Chapter 150 Connection
Chapter 150: Connection
When Golden read Xander's message, she contemplated on whether or not to go out.
On one hand, she was really tired. She had classes back-to-back and still had to come to London.
Varney was very thoughtful to have made a reservation for dinner so she didn't have to think of what to eat once she got home.
On the other hand, it was an opportunity to give Xander the concert tickets and the backstage passes instead of waiting till the next day to give them to him.
She finally decided to go see Xander and hand over the tickets to him.”
Golden: “Sure, why not. Although I've had dinner already, I can accompany you to eat. Send me your live location and I would see you there.”
Xander sent Golden his location. He was lodged at the Royal Palms Resorts which was about 20 minutes drive from the Nixon Manor.
Golden told her friends not to wait up for her as she might be out for a while. Although tired, Golden decided that after seeing Xander she would go for a night drive.
It had been a while since she went on a night drive. In fact, she hadn't gone on a night drive since she came to England.
Golden arrived at the hotel and texted Xander that she was at the lobby. She was wearing a maxi high-waist skirt and a sleeveless crop top.
She let her hair down and only had powder and lipgloss on her face. She sat with her legs crossed and was engrossed with her phone that she didn't hear Xander approaching.
Xander saw Golden the minute he stepped into the lobby. She seemed engrossed in her phone. Her head was slightly bent and her hair fell to one side, framing her face delicately.
He paused in his steps as he took in her beauty and charm. He could finally see her after so long.
She looked stunning, more stunning than the first time he had seen her. He slowly approached her and stood a foot away.
Golden caught a glimpse of someone's shoes and immediately looked up to see Xander staring at her with a smile.
He looked a little tanner than the last time she saw him. He was also sporting a new haircut and had grown facial hair.
He now had sideburns that connected at his jaw. He used to wear his hair a little long before, but he now wore it short in a two-step slight punk style.
He was wearing a brown trouser, and navy blue shirt which was rolled up at the sleeve. A Patek Phillippe wristwatch and wristband and a brown suede loafers.
“Hi Xander, long time no see.” Golden said as she hugged him. She was hit with the nice scent of his perfume. It was mixed with a light ice minty scent of his shampoo.
His scent was totally different from Allan's sandalwood and tobacco scent. His was cooler and calming.
“I missed you”, Xander said as he hugged her back. He immediately corrected himself when he saw her raised eyebrow.
“What I meant to say is that I missed seeing your beautiful face. You know the last time I saw you was at the Chen's Christmas Dinner two years ago.”
“Wow! It's been really long then. The triplets weren't even born yet when we last saw each other and now they are one year old already.” Golden said.
“So what's the plan, where are we having dinner? And by we, I mean you. I'm just here to keep you company and catch up on old times.”
“I saw this really cool restaurant about five blocks away. We can go there,” Xander said.
“Okay that's fine. I can drive us there, you just direct me. I'm sure you must be exhausted from your long trip.” Golden said as they started going towards the exit.
They walked to where Golden parked her car and Xander was impressed to see the ride she came in. It's was a 2021 metallic silver Porsche 911 Tubor S sport car with Red leather seats.
He had always admired her taste in cars. He loved cars, but Golden had proven to be an even better car lover.
“Nice ride Gigi! You know it still amazes me how a calm, sweet lady like you love cars so much.
And your collection is every young, rich dudes dream.” Xander said admiring the interior of the car.
“Well what can I say? I guess I have a bit of the tomboy streak in me.” Gigi said as the engine roared to life.
The drive to the restaurant was relaxing. Golden and Xander talked about cars. Golden talked about every car she owned and the story behind every purchase.
They got to the restaurant and Golden decided to have a cup of coffee while Xander ate a proper meal.
They talked about Xander's time in Africa and this time, Golden listened to him talk passionately about his time there.
He spoke about his research and some of the difficult cases he had handled. He noticed Golden's eyes light up when he spoke medicine.
There were two things he had come to realize made Golden light up, cars and medicine.
By the time dinner was done, Golden handed him the two concert tickets and the backstage passes she had gotten from Elsa.
Xander was grateful for her thoughtfulness. He didn't want the night to end just yet so he thought of a way to see her again.
“Hey Gigi, can I ask you for one more favor?” He said hesitantly.
“Sure, what do you need?”
“Can you go shopping with me tomorrow? Sally will be thrilled about the concert but I still want to get her something.”
“Of course I don't mind going shopping with you to pick out gifts for Sally. You just let me know when, and I will tell you where to go.”
They had driven back to Xander's hotel. Golden still wanted to go on her night drive, but for some reason she didn't want to go alone.
She had surprisingly a good time with Xander and didn't know if she would be overstepping if she asked him to go on a drive with her.
Xander noticed Golden had gone quiet as they approached the hotel and she had a somewhat conflicting look.
As she put the car in park, Xander turned to her and said, “Hey Gigi is there something on your mind? You seem lost, like there's something bothering you.”
“Gigi turned to him. “I'm fine Xander, it's not a big deal.” She hesitated for a minute then decided to let it out. “Would you like to go on a night drive with me?”
