New Don
Arthur's Point of View
Damn!
My pulse quickened as my eyes landed on Evelyn as she descended the stairs. She wore a tight black dress that hugged her curves, paired with matching heels and earrings. Her red hair was styled back, and she walked with confidence, her expression fierce, accentuated by the black lipstick on her lips.
It was time for me to accomplish the second part of my plan, which was taking over the chair of the Don in this city. With the information she gathered for me, I was well aware that my mission was going to be accomplished today.
"Happy now?" Evelyn's jaws clenched, her eyes sharp as she glared at me. My gaze wandered to her from head to toe. It took everything in me to keep a straight face and not smirk in satisfaction.
She didn't want to get ready or come with me but of course I had to use blackmail to force her out.
"Watch your tone when you talk to me, little thief, or there will be consequences," I warned, my gaze on her. Evelyn rolled her eyes without a word and walked past me, her shoulders hitting my chest slightly as she made her way out.
I chuckled as I followed behind her. I just wonder where she gets the audacity to even show me attitude. I guess I'd have to show her how to mess with me.
She was already seated in the backseat when I arrived at the car. The guard swung the door open, and I stepped in. Before he shut the door, the driver started the car and drove off, with five more cars following behind us.
The ride to the red house was quiet. Evelyn was staring outside the windows, letting the cold air slam against her face, but she seemed to be enjoying it. In less than an hour, the driver halted the car in the parking lot.
"Little thief, you are not allowed to utter a word unless I ask you to, or else..." I warned. She was crazy, and only God knows what she might do and put her life in danger. I could have left her at home, but I felt like my grandpa might have set a trap that if I leave home, she'd be left alone and send people to kill.
"You sound like a broken record right now," Evelyn retorted. She pushed the door open and stepped out of the car. I shook my head as I swung the door to my side and stepped out of the car. A group of men stepped out of the car, following behind me. Evelyn walked beside me as we entered the red house.
A long table was in the middle of the ballroom, with more than hundreds of chairs lined up. My grandpa was seated at the first seat, while everyone else was seated by their position.
He was the leader of the Mafia lords, and everyone followed all of his words, but that was ending today itself.
All eyes turned to me as I grasped the chair, pulling it back. Evelyn sat down before I settled next to her.
My grandpa threw me a deadly glare before he cleared his throat. "The reason why I called for this meeting is because Arthur has gone against us. He chose to marry a woman who ruined our event, and he rejected Ava. So now he has to make a choice: keep his chair in the red house by killing this girl and marrying Ava, or he'll lose his chair in the red house."
Everyone in the room gasped, their eyes widening clearly in shock, their murmurs filling the room. A smirk stretched on Ava's lips, her eyes sparkling with sarcasm.
"Yes, if he can't marry my daughter, he must step down from his position and lose his chair," Zayn added, his eyes on me. I let out an amused chuckle.
"Zayn Miller, did your so-called friend tell you how your son died?" My grandfather's face went pale, his eyes going wide in shock. Zayn threw me a confused look.
"What are you talking about, Arthur? Stop beating around the bush and get to the point," Zayn's jaws clenched.
I shrugged. "Your friend, Peter Madison, is the one who murdered your son so he doesn't get to become the Don of this city. He wanted someone from our family to lead."
"What are you talking about, Arthur?" Brian asked, shock etching on his face. I scoffed.
"And did your so-called friend Zayn Miller tell you that he has been fucking your wife behind your back?" I threw a sharp gaze at Brian, his face turned red, his veins pulsing on his neck.
"And well, did Brian Williams tell you that he is the one who's been stealing money from the treasury?" I finally dropped the final bomb. The room went silent, no one uttered a word. Fighting was not allowed in here, so everyone was going to boil with their rage until we were out of here.
I clapped my fingers, and two men rushed inside, handing me a file, which I took and placed on the table. "This file contains all the evidence you need." Mister Black grabbed the file and went through it, passing it to other people as they looked at the file. "These men you call your leaders aren't honest, and they do not deserve to rule this city. If they can betray each other because of the chair, what more can they do to you guys? You need to make a decision on who should become a Don of this city, someone who is trustworthy."
"I think Arthur should take over as the Don of this city. It's clear that he is an honest man; he stands by the truth even when he has to expose his own family," Mister Black said. Everyone in the room nodded in agreement, while some didn't, but I knew I had already won.
"Everyone who wants Arthur to become the new Don must raise their hands," Mister Kim said. Almost everyone raised their hands in my vote. My grandpa and his friends sat there quietly; they didn't even raise their hands.
"It has been decided then. Arthur is the new Don of this city, and his wife is also welcome here," Mister Black announced, causing a smirk to stretch across my lips. This was just the beginning; they are going to regret ever being born. It's payback time now.
