Chapter 230 Chapter 230
Caroline laughed, the sound low and confident. “Tania, did I ever tell you that Sara isn't just an avid gamer, but also a programming and IT genius?”
Tania's jaw dropped. “No way! Are you telling me your cute little sister is a hacker?!”
“She's not exactly a spy movie hacker.”
Caroline took her phone back, staring coldly at the forum notification. “But hacking through the amateur security of a college forum to track down the IP address of some anonymous coward? That's child's play for her.” Caroline's eyes flashed with a promise of relentless retaliation.
She was genuinely curious to discover the face behind the keyboard. When she found it, there would be no mercy.
“Perfect!” Tania clapped her hands, her eyes shining with bloodlust and excitement. “Send Sara a message right now and ask for the IP! I can't wait to find out who the jealous bitch is and destroy her.”
The two remained in the library for a few more minutes, quickly plotting a course of action with Sara via text, and then walked toward the main building for their next class.
On the way, fate decided to test their patience. They ran into Olivia and Ianca in the hallway.
As soon as their eyes met, Olivia stopped in her tracks, blocking their path. She flashed a scornful smile and looked Caroline up and down with disgust.
“Well, well... Our ‘Beauty Queen’ had the courage to show her face?”
Olivia turned dramatically to her friend beside her. "You know, Ianca, the Beauty Queen is right about one thing. We should have used our pretty faces as a trump card to win rich heirs. Too bad we're not as “uninhibited” as she is, right? Otherwise, our high school years would have been much more... lucrative.
Ianca entered the theater, laughing maliciously. "It's true! When we were in high school, we were so focused on our studies that we were practically nerds. The idea of spreading our legs to get pregnant with second-generation heirs never crossed our minds. Our school records would never be as “rewarding” as hers.
“Hehe,” Olivia laughed, her voice high-pitched and irritating. “But even if you wanted to jump from a rich heir to an even more powerful billionaire, you couldn't, Ianca.” Using your beauty and body as a commodity isn't for everyone. After all, would you have the stomach to have an abortion as a minor just to hide the mess?
Ianca feigned shock, placing her hand on her chest. “Abortion in high school? No way! My parents would kill me out of shame.”
"Mine too! But some people have no shame. Maybe they were raised in the gutter, so they're used to that kind of trash.
Tania felt her blood boil. Her vision turned red. “Olivia, Ianca... you two better shut the hell up right now, or I'll...”
Tania clenched her fists and took a threatening step forward, ready to settle the defamation with physical aggression.
“Tania.”
Caroline held her firmly by the arm, pulling her back.
Caroline's expression was ice cold. She looked at the two girls with utter indifference, as if she were looking at insects, and said in a soft but glass-like voice:
"I'm glad you two are fully aware that you are not attractive.
But I would give you some advice: try to be less mean and poisonous to compensate for your outer ugliness. Envy corrodes the soul and reflects on the face. A bitter and envious woman will become increasingly ugly, to the point that no plastic surgery in the world can fix it."
The hallway seemed to freeze.
“Caroline! What do you mean by that?!” Olivia's face turned red with indignation.
No vain woman could bear to be called ugly and envious to her face.
Her ego wounded, Olivia lost her mocking pose and took an aggressive step forward, raising her hand, ready to start a physical fight.
Tania immediately placed herself in front of Caroline, acting as a human shield. At 5'7“ tall, with an athletic build and blood in her eyes, Tania was intimidating. ”If you dare lay a finger on her, Olivia, I'll beat you so badly right here that you won't have a tooth left in your mouth. And I don't care if the college expels me for it. Come and try your luck!"
Caroline didn't back down either. She had quick reflexes and knew how to defend herself perfectly well.
Olivia froze. She assessed Tania's posture and Caroline's coldness. She suppressed her anger, swallowing hard, knowing she would come off worse in a physical fight against the two of them.
She took a step back, but didn't stop spitting her venom, partially hidden behind Ianca. “Yes, we may not be as ‘attractive’ as you. But at least we know what self-respect and dignity are! We would never do something so dirty and shameful!”
Olivia sneered, her voice trembling with anger. “What about us being jealous of you? Jealous of what, Miss Beauty Queen? Your fake looks? Your scandalous past as a slot machine addict? Or that you murdered a baby before the legal age?
She pointed her finger at Caroline's impassive face. ”Why are you staring at us with such arrogance? We didn't make this up! The whole school has read the forum. If you didn't want others to comment, you shouldn't have acted like a bitch in the past!
As Olivia shouted, Ianca began to feel a chill down her spine.
There was something that deeply troubled Ianca. She pulled on Olivia's sleeve, trying to get her to stop.
Regardless of whether Caroline's past was true or false, there was one terrifying detail in the present: someone extremely dangerous was supporting her now.
Ianca couldn't forget the aura of that mysterious man in the Rolls-Royce (Nicholas). No one on campus knew his real identity, but rumors were already flying that he was frighteningly powerful.
After all, it was thanks to him that Claire and Kate were still rotting in the police station. Rumor had it that Edward's wealthy family had tried to use all their influence and lawyers to get Claire out of custody, but they had been ruthlessly crushed and blocked.
If that man found out that they were cursing his girlfriend in the hallway... what would he do to them?
