Chapter 8
Chapter 8
Jessica was walking out of Robin's room looking very tried. Robin made sure to drain every strength in her before going to bed. But she won't deny the fact she had so much fun today. She smiled duo she was looking tired and pale.
She looked at the time and gasped.
11pm.
She looked around but found no one, of course it's late. Her tired look was replaced worry when it doned on her that Davis wasn't back from work. She wanted to ignore it but her fragile heart wouldn't let her go. She sat on a sofa waiting for him.
Few minutes later, Jessica was sleeping peacefully in the sofa though she wasn't comfortable with the way she was lying. She opened her eyes and it travelled to the wall clock instantly. 12:30. She reached out for her phone to call him but realized that she doesn't even have his number not save the number he used in calling some days ago.
Her worries grew more. What if something happened to him? What if he was kidnapped? What if he was killed on his way back? She shoke her head lightly. She sighed softly. The house became darker and more suffocating though the light was on. Her thoughts were chocking her. She placed her head backwards praying silently, but slept off in the process.

A black range rover pulled up in parking lot, and Davis stepped down with his suit in his hands. He stepped into the sitting room and met Jessica shivering from cold and rolling uncomfortably on the couch. He sighed. Did she stay up late because of him? He smiled at his thoughts. Even if their marriage is a contract she still cares about everyone.
He slowly dropped his suit jacket and picked her up in a bridal style. She relaxed in his arms placed her head on his chest.
Davis gasped at her weight. Even a loaf of bread was heavier than her. Davis climbed the stairs heading to their room. He gently lowered her onto the bed, taking care to make sure she was comfortable and safe. He brushed her hair away from her face, and leaned down to place a tender kiss on her forehead before walking into the shower to freshen up and came out few minutes later. The water droplets from his hair and abs could disintegrate a girl, he slowly walked to the closet and put on his pajamas and joined her in the bed. He slept off few minutes later.
★★★ NEXT MORNING★★★
The morning sun rose brightly and it's way into Jessica's room. Making the day a new dawn, the brightness of the sun pierced Jessica's face, bringing her into the new day.
She woke up from sleep and her eyes scanned around her environment, then she realized that she was the room. Jessica stumbled out of her room, rubbing the sleep from her eyes. As she made her way down the hall, she heard voices coming from the living room. She peeked around the corner and saw Davis and Robbie, dressed in their jogging clothes, laughing and talking. They looked like they were ready to take on the world, while Jessica felt like a complete mess, her hair disheveled and her clothes rumpled. She couldn't help but feel a twinge of happiness as she watched them.
"Davis, you were late last night, I was worried sick!" Jessica said with a stern voice. Davis looked a little sheepish, but Robbie just rolled his eyes.
"It's not a big deal, Mom, Dad was just out with the guys. He's allowed to have fun sometimes, you know." Robbie said, Jessica's face softened, and she couldn't help but smile.
"I know, sweetie but he have called me" she rolled her eyes" She rolled her eyes.
"Wait for me, I will join you guys soon" Jessica said, running upstairs to freshen up and prepare herself. Davis and Robbie exchanged a look, and then Robbie smiled.
"Sure thing, Mom. The more the merrier." He said.
A few minutes later, Jessica emerged from the house, looking like a completely different person. Her hair was neatly pulled back, and she was wearing a cute workout outfit. Davis and Robbie both did a double take.
"Wow, Mom," Robbie said. "You look great!" Jessica smiled, feeling a little pleased with herself.
"Thanks, sweetie," she said. As they began their jog, Robbie nudged his dad in the side.
"Dad, you haven't said anything about how amazing Mom looks," he said. Davis looked over at Jessica, a little surprised that he hadn't said anything.
"Oh, well, uh..." he stammered. "You look great, honey," he finally said. Jessica smiled at him, feeling a little bit of pride.
"Thanks, honey," she said. And with that, they all began to run.
The sun was just beginning to rise, and the air was cool and crisp. They ran along the quiet streets, enjoying the peacefulness of the morning. They could hear the birds chirping in the trees, and the only sound was the steady rhythm of their footsteps. After a while, they stopped to catch their breath.
"That was a great run," Davis said, panting a little. "I feel amazing!"
