Chapter 20
Chapter 20
As the person disappeared into the crowd, Amelia’s eyes scanned the surrounding area, but they were nowhere to be seen. She felt a chill run down her spine as she wondered if the anonymous caller had been watching her all along.
Her mind racing, Amelia tried to process what had just happened. The voice, the hoodie, the quick departure... it all seemed so suspicious.
She took a deep breath and tried to shake off the feeling of unease. “It’s probably just a coincidence,” she told herself.
Amelia stood there, frozen, as realization dawned on her. That voice... it was the same voice as the anonymous caller and she was sure of it
Her mind racing, Amelia quickly scanned the surrounding area, but the person was nowhere to be seen. She felt a chill run down her spine as she wondered if the anonymous caller had been watching her all along.
Just as she was about to leave, Amelia’s phone rang in her pocket. She hesitated for a moment before answering it.
“Yes?” she said, her voice cautious.
“Amelia,” the anonymous caller said, his voice low and menacing. “I see you’re looking for me.”
Amelia’s eyes scanned the surrounding area again, but she couldn’t see anyone suspicious. “Who is this?” she demanded, trying to keep her voice steady.
The caller chuckled. “You know who I am, Amelia. I’m the one who’s been watching you. And I have to say, you’re quite predictable.”
Amelia felt a surge of fear. “What do you want?” she asked, trying to keep her voice firm.
“I just wanted to let you know that I know everything about you,” the caller said, his voice dripping with malice. “I know about your past, your present, and your secrets. And I have to say, you’re quite interesting.”
Amelia’s mind was racing. How did he know all this? And what did he want from her?
“Why are you telling me this?” she asked, trying to keep her voice steady.
“I’m telling you this because I want you to know that I’ve been watching you,” the caller said. “And I’ve been waiting for the right moment to reveal myself. But I have to say, I’m not here to harm you... at least, not yet.”
Amelia felt a chill run down her spine. What did he mean by “not yet”?
“What do you want from me?” she asked again, trying to keep her voice firm.
“I want to help you, Amelia,” the caller said, his voice surprisingly sincere. “I know you’re in a tough spot, and I want to help you get out of it.”
Amelia was taken aback. Why would this stranger want to help her?
“I don’t need your help,” she said, trying to sound confident.
The caller chuckled. “Oh, I think you do, Amelia. You see, I’ve been watching you, and I know all about your little secret. And I’m willing to keep it quiet... for now.”
Amelia’s heart sank. What secret was he talking about? And what did he want in return for keeping it quiet?
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” she said, trying to sound convincing.
The caller laughed. “Don’t play dumb, Amelia. I know all about your past with Frederick. And I know all about your little project with Dominic.”
Amelia’s eyes widened in shock. How did he know all this?
“What do you want from me?” she asked again, her voice barely above a whisper.
“I want to help you, Amelia,” the caller said again. “And I want you to know that I’m always watching. So, be careful.”
With that, the caller hung up, leaving Amelia feeling shaken and confused. Who was this stranger, and what did he want from her? And how did he know all her secrets?
Amelia’s mind was racing as she tried to process the anonymous caller’s words. “What do you want from me?” she asked again, her voice firm.
“I want to help you, Amelia,” the caller said, his voice low and menacing. “I want to help you get revenge.”
Amelia’s eyes narrowed. “Revenge against who? You keep saying you want to help me, did he send you?”
“Who?”
“Frederick or who do you want to help me get revenge against.”
The caller chuckled. “Against Frederick, of course. And Dominic. They’ve both wronged you in the past, and now it’s time for them to pay.”
Amelia felt a surge of anger at the mention of Frederick’s name. She had thought she was over him, but the wounds still lingered.
“What’s the plan?” she asked, her voice cautious.
The caller laughed. “It’s good that you’ve already positioned yourself in a place of power within Dominic’s company. You’re close to him, and now all you need to do is seduce him.”
Amelia’s eyes widened in horror. “What? No, that’s not a good idea.” Why is the world would he even suggest that or think that would work?
The caller chuckled. “Oh, come on, Amelia. You’re a beautiful woman, and Dominic is a man. It’s the perfect plan.”
Amelia felt a wave of revulsion wash over her. She couldn’t believe the caller was suggesting she use her body to manipulate Dominic.
“I won’t do it,” she said, her voice firm. “Even if I wanted to, I can’t.”
The caller sighed. “Suit yourself, Amelia. But you’re missing out on the perfect opportunity for revenge.”
Amelia’s mind was racing as she tried to process the caller’s words. She couldn’t believe he was suggesting she seduce Dominic. And what did he mean by “revenge”? Was he planning something more sinister?
As she stood there, trying to make sense of it all, Amelia realized that she needed to be careful. The anonymous caller seemed to know more about her than she was comfortable with, and his motives were far from pure.
With a sense of unease, Amelia hung up the phone and made her way back to her car. She couldn’t shake the feeling that she was being watched, and the anonymous caller’s words lingered in her mind like a bad omen.
She thought of his suggestion again, “No, it is a bad idea. A very bad one.”
