Chapter 78
Phillipe's POV
Will assigned me to looking after the witch prisoner's we had in our cells. I knew they wanted Kai from everything they said to Kenna, but I what I wanted to know was why punish Lysa? She may be a spoiled brat, but that's no reason to go after her. I was surprised to hear that she was the true mate to an Original, a Witch Original at that. Even with all the deception between the two they still held each other like they were the only ones that matter. As I watched Diana take in the scene of her daughter hold a wolf I learned that Diana has a great distant for wolves. The others present didn't so much as blink leading me to believe they followed everything Diana said and did.
As the guard lead them to their cell Diana spoke saying, “It could have been you ya know? She could have been your mate seeing as you both are twins.” It irritated me that she would use her daughter like that just as if she could pass her off like a loaf of bread. “If you knew Lysa at all you'd know that Kenna was always hers, even before they knew they were mates.” Diana scoffed as I locked her cell. Walking away I went to make my way up the stairs when Diana said, “Are you sure of that? Twins tend to share everything.”
Walking back in look her in the eyes standing up close to the bars as I said, “We never shared anything that was ours. Not friends and certainly not lovers or mates. And if I know Will he's make sure you'll never have power over her again.” Making my way up the stairs I could hear her yelling in frustration. Satisfied that at least one of the prisoner's here was miserable I went to my father's office to speak with him. When I got there I heard my parents talking my mother saying, “Don't let him get to you. You know he hasn't got the balls to oppose you.”
I slowed my steps standing next to the door listening as my father says, “Yeah especially because I have him tired up ready to transport at a moments notice. We may need him for this next part.” Who are they talking about? I thought to myself waiting to hear more, but it didn't seem like they were going to say more. It also sounded like they were getting busy with each other so I made my way back to my office to continue to look into the Witch problem.
As I turn the corner to go to my office I run into someone knocking them down. “My apologies, I should have been paying more attention,” I said as I held my hand out to help her stand. She took it saying, “Elf's foot falls are silent so it was my fault for not making myself known. I'm Anya,” She said as she righted herself. I got a good look at her which caused my wolf to stir awake. “I'm Phillipe the queens brother. Its a pleasure to finally meet you,” I said kissing her hand that smelled like a flower meadow as the sun comes up in the morning.
Her cheeks turn pink as she gave me a shy smile saying, “I am on my way to see the queen. I'm sorry for disturbing your work.” She went to walk around me but my hand shot out grabbing her arm then I dropped it realizing I shouldn't. “Sorry I got to go,” I said moving away from her to my office. Walkin gin then closing the door my wolf, Rider, was pacing in my mind as if he was tracking something.
What's the matter? Your awful antsy, I said to him. That female elf.........I think she's our mate, Rider said stiffly. What?! I said surprised. Her scent did appeal to me and she was pleasing to look at, but I hadn't had any signs before now. Are you sure? Maybe we are going into heat? I said trying to rationalize this situation. She's our mate. There's never been a female that has appealed to us like she does. What else would you think? Rider said matter of factly.
I couldn't believe I finally found my mate, but I wasn't sure if she would accept me. I was different from her kind and lived differently as well. For now I should just get to know her maybe go talk with Kai about her. I thought to myself. I was about to make my way to Kai's office when I seen her doctor running to her rooms. Mind linking Will I asked, “What's happening? Why is Kai's doctor here? Is she okay?” Will explained what happened which worried me because she was never one to become ill. “Anya is waiting in Kai's office to speak with her. I will go let her know the queen is indisposed for the time being.” “Thanks, Phil I will keep you up to date on Kai,” Will said cutting the connection.
Leaving my office to go to Kai's I was a bit nervous as to what happened to her. Anya would be worried since she was here to see her. Opening the door I see Anya standing at the window the light shining on her silver hair as she stared out the window. I didn't want to move, but she turned to me when I opened the door a bit surprised to see me. “I thought I was seeing the queen today. Did she send you to me?” She asked. “Yes and no. The queen fainted and her doctor is taking care of her now. She'll be indisposed for the time being. If you have anything for her just leave it on her desk and she will read it as soon as she is able,” I said to her being polite to her. Anya nodded heading for the door when I said, “If your not busy maybe I can take you to dinner?”
She stopped at the door looking back at me shocked. “You want to have a meal with me? Why?” she asked unsure of me. I knew I rushed my question, but I recovered saying, “My sister wouldn't want you put out from having to come here, and I would like to get to know you a bit seeing as you'll be around more.” Turning to me she thinks for a moment then says, “Alright. I am free now since the queen is unavailable. Shall we go?” she asked me. I smiled at her answer offering her my arm as we walk out of Kai's office to go have lunch together.
