Chapter 52 Surviving Christmas spirit
Chapter 52: Surviving Christmas Spirit
Fab came over to pick Golden up for their Christmas shopping.
He noticed she was a bit quiet and decided to give her a load down of the personalities of his nieces and nephews.
His nephews were twins and they were 14 years old. They had a younger sister who was 12.
They were his elder brothers children.
His elder sister also had three children. All girls.
The Oldest was 15 and the youngest was 11.
The 15 year old was a bit of a sass queen. The 13 year old was nerdy like him.
The twelve year old, he wasn't too sure but she just started trying out makeup and talking to boys.
And the 11 year old. Let's just say she just got out of being a baby.”
Fab noticed Golden slowly begin to relax and sighed in relief.
“Well now that I know what each girl is like, it's easy to plan their gifts.” Golden said with a soft smile
“We get our sass queen a new outfit. Something chic, and then pair it with a handbag and accessories to go with it.
Nothing too over the top and too expensive but something she would like.
Then for your little nerd whom I'm guessing is your favorite. A pair of diamond earrings and maybe the latest MacBook would do.”
“The MacBook I understand. But why the diamond earrings?” Fab asked.
“Although she's a nerd. But diamonds are a girls best friend. She's still a girl and should be made to feel like one” Golden explained.
“For the 12 year old. We go for makeup set. A complete set and throw in some nail polish too.
Since she wants too explore, then we give her the right tools to explore.
“And lastly for your 11 year old. There's this trendy handbag collection that was just launched for preetens, I think she would love it.
Maybe get her two different colors.”
“I could hug you right now. I knew picking you was the right choice.
You just made a complex matter very simple. And I have a feeling I would be the reigning uncle at Christmas dinner.”
They got to the mall and immediately went around buying all that they had agreed.
Soon they were done and they went to an ice cream shop to get some ice cream.
Fab asked that Golden wait outside the shop because it was a bit crowded.
She found a bench and sat down while he went to queue for the ice cream.
He suddenly noticed Golden's expression change. It seemed like she was having a panic attack and was trying desperately to be calm.
He had noticed something off since he picked her up but she seemed better by the time they got to the mall.
He didn't know what was happening but he needed backup. So he pulled out his phone and quickly texted Alex.
Fab: “Where are you? I need backup”
Alex: “At a flower shop, what's the emergency?”
Fab: “GOLDEN!” come now!
Alex: “Would be there in 7 minutes tops.”
Meanwhile, Alex who had begged her dad to accompany her to the flower shop, suddenly asked her dad to drop her off at the mall.
She bribed him with helping to file his tax returns if he dropped her off at the mall and help finish planting Nana's flowers.
Her dad hated doing his tax returns so he agreed and quickly drove her to the mall which wasn't far from where they were.
Alex met Fab at the ice cream shop and asked what was happening.
He quickly narrated her mood since they left the estate and her current mood.
Alex collected the ice cream and headed towards Golden.
“Hey Gigi are you okay?” she asked as she sat beside Golden.
Golden as if finally finding something to hold on to turned and immediately hugged Alex.
Fab quickly collected the ice cream from Alex before it made a mess.
After a while, Golden's gaze steadied and she slowly released Alex.
“How about we go to the beach. The ocean is a nice place to let go of your worries ” Fab suggested.
“Okay.” Golden said quietly and stood up.
She wanted to get away from all the decorations and reminders of Christmas around her.
At least at the beach she wouldn't see any decorations.
They got to the beach and Golden went to stand by the shores.
The waves moved slowly and the breeze whispered softly.
Fab wanted to go with her. He was worried about her.
“Let her be” Alex said and held him back. “She needs this. Let's just sit here and wait for her.
Golden stood and as the waves approached, she opened her arms and screamed. Letting go of the pain her chest.
She did it twice and when she felt lighter, she went to meet her friends.
Meanwhile, not far away. Allan was with Octavia. They had also come to the beach.
Octavia sighted Golden and wanted to go say hi, but Allan held her back.
Golden was with Alex and Fab and he wasn't ready to face her yet for fear of rejection, so he held Octavia back.
Golden sat and suddenly hugged Alex. She let her tears flow silently.
Alex held her and let her cry. No words were needed between them. She quietly accompanied her.
Then Golden turned and hugged Fab too.
“Thank you” was all she said as she hugged him for a while.
He had slowly become a companion and always tried to make her feel better even when he didn't have to.
Octavia saw Golden hug another guy. She turned and looked at her brother's forlorn expression.
“Is that Golden's boyfriend?” She asked straight up.
“Yeah I guess so” was all he said. There was a lot going on his inside but he couldn't give words to them...
On the ride back home, Golden fell asleep. She was tired like she had just fought a tough battle.
“Am I dropping you off at home first?” Fab asked Alex as he looked at her from the rare view mirror.
“No. Take me to the Estate. I want to be there when she wakes up” Alex said gently stroking Golden's hair.
Alex noticed Fab kept looking at them through the mirror.
“Don't fall in love with her. At least not yet.
You wouldn't win against the one in her heart...”