Jessica nodded. "I feel energized," she said.
"I think we should do this more often." Robbie grinned.
"I think that's a great idea," Jessica replied.
As they made their way back home, they began to feel the burn in their muscles. But they all agreed it was worth it. The sun was fully up now, and the neighborhood was starting to come to life. Kids were outside playing, and the smell of breakfast wafted through the air. When they finally reached their house, they all collapsed on the couch, laughing and panting.
"I'm starving," Davis said.
"Me too," Jessica said. "I'm ready for some coffee and breakfast."
"I could use a big glass of orange juice," Robbie added.
Jessica got up and went to the kitchen, where she found the housekeeper, Maria, already hard at work.
"Maria, could you whip us up some breakfast?" Jessica asked.
"Of course, Miss," Maria said, bustling around the kitchen. She began to cook eggs, bacon, and toast, and soon the smells filled the house. The others followed her into the kitchen, drawn by the delicious scents. They all sat down at the dining table, eagerly awaiting their meal. When Maria brought out the food, they all dug in, their hunger finally satisfied.
As they ate, they talked about their morning run, and how good it felt to get some exercise. They all agreed that they should make it a regular thing.
"I could use the extra endorphins," Davis said.
"And the sunshine is good for you too," Jessica added. They all laughed, feeling the happy effects of their run and their meal. After they finished eating, they all decided to take a shower and get ready for the day. As they headed upstairs, they all felt grateful for the new morning routine they had created.
Davis showered and got dressed in his usual work clothes: a crisp white shirt, a dark suit, and a tie. He made sure his briefcase was packed with everything he needed for the day. Meanwhile, Robbin showered and got dressed in his school uniform: a polo shirt and khakis. He gathered his backpack and made sure he had everything he needed for the day. As they got ready, they both thought about how the morning had gone so well, and they hoped the rest of the day would follow suit.
As Davis and Robbin left the house, Jessica was left alone with her thoughts. She knew that her marriage to Davis was a contract marriage, and that he had only married her to help Robbie feel the love of mother. She wondered if he would ever truly love her, or if he would always be thinking of his first wife. She knew she had to be strong, for Robbin's sake. But it was hard not to wonder if Robin can leave without her or she can leave without him. As she sat in the living room, she tried to push the thoughts away, but they kept creeping back in.
After a while, Jessica decided she needed to get out of the house. She needed to clear her head and get some fresh air. She grabbed her purse and headed out the door. As she walked down the street, she took in the sights and sounds of the neighborhood. The smell of fresh bread from the bakery, the sound of birds singing in the trees, the feel of the sun on her face. It all helped to clear her head and give her a little bit of peace.
As Jessica was walking down the street, her phone rang. It was the housekeeper, and she said,
"Mrs. Davis, there's a woman here to see you. She says she's Samantha, and she's a friend of your husband's." Jessica felt a wave of panic wash over her. She knew who Samantha was: Davis's ex-wife. She didn't know what Samantha wanted, but she was sure it wasn't anything good. She took a deep breath and said,
"Okay, I'll be home in a few minutes." She hurried home, her heart pounding in her chest.
As she walked up the front steps, she saw Samantha standing on the porch. She looked the same as she had the last time they'd seen each other. Samantha was beautiful, with long dark hair and green eyes. She wore a designer dress and high heels, and she looked every bit the part of a woman who had once been married to a wealthy man. Samantha smiled at her, and Jessica tried to smile back.
"Hello, Samantha," she said, her voice trembling slightly. "What are you doing here?"
Samantha opened the door and pulled in two suitcases. She set them down on the floor and looked at Jessica.
"I've come back to live with my husband," she said, her voice full of confidence.
"I know he still loves me, and I'm sure he'll be happy to see me. I'm sure he'll want me to move back in with him." Samantha looked around the house, taking it all in. She had a smug look on her face, as if she thought she was back in charge.
Jessica stood frozen in place, unable to believe what she was hearing. She'd never thought she would see Samantha again, and she certainly hadn't expected her to show up on her doorstep, announcing that she was moving back in with her husband. It was too much to take in. All she could do was stand there, staring at Samantha in disbelief. Samantha looked back at her, her expression unreadable.
