Chapter 30 Chapter 29:
Alisha:
It’s very well evident that Arya wouldn’t leave Devon alone, so I have taken to my other plan, there’s only one reason that can make a woman leave: Burning jealousy.
Seemed like even after that push down the escalator, Arya just jumped right up, smiling and acting perfectly, she irks me out. I am in a coffee shop, smiling brightly, the door is pushed open and the person that I have been waiting for walks towards me. Finally.
“I thought you weren’t going to show.” I say, still smiling.
Daphne narrows her eyes at me stubbornly; it’s very evident that she hates me, but I have to swallow up my pride and speak politely to her.
She sits down.
“I already ordered,” she looks at the mug of coffee on the table and frowns. “Have a sip.”
“No way am I letting you poison me.” Her voice is cold.
I smile, but it’s forced. “Oh come on, Daphne. I know that over the years, we haven’t been each other's companions.”
“Companion? You called me a bitch countless times,” she folds her hands, “You threaten to fire me if I don’t let you see Devon, you are unbelievable.”
I clench my knuckles into a fist underneath the table, gritting my teeth. She smirks; I can’t let her see how much this is affecting me.
“What do you want from me?” She finally asks, not smiling.
“Just make it seem like you and Devon are secretly lovers, then one day. Send the photo to Arya, make her cry and leave.”
She narrows her eyes the more, “What the fuck?”
“Look, I need her to leave Devon so I can be with him. I love Devon.”
“That’s not love!” She raises her voice and everyone in the coffee shop turns to look at us, my face reddens with embarrassment. “That's an obsession!”
“Well, I don’t care. I am not doing that shit for you. Fuck you. I respect Devon and Arya too much to hurt them.” She relishes the angry look on my face, taking satisfaction. Bet she’s enjoying this right now, I want to punch her in the jaw.
Thank goodness I came with a solution in case she refuses. “I know that one of your families has cancer, and you need money for the surgery. Do this for me, Daphne and I will take care of everything.”
It’s my turn to take satisfaction in her shocked face; she shifts in her seat, shaking. “How did you know? Are you spying on my family?” Her face is red with utmost anger. Shit. I think I just annoyed her.
“I just know a lot of things, Daphne.” I sigh, this doesn’t seem to be working. Am I going to have to beg this bitch before she accepts? “A relative of yours needs money for cancer, and you are tossing away an opportunity for you to save them?”
Her shoulder slumps, lips frowning. I know it: I have won her over.
She threads with her words carefully. “Are you sure that you will pay the full surgery money?”
This time, I smile wider. “Yes dear, as long as you do what I tell you to do.”

Anna:
Theo’s hands are everywhere on my body, searching, exploring. His lips linger on my neck as he drops me on the bed and gently parts my thighs. Heavy rain pounds on the window, but I am too intoxicated to notice, because I am lost in his arms, in his sweet smell.
We lay in the bed of the hotel room, our bodies tangled together in the sheets as we kiss hungrily, his hands roaming everywhere, I kiss him back with the same intensity, I let him consume me, he can do whatever he wants with my body because it’s easier to forget whenever I am with him.
“Say you belong to me.” He says darkly into my ears, his hand sipping beneath my skin, teasing my bare skin. His lips trail along the nape of my neck. Heat consumes me as I cling closer to him, desperately trying to feel his body heat.
“Saying you fucking belong to me!” He bites down at my neck, and I whimper, pain and pleasure blinding me.
“I belong to you!” I say hoarsely as he bites down again.
“Good girl.” My cheeks are flushed as he trails his hand over my lips, smiling mischievously at me. We both slump on the bed, my head resting on his bare chest, feeling the steady rise and fall of his heart.
I stare up at the ceiling, breathless and sweaty from our amazing night together, darkness streams from the window, the room dimly lit. “I enjoyed my night with you.” I say.
