Another text came through but it wasn’t from Collin. I had friends in many places, especially ones who worked as private investigators. The message came from Chad, a long-time friend in the PI business.
We got a request for information on Ruby Hale. I knew you mentioned her before. The request came from Olivia Pearson from Sunset Crest Pack. I’ll forward the number- Chad
The forwarded message asked for dirt, anything that could be used against her. Apparently, this Olivia chick had a thing for her Alpha, and yet it turned out Ruby was his fated mate. I was indeed happy that my friend had finally found her mate, but now I’d have to come up with false information to keep her safe from yet another bully. I needed to meet this chick, maybe I could see for myself how Ruby was doing. I switched messages back to Collin and sent one last text.

I placed my phone in my pocket and returned to my rental car. If this Olivia girl was anything like the bullies back in my pack, I needed to be on my A game. I punch the address of a shitty hotel on my GPS. It's 20 minutes near the Sunset Crest pack, I’ll also have to pick up some different clothes so I won't look suspicious.
I arrive at the Dusk motel, head into the front office and pay for a couple of nights. I grabbed my key card and headed up to my room. Once inside, the lingering smell of cigarettes and booze hits my face. I can use this to my advantage. I dropped my bag after being satisfied with the room and headed out to the nearest store.
I drive into town and spot a used clothing store, I park and head inside. I found what I was looking for, a pair of dark faded blue jeans and a black tank along with a ball cap. I get ready to head to the cash register when a foul stench hits my nose, a rouge. I could use that to my advantage, since they know how to cover up their scents. If I'm to meet this ‘Olivia’ I need to mask my beta smell.
I casually bump into the rogue, he looks at me and lets a growl slip. I bare my canines and he cowers a bit. I smiled at him and started up a conversation.
“You look like you could use some cash.” I said to him.
“Ya, what’s your point?” He growls at me
“500 bucks if you find me something to mask my scent.” I smirked. His behavior seems to take a different turn.
“You got yourself a deal there buddy. I’m Issah.” Issah says, extending his hand.
“Call me K.” I replied, taking his hand. I give him my room number and the motel name, where he can drop off the goods, head to the front, pay for my items and leave. I found the nearest library came up with some fake documents, only adding some actual details like her birthday, school, ect.
I get a text from Luna Heather, who says she found Alpha Michael’s reason for Ruby’s banishment. I replied back with a fax number telling her to forward it to me. I walk up to the librarian and let her know I'm expecting a fax, she clears her throat and walks over to the machine, hands me the paper and goes back to her work.
No one in our pack knew the reason why Ruby was banned, so this was something I myself wanted to know. I knew Heather was jealous that Collin was infatuated with Ruby but I knew she wouldn’t do anything that would cost her; her position. I read the fax: banned for sleeping with an alpha and plotting to get rid of his luna while his luna was away!
That didn’t sit well with me. Seeing how Heather wasn’t Luna when Collin was messing with Ruby, I could still use this. I place the picture of Ruby in it along with the fake documents and head back to my motel. Once inside, I reached for my phone and dialed Olivia’s number.
“Hello. Who is this?” She questioned.
“Ms. Pearson, who I am, is not important. I was told you needed information on a certain female wolf. Does that ring a bell for you?” I told her, in my lowest voice.
“Yes, hello. What do you have for me?” She asks. I can tell she’s interested.
“I have a file for you. Meet me at Duke's tavern on the outskirts of town. Say 9 o’clock?”
“I’ll see you there.” She hangs up the phone. Now I need to get ready to meet this girl. I throw my phone on the bed and start to get dressed. A knock on the door turned my attention. The rogue from earlier is standing there. A small smile curls up on my face.
“You have what I need?” I asked Issah.
“Yes. Drink it now, it will last for a day and a half.” I looked at the contents. Happy with it, I hand Issah the money and he leaves. I drink the contents of the liquid.
Yuck, it tastes putrid. I shower, get dressed and head to the tavern. Not a bad little place. I order a bourbon and take a seat in the back and wait.
