Chapter 35 Chapter 35: Envy
Chapter 35: Envy
Vishiea’s POV
“Lady Anastasia, I heard what happened between you and the king's fiancè, are you alright?” Yana asked me worriedly. I looked at her and smiled.
I wasn't informed that Rachelle could be that wretched. She just embarrassed herself in front of everyone trying to ruin my image. I can’t just let her obliterate my reputation.
I will ensure that my name is not tarnished by her actions. Our name is respected by everyone. Someone like Rachelle couldn’t dishonor the Cullen family.
After all, Mother Kiara is the only Lycan who accepted me after what happened to me and my parents.
She's the reason why I am still alive. She gave me another life which I would never ever forget for the rest of my existence. I am grateful for what she has done for me.
“I’m fine, there’s nothing to worry about,” I answered her. She nodded her head.
I would not have expected that Cassie would risk herself for me. She’s indeed a great companion. I even forgot to thank her for what she did.
I left immediately because I was displeased with Darius’ presence and might have responded in an unfavorable manner.
Their countenances are quite displeasing. I started to feel irritated just by seeing them.
“Maybe because you resemble someone who once became important to the king,” she uttered, saying something that caught my attention. She knows exactly the reason.
“That’s too bad for her. I am not that person she’s referring to me as.” I told her while looking for a dress to wear for dinner.
“I heard that the King became distant from his fiancè. There are also rumors that the couple occupies separate chambers.” She spoke in a subdued voice. My attention shifted to her.
Where did she hear that? But why would the king do that? They are engaged.
Someone like Darius can't resist temptation. I bet Rachelle wasn’t the only one he spent the night with. He’s a cheater. He would never be content with one woman.
Just like what he did to me. I was never enough for him. I was his mate, yet he found a replacement for me. I was really too stupid to believe in him in the past.
Everything he said was nothing but a rotten promise.
“That’s impossible. I heard they’ve been together for many years. Maybe you just misheard it,” I told her, acting as if I wasn’t interested in the conversation.
I went to check for my accessories. They were given by Mother Kiara. Maybe I could wear them later. Besides, that dinner will also be attended by nobles, that’s why I should look presentable. We Cullens are known for our reputation and I won’t let down our name.
I will show them that Cullen is not just wealthy but also powerful.
“Well, according to the other maids here, they haven’t seen the king visit his fiancè in her chamber,” Yana said. Is that the reason why Rachelle hated me?
The day I stepped my foot into this place the king had already forgotten about her. That’s because that cheater thought I was his mate.
He should stop looking for Vishea because she had long been gone. What could be the possible reason why he is still hoping to see Vishea? The one he ruined years ago.
“Maybe the king is just being traditional,” I gave her my opinion. But that’s impossible. Darius couldn’t resist temptation.
He even dared to force me to admit that I am Vishea. For what? Hoping he could crush me again just like what he did before.
Not again. Never. I already saw my worth.
As time runs out, it’s time to get ready for the formal dinner.
My hair is styled in an exquisite bun, exuding refinement and poise. I wore this elegant earring and necklace gifted by my mother Kiara.
Finally, after putting a generous amount of make-up on my face, I wore a dress which featured a fitted bodice, a flowing skirt, and delicate embellishments that added a touch of luxury. The fabric shimmered and shone, giving off a sense of glamour and refinement.
“Lady Anastasia, you really look great,” Yana said while helping me with the dress. I smiled, staring at myself in the mirror.
“If she’s me, she’ll be seething with envy,” I murmured. I left the room. The dinner will be held at the royal banquet hall.
It didn’t take me minutes after I arrived at the said place. Everyone was already gathered at a long table with exquisite delicacies.
As I approached the table, everyone’s eyes turned to me.
“Lady Anastasia Cullen. Wow! You’re fantastic,” Christian suddenly burst out. I chuckled softly.
“She’s Kiara’s daughter? You outstand us by your appearance, Lady,” an unfamiliar man stood up to greet me. I bowed to them. Darius and his fiancè were also here.
“Lady Anastasia, you really have this charisma.” Cassie offered the available seat beside her.
“Thank you.” Darius’ eyes met mine. I could feel how he stared at me. However, I broke the contact.
“Gorgeous as ever,” I heard Knight Nathan utter beside me. I smiled at him.
“You’re more beautiful than I ever thought. Kiara Cullen actually had a stunning daughter.” An old man said. I smiled at him.
“Thank you, sir,” I bowed my head in respect. Based on the information I gathered, he is the Lunar Council.
“This is the first time I’ve seen Kiara’s daughter. The rumors were actually right. You’re more than a beauty,” the Beta Councilor uttered.
They started to shower me with compliments while eating. However, I could still feel Darius’ stares.
“So, I heard that you took over your mother’s position while she’s unwell?” A woman asked me, maybe one of the Lunar Councils.
“Yes, Ma’am,” I shortly answered. Everyone was surprised.
“You must be smart and wise,” the Beta Councilor told me. I faintly smiled.
“Since I was a kid, Mother Kiara taught me a lot of things. That’s why I am already used to governing our pack,” I told them. They nodded their heads as if they had seen potential in me.
The conversation kept on going between me and the nobles. They complimented me and asked questions which I was able to answer.
However, Rachelle’s piercing gaze couldn’t escape me. Her eyes betrayed anger at being shadowed by me.
Poor Rachelle, no one even gave attention to her. She’s the king’s fiancè, yet it seems like no one ever noticed he
r at this dinner because their attention was on me.
That’s it. Let your anger eat you, Rachelle.
