Chapter 171 How could Victor be so low?
“Based on my clinical analysis...” Tania narrowed her eyes, assessing her target. “That boy definitely comes from a filthy rich family. Look at his watch. It costs more than my apartment.”
Tania whistled softly.
“Sara's quick, huh? She barely got out of the hospital and already caught a big fish like that? A rich, handsome, young boyfriend... not bad. But...” Tania frowned. “The atmosphere is strange. The boy doesn't look happy. Did they fight?”
“Carol, should we go over there and say ‘hi’?”
Caroline remained silent, ignoring the suggestion for a moment.
Her eyes were fixed on the boy's face.
As Tania had said, he exuded money. The arrogance in his posture screamed “spoiled heir.”
But that wasn't what caught Caroline's attention.
She frowned, tilting her head slightly.
Why did that face look so familiar?
She had the uncomfortable feeling that she had seen him before, but she couldn't remember where. His features... there was something about them that set off an alarm in her memory.
Right in front of them, a few feet away, Sara was leafing through the menu, completely unaware that her older sister was watching her like a hawk.
Sara pursed her lips, impatience evident in her eyes as she stared at the boy sitting across the table.
“Victor, didn't you say the other classmates would be coming?” She glanced at the empty chairs. “Where are they?”
The boy smiled, a sweet smile, but one laden with mischief.
“Sara, are you playing dumb?” He leaned back in his chair, relaxed. “There are no other classmates. There never were. It's just you and me.”
“What?” Sara gasped, shock giving way to anger. “But you said...”
“I lied,” Victor interrupted her, without the slightest sign of remorse. “If I hadn't lied, would you have come?”
He rested his chin on his hand, watching her.
“Oh, stop looking at me like that. I did all this just to get a real date with you. I tried to ask you out so many times, but you always rejected me or made excuses. I had no choice but to use a little... creativity.”
Sara felt the blood rush to her face. “You... you're unbelievable!”
“So what?”
The boy lifted his chin, the arrogance of a young master overflowing.
“Since you're already here, sit down and eat with me. Don't make a scene. People are watching us.”
Sara was boiling inside.
How could Victor be so low?
He had sworn it was his birthday. He said it would be a group celebration with several of her close friends. Sara only agreed to come because she thought she would be safe in the crowd.
She had been avoiding Victor like the plague for the past few months, doing everything possible not to be alone with him.
Now, realizing she had fallen into a trap, why would she stay?
Sara grabbed her purse.
“Victor, you can eat alone. I have no interest in participating in this charade. I have better things to do. I...”
She made a move to get up, but Victor's cold laugh stopped her.
“Sara, if you don't eat with me...” He twirled the coffee cup in his hand. “Tomorrow morning, I'm going to tell everyone at school that you were spying on me in the locker room.”
Sara froze.
Victor smiled cruelly. “By then, the whole school will think that little Saint Sara is actually a perverted voyeur.” What do you think about that?“
Sara immediately understood what he was referring to. Her face turned red, a mixture of anger and extreme humiliation.
”That was a misunderstanding!“ she hissed. ”I walked into the wrong room! I wasn't spying!“
”I don't care if it was intentional or not." Victor took a sip of coffee, savoring the moment. “The fact is, you saw my body. You took advantage of the situation.”
He lowered his cup, his gaze becoming dangerous.
“And don't you dare deny it. I have a recording of our conversation that day.”
Sara's eyes widened, panic taking hold of her.
“You... you recorded it?”
“That's right.” Victor smiled, a sweet smile that didn't reach his eyes, laden with malice. “If I hadn't recorded it, what would I do when you denied everything to the board?”
He leaned back, crossing his arms arrogantly.
"Sara, don't be dramatic. I'm not asking for a kidney. Just have a meal with me and I'll delete everything and let you go. Don't play hard to get. Don't you think it should be a pleasure to spend time with a handsome guy like me, in a restaurant of this caliber?
Sara looked at him, incredulous. She took a deep breath, trying to calm the trembling in her hands, and clenched her fists under the table.
She had never met anyone as thick-skinned and insensitive as Victor. She had already rejected him in every way possible—tactfully, kindly, firmly—but he refused to take no for an answer.
This boy had no shame. He would use any dirty trick to get what he wanted.
Of course, she wasn't a pervert. She would never spy on a man on purpose. But that night...
Sara's face burned bright red as she remembered the incident.
It was an accident. She had walked into the wrong room. But the fact remained: she had seen him. She had seen his bare back, his pale skin, his defined muscles...
The image invaded her mind against her will, leaving her dizzy with embarrassment.
“Come on, stop hesitating.” Victor, realizing he had her cornered, stood up.
He leaned over the table and, in a quick, possessive movement, planted a loud kiss on her cheek.
Sara froze. Her whole body stiffened, her eyes wide with shock.
Seeing that she was paralyzed, Victor seized the opportunity. He placed his hands on her shoulders and gently but firmly forced her to sit down in the chair.
“Good girl.”
The whole scene... was witnessed in its entirety by Caroline and Tania, a few feet away.
“Oh my god!”
Tania almost choked on her water.
“He kissed her?!” Tania whispered, euphoric. “Okay, confirmed. That means they're definitely a couple. Sara is quiet, but she's dangerous, huh? She managed to snag a rich heir so discreetly! She must really like him to let him kiss her in public like that.”
Caroline remained silent, but her mind was racing.
At first, she had doubts. But when she saw that Sara didn't push him away, didn't scream, and didn't pull away when the boy kissed her... her suspicion seemed to be confirmed.
But something didn't add up.