A few hours later, a hot looking girl walks in with disgust on her face. This must be Olivia. She orders a drink and comes up to me.
“You must be Ms Pearson?” I said, extending my hand for her to shake.
“The pleasure is all mine.” She said as she sat down. “What do you have for me?” She asked, getting straight to the point. I slid a file over the table to her,
She went to pick up the file, but I placed my hand down on it, preventing her. She got all confused, all I could do was give her my sadistic smile.
“We didn't get a chance to discuss my payment.” I said almost in a low growl.
“Oh, I didn't forget, but you didn't mention what it was you wanted in return!” She says coldly.
“It was a long trip here for me and I could use the company for a night.” I told her.
“Do you have a room?” She asked.
“I have a room at that Dusk motel down the road. Show me a good time and I’ll be at your beck and call anytime you need anything.” I said, adjusting my now hard groin.
“You have yourself a deal.” She said, shaking my hand. We finished our drinks and headed outside to where her taxi was. We got in and her attention went to the driver.
“Dusk motel,” She said. The driver didn't respond and drove us there.

I’m running, but from what? I can’t see where I’m going, it’s too dark. I could hear screaming. Is it my twins? Is it Karson? Come back here, you belong to me! I feel trapped. Someone keeps screaming the same thing but I don’t see anyone.
I woke up in a cold sweat. I’m in mine and Karson’s room. I look over and he’s sleeping peacefully still. I pulled my knees to my chest and lay my head on them. It was just a nightmare, I tell myself, but it felt so real. My nerves are messing with my sleep now.
I felt it too. Flora tells me.
I feel something awful is about to happen. I told her, feeling shaky.
We will keep our eyes peeled, our mate will not let anything happen to us.I hope you're right.
I tried to lay back down but I couldn't seem to fall back asleep, instead I started packing. We’re leaving for Emerald Forest Pack today. It’s only for 2 days and yet I can't sit well thinking about it. I was almost finished with packing when I noticed Karson stirring in his sleep. He sits up looking worried until he sees me in the doorway of our bathroom.
“What’s wrong, my love?” I smiled at him. “I couldn’t sleep, nerves.” I said as I shrugged my shoulders. Karson opens his arms, inviting me to come to him. I walked over and accepted his invitation. His scent helps to calm me.
“Karson, I love you.” I whispered to him. He doesn’t say anything, then it dawns on me. This is the first time I’ve told him I loved him. I looked up at him. He looked shocked but then opened his mouth to speak.
“Ruby, I love you too.” I sat there in his arms for a few hours, up until the twins woke up.
We finished packing, ate a small breakfast and met in Theo’s office. Theo and Hope were happy to watch the twins while we were gone. Karson had the car out front ready with our bags. We kissed and hugged the kids and told them to be good to Hope and Theo.
“Don’t worry mama, gam gam and pop pop are here with us.” Alec says, Anna, still holding her doll, nods her head in agreement with Alec.
The driving wasn’t too bad. We reached the airport and I could feel my nerves act up again. I had to remind myself a few different times that going home was different this time. I’m going with my mate. I was excited to see my family again. We headed into the lobby and bypassed the ticket booth.
“Karson, don't we need our tickets?” I asked him.
“No love, we’re taking the private jet.” I looked at him shocked. He has a private jet? Karson looks at me and laughs.
“We have more money than you know, my love.” He says, grabbing my hand and placing a kiss on my knuckles.
Once we got on the jet, we were given champagne and chocolate covered strawberries.
Royalty feels nice, doesn’t it, Ruby? Flora popped up.
I couldn’t help but chuckle. I’ve never been on a private jet, only commercial, but it did feel nice. The flight was only a few hours long. The captain came on over the loudspeaker letting us know we were descending into Portland, Oregon. Once again, my nerves were climbing back up, but disappeared when Karson grabbed my hand.
“Together, my love. It’s you and me.” Karson tells me.

The fundraiser was tomorrow and Kyle still wasn’t back. I needed to know if he found anything on Ruby. I missed her, no matter who I fucked I only thought of her. The way she moaned when I slammed my dick into her, her begging eyes. Just thinking about her makes me hard.
