately dodged it.
“You can't scare me by doing that, Rachelle.” My eyes caught the other sword and I quickly grabbed it.
Let’s see how good you are at using that sword. In that year I stayed with Mother Kiara, I had undergone several training sessions.
Not just to improve myself but also to teach me various techniques using different equipment.
Now, I will no longer hide the knowledge I’ve learned. Since she wanted this, then I’ll give it to her.
“Really? Then maybe I’ll just cut that throat of yours.” She smirked, confident she would win this time.
“It seems like we will witness another exciting game!” I heard the announcer say.
Everyone made noise. My attention shifted to Darius. Isn’t he going to do something about his fiancée? She just provoked me, and I will make sure that before this game ends, I will leave a mark she’ll regret.
“Maybe you actually have some talent with archery, but this time I will slice that face of yours.” She started to attack me. However, she couldn’t beat me that easily.
“You’re mistaken, Rachelle.” I smirked, which made her angrier. She kept attacking me, but I kept dodging and avoiding her strikes.
“Damn you, bitch!” she exclaimed. I glared at her.
“Now it's my turn.” I hurriedly attacked her; she almost couldn’t dodge my moves. With all my strength, I raised my sword and the clash of steel on steel echoed.
But that wasn’t it. I was not yet done. I moved forward, making her eyes widen as her sword started to break because of the impact. Until finally, she lost her grip on the sword.
“If I were to choose, I’d rather end your life right now. You’re lucky because it’s just a game.” I pointed the sword at her. Her eyes widened when I tried to reach for her skin.
“The winner is no other than Lady Anastasia Cullen!” I smirked at her and threw the sword in front of her.
“Try to do that again and I will make sure to cut your head off,” I said before finally leaving the fighting ground.
“Lady Anastasia! You amused everyone here. It’s indeed true that Cullen has talent.” Cassie showed a genuinely excited smile.
“Well, you surprised us, Lady Anastasia.” Nathan stood up while looking at me.
“That’s very impressive,” Christian commented. My eyes shifted to Darius. He was surprised; I could see it clearly.
“Darius, did you just see that? She almost killed me!” Rachelle went beside him. I secretly rolled my eyes.
“Enough, Rachelle. Everyone saw what you did. The game was over, yet you still tried to attack her from behind,” I didn’t expect him to say that.
“The king is right, everyone saw what you did,” Cassie interfered.
“There’s nothing to be worried about. I know the king’s fiancée didn’t mean to do that.” I told them. I saw how Rachelle glared at me.
“You indeed have a good heart, Lady Anastasia,” Cassie uttered. I simply smiled at her, knowing Rachelle was now on fire.
“As we witnessed the game, the king will personally award the prize to the winner. Lady Anastasia Cullen didn’t only outsmart her opponent but she also showed good sportsmanship, grace, and strength as she won flawlessly,” the announcer said. Darius took a medium-sized box from the table.
“This token symbolizes the history of Lycans. From what you have shown earlier, you’ve earned this prize,” he said, handing me the box.
I was about to take it when our hands touched. I tried to grab the box from his hand, but he intentionally held my hand.
“Your Majesty.” I forced a smile, though inside I wanted to forcefully snatch the prize.
“You actually showed an amazing game. You even have the same style as someone else I remember,” he uttered before finally letting go of my hand.
“I’m tired, and I know the king must be tired too,” Rachelle said, placing her arm on Darius.
“We should celebrate this.” Cassie looked at me with excitement. I nodded my head.
“Congratulations, Lady Anastasia. You indeed amused me.” Nathan faced me. I chuckled.
“Even the knight known for his power in battles seems mesmerized by my performance,” I teased him. He smiled.
Before Nathan could say something, we heard a cough from behind. It was the king.
“Your Majesty, we are inviting you as we celebrate Lady Anastasia’s achievement. The party will be at our place.” Cassie smiled at him.
“The king has no time for a childish party. He has important matters to do for the kingdom,” Rachelle spoke up.
“I see. From that matter, we have to leave.” I bowed.
Inviting the king would only make matters worse. Besides, I am planning to avoid him for the meantime.
I turned my back, Nathan and Cassie followed me.
“I wasn’t informed that Rachelle would become the Royal Herald now. She’s really threatened by your presence, Lady Anastasia,” Cassie said as we walked out of the fighting ground.
She was right. And Darius, the cheater, let her speak on his behalf.
“Let’s just stop thinking about it. Besides, Rachelle is the king’s fiancée,” I told Cassie.
“That’s because she stole King Darius from his mate. She wouldn’t be in that position right now, but she’s too eager to get the king’s attention.” She murmured, but I heard her clearly.
