“You disobeyed me, Violet! Why? Why would you do that?” He glared at her.
“I’m sorry, baby. I’m so sorry! I needed to see you.”
“But I told you not to come here? Didn’t I? Didn’t I?” He could feel anger rising in him, and he quickly turned his face away, so that she wouldn’t see the fury gleam in his eyes. He took a long, slow breath, suppressing his fury. Then he turned to her. She was looking at him strangely now. He began in a low, slow voice. “I told you not to come. It was too dangerous for you to come. That’s why I said you should stay back. I would have come to get you there or something.”
She nodded, wondering why he had suddenly turned his face away from her for that brief moment. But that moment, the thought of seeing came into her mind, and she thought no more of the warning signals she had felt earlier.
“I’m sorry, darling! I wasn’t thinking right,” she murmured and nestled her head into the hollow of his neck, holding him tight, letting the warmth of him comfort her cold body.
Victor felt her shuddering in his arms and he grimaced. Those two men must have really frightened her. And also why was her face swollen?? Surely they must have hit. Yes, that explains it. Even with him still holding her, he could feel her body shivering slightly in his arms. Selena never frightened easily. For her to be like this, then those men must have really thrown a load of scare into her. He continued to touch her face with the ice pack on her face, tenderly, letting it soothe away the pain there. After a while, when he felt it was better, he dropped the ice pack on a nearby table. Gingerly, he lifted her head with his palms so that he could see her face. They both stared at each other with a starving intensity. Mollified, he touched his lips to hers. They kissed for sometime, then he pulled away.
“Violet! What the hell did those men do to you?” He asked staring hard into her She shifted uneasily in his arms.
“They didn’t do much. They only hit me, that's all. I guess I blanked out or something,”
Victor digested all these but he was not satisfied.
“Tell me exactly what happened,”
"After I hung up with you, I couldn't stay in the house anymore. So I got dressed and went out. The streets looked like a war zone. There was blood and those... those animals everywhere," Selena recounted, her voice tense. Victor's face tensed at the mention of "animals," but he remained silent. "They were all dead. Every last one of them. I saw some of the Fur Hunters too, dead with their mouths open. It looked like they took a lot of hits. Anyway, I was on my way here when I ran into those two men at the town entrance," she continued, pausing briefly. "They asked where I was going, and I told them I was heading into the woods. They tried to stop me, said they were taking me to the Sheriff. I managed to get away, but they chased me in their car. They caught up and cornered me. I had to stop running because I thought they might hit me with the car. They got out, and one of them punched me in the face. That's how I got this," she said, touching her swollen cheek. "I've never been hit like that before. I think I passed out. When I woke up, I was here," she finished, her voice trailing off.
“You walked? You mean you planned to walk to this place?” He asked incredulously.
“Yes! It’s not really much of a distance coming here, if you really looked at it.”
Victor swore loudly. He stared at her the way you look at a child that needs a good spanking.
“You ought to be more careful, Violet. You could have been hurt, really hurt,” there was anger in his voice. “These woods can be quite dangerous at night. Walking all over from the town to this place is place absurd!” He paused, feeling rage seeping through him, and he went on.“ And those Fur Hunters, the men looked really tough. That punch could have broken your neck or something” he said lividly.
“I know. But if one of them hadn’t hit me so bad, I was gonna fight back. My dad didn’t raise no spineless girl,” she said stubbornly.
Victor didn’t say anything to this. He was thinking about the two men he had killed and the car. He really hoped the current of the river would take care of those bodies and the car. If things worked out that way, it would be safer for everyone. Everyone that is Selena and him. Well, I must, especially her. He doesn’t want any heat on her either from Caesar or anyone in the damned town.
“So how did you find me?” She said, injecting into his thoughts.
Victor stiffened. This was a ground filled with broken egg shells. He needed to tread carefully. He knew the thing to do was to lie. There was no way he was going to tell her what he did to those two men without frightening her.
“When you ended the call, knowing how stubborn you can be if you want to,” he shrugged. “I figured you would likely come here. I needed to stop that. So I got on my bike and hit the road. My one thought was to go into that town and bring you here myself. Of course, I didn’t know where you live. But I believe there’s always a solution to everything. Who knows I might even meet you halfway to this place? Anyways, luckily for me, I found you lying on the road and I brought you back here. I went out to see I wasn’t being followed. Then I came back here. And you were already awake,” he lied easily but within him he felt like a jerk.
“So you mean you were coming to get me even knowing you were putting yourself at risk? Knowing you might see Caesar?” She said, her eyes growing round with surprise.
“Is that what you think of me?” He stared hard at her. “You think I would, I'm so heartless, will let you come down here with all those ruckus going on in that town and I wouldn’t do anything?”
“No” she felt a sudden weakness surge through her. “I never for once thought of you as heartless,”
“Don’t ever think of me as uncaring or heartless especially when it concerns you,” he gripped her chin, his dark eyes held hers. “Do you understand?”
She nodded weakly, her body longing for him.
He saw the starving desire on her face and he pulled her to him, holding her close. She put her arms around him and her face against his. The feminine smell of her intoxicated him. Her smooth cheek against his sent blood pounding in his ears. They were like that for some moments holding onto each other, then she felt a pang of desire run through her and she tightened her grip.
“Don’t ever think of me as heartless,” he said, his hands sliding down her back and cupping her buttocks. “I know you are still unsure about how I feel about you. That’s fine. I don’t blame you for thinking that way. The time is gonna come…..the time you will know how I really feel. But just so you know, you drive me crazy, Violet……you drive me so fucking nuts. I’m so mad over you,”
She ran her fingers through his thick, black hair.
“Oh, Victor, ”
He slightly pulled away from her so that he could look at her face, into those beautiful, violet eyes.
“Yes, baby, You needed to know that. You needed to know how much disturbed I am about you,”
Smiling happily at him, Selena touched her lips to his. He felt her lips yield to him and he drew her closer to him. He slipped his hand into her blouse and it closed over her breast, it felt firm and full, imprisoned in his hand. She shivered and moaned, the sound of it sent blood rushing into his manhood. Tenderly, he placed her on the bed. Expertly, he slipped her blouse off her. She wasn’t wearing any bra. Her breasts were very white and appealing. He leaned right over her on the bed. He lowered his face against the hotness of her breasts and groaned. He slipped one rosy, hard nipple into his mouth. She moaned, held his head tightly to her breasts, and felt curled up on the bed.