“Alpha Collin, Beta Kyle has just arrived.” Clair said, bowing her head. I may have time to take her to my office and punish her for speaking without being asked. That mouth of hers needs to be taught a lesson. Instead, I headed outside to meet my Beta.
“Kyle, give me some good news.”I said, walking out of the pack house.
“No new information, other than what I sent in my text.” Kyle says, grabbing his bag.
I was about to ask more questions, but I was distracted by a scream coming from the house. Both Kyle and myself look at each other and rush into the house. We see Heather rushing down the stairs with a smile on her face.
“My Luna, are you OK? What’s wrong?” Kyle asks Heather. I’m not interested. I start walking away but what she says has me turning around real fast.
“I’m pregnant! Oh my goddess I’m pregnant!” She couldn’t seem to contain her excitement.
Fuck! I said to myself.
We have a pup on the way, finally! Chase says excitedly .
“Congratulations, Luna,” Kyle says to her.
“Are you sure it’s mine?” I asked her. She looks at me angrily.
“Of course it’s yours. Who else would it be?” She snaps back.
Mark our mate! Chase growls at me.

“Is everything ready for the fundraiser?” I asked Heather.
“Yes! And now we get to tell all the pack members and council that you have an heir on the way… finally!” She answers back.
Damn, I thought I could pretend she didn’t say anything, but knowing her big ass mouth, she’s gonna tell everyone that comes tomorrow. I walked past Heather, grabbing Clair’s hand, heading to my office.
“I take it Alpha isn’t happy?” Kyle asked Heather. “I guess not.” Was all I heard when I shut my office door.
The next day came all too fast. I had all the omegas finishing the last bit of details for the fundraiser. I knew the council members would be arriving in a few hours, but I was more excited about meeting the famous Alpha Karson, the last of the royal bloodline.
I finished getting my tux on, and headed to the Luna suite. I wanted to make sure Heather was going to be on her best behavior. I didn’t need to be embarrassed by her tonight. I entered her room as she was still getting dressed. Her hair is done up in a tight bun, she’s wearing a tight fitted black dress that shows too much, I growl at that.
“You are NOT wearing that with the council members coming here.” I snapped at her. She turned to look at me with a disgusted look on her face.
“And why the hell not? I’m your Luna, I should be able to wear what I want.” She snaps back.
I walked over to her closet and pulled out another decent and yet respectable lavender-colored dress that had a flowy vibe to it and threw it at her.
“You will wear this instead of that, you look like a slut.” She grumbles at me but doesn’t argue as she slips off her current dress and changes.
“I’ll meet you downstairs.” I said as I left her room. I got to the bottom of the stairs and saw my father. I walk over and engage in conversation. He’s holding a whiskey glass. I can tell he’s ready for tonight as well.
“I hear your Luna is with child, congratulations are in order.” He says, shaking my hand.
“I can’t be sure it’s mine.” I told him. He looked at me, shaking his head.
“It’s yours Collin.”
“Excuse me, Alpha's, your guests are arriving,” Clair says, interrupting us.
“Well, let’s get the show on the road.” Alpha Michael says. I nodded my head in agreement. Heather walks down the stairs finally looking appropriate. She takes my arm as we start to greet our guests. Everyone makes it on time and is mingling, a few more Alpha’s from different packs show up. I still haven’t seen Alpha Karson yet and I’m starting to get impatient, thinking he isn't coming. After all I go back in with the rest of the guests.
Everything is going as planned, I’m greeting everyone when my attention is pulled away by an omega announcing our last guest.
“Introducing Alpha Karson and his Luna from Sunset Crest.”
I stop in my tracks when I see her, so many emotions are running through me. Anger and jealousy are the main ones, but I know I must have misheard, there's no way he said Luna! Chase is whimpering inside my head. He, too, is trying to figure out why my girl is on the arms of another man looking so sexy in that red dress.
I walked up to the pair, a wicked smile upon my face as I greeted her.
