Drug

Drug
Arthur's point of view

Fuck!!

What the heck is wrong with this little woman? She was so wasted that she could barely stand, and she has lost her senses completely. Without a word, I walked over to her, lifted her onto my shoulder, wrapping my arms around her to keep her close and secure before I started making my way out of the club.

Evelyn went quiet like she had passed out. As I reached outside, I found a group of my men waiting for me.

“Arthur, there's something you should know,” Alex rubbed his temple, his tone hesitant. I threw a glare at him, urging him to speak right now.

“I found drugs in her bag, and it seems like she'd just used them today,” Coldness hit my core, my lungs constricted as I processed Alex’s words. Each and every single day, Evelyn becomes a puzzle I'm unable to solve, a mystery I'm unable to unveil.

Why the heck was she taking drugs? She didn't look like a drug addict unless she started today itself. Did I push her too much?

What?

Why am I even thinking about it? I don't give a damn about her. She's with me for only two reasons.

Firstly, she's the only woman I can touch without my stomach churning or feeling disgusted by her closeness.

Secondly, she satisfies my sexual desires like a good little whore.

And lastly, she was a stepping stone to my mission. That's all she was to me. I can get rid of her anytime I want and still not give a damn about it.

“Arthur, I think you should let this girl go. She's already broken, and you will make her lose herself more into the darkness,” I threw a sharp glare at him. Without uttering a word, I placed Evelyn in the back seat of the car before I stepped inside, resting her hand on my legs. Her eyes were shut closed, but tears were streaming down her face.

A few minutes later, the driver drove through the villa. As the car stopped, I stepped out, scooping Evelyn into my arms, and made my way inside.

I laid her down on the bed before tucking her inside the blanket. Her eyes were shut closed. As I turned to leave the bed, I halted in my steps as my eyes landed on the tattoo on her neck. I sat at the edge of the bed, lifting my finger over her tattoo, stroking it gently. It was a small rose above a flame.

I couldn't help but wonder why she'd put this tattoo on her neck. My mind drifted back to her words the other day. Did she mean everything she said that day? I didn't have time to understand what she said.

Was she a victim of... I balled my hand into a fist at the possibility of it being true. Is that the reason why she has been taking drugs, to bury the memories of it?

Why do I even care?

I shouldn't get too involved with her. She was just temporary in my life. I shouldn't wonder too much about her or her past.

I rose off the bed, making my way to the window. The moonlight was illuminating the city, the lights on with cars passing through the highway. I brought out my phone from my pocket before dialing Alex’s number, which was quickly picked.

“I hope everything is ready for tomorrow,” I stared outside the city, my phone pressed against my ear. Tomorrow was a big day for me. It's the day when I finally avenge the suffering my mom went through. They're all going to feel the same way she felt because of them. I'm not sparing anyone.

“Everything is under control,” Alex said over the phone.

“Good.” I hung up the call, throwing a glance at Evelyn. I headed out of the room, heading to the study. I have a few things to take care of before the morning arrives.

The Next Day.

I frowned when I heard Evelyn's voice downstairs, shouting my name. I had already gotten ready for the day in my room. I rose off the couch before I started making my way out. As I reached downstairs, I found her pacing in the dining room. She lifted her head upon sensing my arrival.

“Where is my handbag?” Evelyn's cold gaze locked with mine. Her hands trembled, her hair was messy, her eyes red.

“So much noise for a handbag?” My brows furrowed as I stepped down the stairs, walking over to her. I was well aware of why she wanted that bag, and I definitely am not going to give it to her. For now, she was my wife, and there's no way I'm going to let her take drugs in my house.

“Where the heck is my bag?” Evelyn muttered under her gritted teeth. She ran her trembling hands through her hair before turning to me. “Just give it to me. I need it urgently.”

“Why do you need it?” I threw a sharp glare at her. She rushed to me, ready to grab my collar, but I grasped her hands, pulling them up to her head. “Relax, little thief. Just tell me why you need your bag, and I'd gladly give it to you.” Evelyn's breath came in short gasps, her eyes locking with mine. I could see rage flushing in her eyes.

“Arthur, I do not have time for this, okay?” She took a deep breath, trying to control her rage. “Just tell me where the heck my bag is, and I'd be out of your way. Please, I'm begging you. Don't be a pain in my ass, okay?” I let out a chuckle, my eyes on her.

“You are not going to get your bag.” My voice was cold. “Go and get ready. We are leaving in ten minutes.” I let go of her hands before I walked past her, heading to the dining room.

“I'm not going anywhere with you until you give me my bag,” she challenged, her words echoing inside the silent house.