“You make me feel sane, Anna.” Theo’s deep voice resounds in my ears and I feel tempted to push him against the headboard and kiss him senseless, but of course, I have a very douchebag husband waiting for me at home.
Slipping out of Theo’s grip feels like hell, all the warmth leaving me. “I have to go.” I whisper hoarsely.
A cloud of disappointment washes over his face, sadness evident in his face. “Do you really have to go?”
I sigh. “I have a husband, Theo.”
“I don’t mind, I still want you.” Reluctantly, he lets go of my waist as I sit up straight, my body aching. He comes behind me, burying his face under my neck to make me moan. “Does he make you feel like this? Does he fuck you the way I do?”
A shiver runs through my spine as I bite my lips from replying to him.
“Answer me!” His breath tingles on my neck.
“No, he doesn’t.” I murmur as he wraps his large arms around my waist, tugging me closer.
“Then stay the night with me, please.”
“I can’t.” I painfully say, standing up and grabbing my coat from the edge of the seat. I button it up, aware that his eyes are intently on me. My chest tightens a bit as I breathe in, to me. Theo Duncan is like one of those men, people I spend the night with and in turn, they protect me and give me money.
However, Theo Duncan is starting to get attached which is starting to make me uncomfortable, this is always no strings attached. I give him a kiss on the cheeks as I quietly walk out of the hotel, the rain is pouring heavily as I drive home, thunder rumbling from every corner.
When I reach home, I know something is wrong. Kevin is waiting for me standing beside the couch, his eyes dark with pure fury.
Fuck, I wonder what’s going on.
“Hey, baby.” I thread carefully, dropping my coat on the rack. “Heavy downpour outside, haven’t you gone to bed yet?” Kevin wouldn’t bother asking where I have been because I told him I was hanging out with Clara all day, of course. My husband brought it all.
“You are faking it.” He spits out, his voice thick with disgust and I freeze. “Your pregnancy, Anna. The scan you brought in the black market- I saw the transaction on your computer.”
My stomach lurches, he knows. Fuck, he knows, but I am not about to back down, there is no way to lie my way out of it, panic rises up to my throat. “You don’t know what you are talking about!” I snap, my voice rising into a yell. “You have no fucking idea!”
“You are a bitch!” His voice booms, echoing through the house, filled with venom. “You are nothing but a whore, seducing me. You betrayed your own best-friend just because you want me. You are evil!”
Something snaps inside me, “You are one to talk, you betrayed the person you were supposed to marry in two weeks!” I can’t stop the fury that’s exploding in my body, wild and uncontrollable anger surging through me. My hands wrap around the baseball bat leaning against the wall and I swing it at his head without thinking, the sound of it cracking against his skull echoes through the room.
He falls to the floor with a thud, touching the place where I just hit him, blood pools around his hand. I loom over him darkly and he stares faintly at me with a look of disbelief.
“Anna,” he says hoarsely, “Call 911, please don’t let me die.” Life is seeping out of him and that brings me satisfaction.
“Go to hell, Kevin.” I don’t call 911; instead I swing the bat on his skull again and again. Each swing comes harder and faster, I scream as I hit him again and again, his blood splattering across the floor, my clothes, my hands. I don’t recognize his face anymore
He stops moving, I stare down at his lifeless body, my chest heaving. The bat slips away from my hand, blood pools beneath him, soaking the floor.
I killed him.
I killed him, the realization of what I just did dawns on me, I stumble back, my breath comes out in ragged gasps. My hands are covered in blood, my heart pounding frantically as panic sets in. What did I just do?
My mind starts to race, desperate to find an answer to get away from this. I can’t go down like this. I can’t let my life fall apart like this. I think of Clara, she’s gullible, she’s trusting, she will help me and she did say she will do anything for me.
I reach for my phone inside my coat pocket and dial her number, she picks up almost immediately.
“Hello, Clara.” I say, my voice trembling. “I need you right now. I fucked up. I think I just did something so horrible....”
