I wanted to see the look on Olivia’s face when she saw me picking her up at the airport. I had two warriors with me in case she tried anything. Kyle said her flight would arrive by 7am. I looked at my watch, it showed 5:55am. I was early but I didn’t want her to think she could walk away freely.

I checked my phone, Ruby would still be sleeping. Her last text had me concerned. What would Alpha Michael say to us both? His life was sadly taken so soon. Something didn’t feel right. I didn’t care if I had to torture Olivia to get answers. Kyle said to do what needed to be done.

I felt like time was going slow. I looked at my watch again. Finally 7am. I saw the plane coming in and knew it was time. A few different passengers got off, including Olivia. The absolute terror in her face when she saw me was everything I needed to start my day.

“Hello Olivia. These wonderful men here are going to carry your bags and escort you to the car out front.” I said through clenched teeth.

We arrived back at the pack house and Olivia tried to head into the house on her own. I motioned my men to stop her. She protested but then stopped, turned to look at me and opened her mouth.

“Is there a reason I’m not allowed to go to my room?”

“About that. You have been moved to another room, temporarily, of course.” I said with a smirk on my face.

“By all means, show me the way, Alpha.” She said, with a cocky tone.

I had my men grab her by the arms and led them to the cold dark cells below the pack house. Once Olivia saw her new living arrangements she started to freak out.

“Wait… no Karson, don’t do this.” She pleaded.

“Oh yes, Olivia, I think I will. What you did is called treason and until I get to the bottom of it you will remain here, chained up.” I said, as I motioned my men to chain her up with the pure silver chains. As soon as they were placed on her wrists, she was hoisted up hanging by her wrists, screaming in pain.

“What did you and Collin talk about while you were there?” I demanded.

“The more you wiggle, the more pain it brings you. What was your plan?” I asked again. Olivia continued to scream in pain. I left her in her cell, closed the door and left. I would try again in the morning.

My alarm went off at 8am. I slapped it a few times hoping it would shut off… It never did. I got up and showered and put on my black pants-suit, a white blouse, black blazer and black flats. I walked down the stairs to find my mother at the kitchen table wearing a simple yet elegant black dress. She wore low heels and kept her hair in a low bun. I could tell she had already cried. The funeral took place deep in the wooded area behind the Pack house. Only those deemed worthy warriors were buried here. Since my father was Beta to the late Alpha Michael, he was considered most honored. Alpha Michael wasn’t buried but cremated. Alpha’s and Luna’s were the only ones who were allowed that honor. Everyone else was stuck in the ground.

I was surprised to see so many people at my father's funeral. My father made an impact on many lives. By the time the service ended, we headed back up to the pack house for food and drink. I wasn’t too keen on going, but I told my mom to stay close to me after what happened at the fundraiser.

I texted Karson to let him know how everything was going.

I put my phone away and went in with my mother and brother. I didn’t see Collin, so that was good. My mother was talking to some of her friends and Jordan was sitting by himself playing a video game. “Hello, I’m Clair.” She said, I thought it was weird to just blurt that out in a bathroom. I quickly went into the stall and sat down. I was sitting in my office going over a plan to make Olivia talk with my Beta, Luke. I was getting more upset the longer she stayed silent. She didn’t realize just how crazy I was about to get.

“Maybe we should start breaking fingers. She might want to talk then.” Luke suggested.

“That’s a possibility. Let’s also bring out the pure silver…” My words stopped. I felt this uneasiness come over me, my face felt as if it had been punched and my breath got caught up in my chest.

“Alpha, are you alright?” Luke asked. I wanted to answer but I couldn’t. Just then, my phone started ringing. I tried to reach for it but couldn’t. Luke quickly answered and placed my phone on speaker.

“This is Luke, Alpha is having trouble talking. What do you need, Nate?” Luke said as he rushed to my side. The phone was silent before Nate finally spoke.

“Alpha, Luna Ruby is missing!”

Those words caused me to growl so loudly, the whole house shook.

“What do you mean she’s missing?” I hissed.

“Ruby’s mother said she didn’t return from the funeral. One minute she’s here, the next she’s gone.” Nate said, sounding scared.

“Luke, call the jet, tell them to meet me at the port in 20 minutes! Also, I don’t care if you have to beat the living moon goddess out of Olivia. I want answers.” I growled as I got up, grabbed my phone and left the house.

I tried to link Ruby. I at least had that option but she didn’t respond.

“Alpha Collin’s phone, this is Luna Heather answering.” She didn’t do anything wrong, so I toned down my voice.

“Luna Heather, this is Alpha Karson. I’m not sure you are aware, but my mate has gone missing in your territory.” I said calmly.

“Oh no. Collin and I will keep our eyes open. We are on our way back to the pack now.” Heather replied.

“You mean Collin is with you?” I was confused.

“Yes we were visiting Cross Stone Pack discussing the rogue attack that took place a while back. I do hope you find Luna Ruby soon. I pray the moon goddess keeps her safe.” I thanked her and hung up.

This didn’t make sense. If Collin was away, then where was Ruby?

I told Heather to get ready fast. We were leaving for Cross Stone Pack in California. I didn’t want to be the first suspect on Karson’s radar. I sent a text to Clair letting her know to be gentle with Ruby.

I felt my phone buzz in my pocket. I glanced at it quickly. It was Clair. I excused myself and walked towards the bathroom, answering my phone.

“Talk.” I said

“She’s in the cells, awaiting your return.” Clair reported.

“Good girl. I’ll be back later tonight, keep her company until I get back.” I replied and hung up the phone.

The meeting ended and everyone voted that the attack was random, since nothing more has happened since. We got back on the jet and headed back home. I felt exhausted and fell asleep on the flight back.

I stretched and looked at Heather as she was putting my phone down.

“What’s going on? Who was that?” I asked.

“That was Alpha Karson. Apparently, Luna Ruby went missing after her father's funeral and no one knows where she is.” Heather said, looking sad.

“I’m sure she’s fine. She just lost her father, she probably needed to get away.” I said, still playing like I wasn’t involved.

It was late when we got back. I walked Heather to her room, still pretending to be the doting mate. I waited for her to fall asleep before I went to the cells to see Ruby.
