Chapter 81

Will's POV

Its been a month now since Kai went on bed rest and she has regained some of her strength, but is still on bed rest. She takes short walks to take care of her plants and minimal royal duties so not to stress the babies. It was quite a shock to me that she was pregnant since I thought we would have more time before children were brought into the picture. I knew I wanted to be a father and looked forward to it, but I wanted my mate to myself for just a while longer.

Looking over some business report on the increase in revenues this year things seem to be smoothing out for the better. Most of the Clans that were trying to demand marriage alliances have backed off hearing about the queen being put on bed rest. My parents have moved out of the mansion which has helped Kai establish her authority as queen in her own home. Mother wanted to stay and help her, but Kai declined saying she had me and Nico looking after her. I knew she didn't want her company since their personalities were polar opposites.

Jace has been looking into the Witch's Clan seeing who's been doing dealings with them and it was no surprise that the Vampire Clan has been footing the bill for their excursions. I still have my suspicions that there are more Clans involved, but until solid proof was found I had to maintain a sense of neutrality. I still worried that the we were in the calm before the storm. While its only been a month since we locked up a witch counsel member and her guards it seems like they were trying to make head way with some if their guards. I had a couple fall for their tricks to see what would happen and they didn't disappoint.

Diana tried to cast a control spell through the bars but her hand sizzled as she tried to cast. Another time she tried giving one something from her robes and was thrown to the wall as pill fell out of her robs. The guard took some to our scholars to see if they could make out what its made of. A knock at my door pulled me from my thoughts as Phillipe walks in a bit brighter in demeanor then I've ever seen him. “Good morning brother you seem to be in a good mood. Whats got you giddy in your step?” I asked curious as to whats got him so abuzz.

He turned to me saying, “I think I've found my mate, but I am courting her first so not to scare her. When we are more secure in our relationship I'll tell you who it is, but for now I'll keep her to myself.” he looked far to smug like her had the best treat in the world and he wasn't sharing. “If she's got you so tight lipped you won't tell you older brother her name she must be real special. I'm happy for you,” I said clapping his back giving him a brotherly shake.

“Thanks man. I always knew I could count on you about personal matters,” Phillipe said sincerely then pulled out an envelope saying, “I did the investigation you asked me about, and found out some very interesting facts.” Opening the envelope pictures, bank note's, and recording stones were attached making me think I need to be more worried about the other Clans more. The dragon prince was still trying to find ways to win Kai's affections, but no one here would speak about her. Her protection was everyone's priority now so there was no getting through our defenses.

Flipping though the rest of the report I see the last page which catches my attention immediately. I couldn't believe what I was reading having doubts, but this was my brother he's never hand my a false report. Looking up at him his face said he knew what I was reading. “This could get bad. This one may still try for her hand.”

I already had to share her with one mate I wasn't looking to add to the roaster of mates she has. Reading the report again I try to figure out a way to avoid this if not stop him from coming because as it says here he's already on his way. “Make preparations for the Dragon Clan Prince.”
