174 Cook a pot of poop
**Elizabeth's POV**
*
Hunger woke me from my dream.
I went to the door and looked out through the crack. I wanted to see if it was daylight, but to my horror, I saw an eye.
Someone was spying on me!
I took several frightened steps backward and almost fell to the ground.
After a few seconds, I calmed down because I could smell the odor of a werewolf on the one outside the door.
I hurried up to open the door, but the werewolf who had been spying on me had already left. All I could see was the back of a man.
I immediately went after him, but the man walked very fast and soon disappeared from my sight.
I was curious to know who the werewolf was. But then I remembered the vampire's warning that I was not allowed to leave my room without permission.
I walked towards my room as I thought. Suddenly, I smelled the aroma of food.
It turned out that I had passed by the kitchen.
There was no one in the kitchen. Only a large pot was steaming. It looked like the chef had temporarily left in the middle of cooking.
The food in the kitchen looked like it was prepared for human blood slaves.
My stomach was rumbling.
The vampire king was pissed off at me. He probably wouldn't bring me food for a long time.
I couldn't let my baby suffer from hunger with me, so I decided to take the risk of quietly stealing two tomatoes.
After sneaking into the kitchen, I managed to get what I wanted. In addition to that, I also took some eggs.
Just as I was about to leave, my curiosity suddenly rose. What kind of food do these vampires give to their human blood slaves?
So I lifted the lid of the pot to take a look. Then I frowned.
What is this big pile of yellowish-brown poop-like stuff?
Damn, look what the chef did. This isn't cooking, it's wasting food.
I saw a pile of uncut potatoes, carrots, and tomatoes in the pot. They were all thrown in whole to cook. I doubt they were not even washed.
The chef must have also put a dozen eggs in, and I saw a pile of scattered shells on the ground.
Despite the fact that the ingredients used are the best, this big pot of food must taste very bad. It is not a breakfast prepared for humans, but more like fodder prepared for the livestock raised.
I really can't accept and agree with the opinion of those human blood slaves. They could have become independent and free human beings. Why would they prefer to be treated like livestock by vampires?
I remember there were children in the blood slaves' ranks. They couldn't make a choice, and they were here because of their parents' misconceptions.
Poor children.
I don't know when that chef will be back. I don't have time to recook a pot of food for them. All I could do was try to do something to save the pot of poop.
I added a lot of water to the pot to keep it from overcooking.
Then I quietly put a dozen eggs in it. I didn't break the shells on these eggs because the shells would block the inside from being affected by the horrible taste of the other food.
Even if the whole pot of food were too disgusting to eat, the dozen eggs would still allow them to replenish their nutrients.
Just as I covered the lid of the pot and was about to leave, I suddenly heard a loud shout from the doorway, "What are you doing?!"
I turned my head and saw a vampire standing in the doorway. She is so big and fat that her body blocks the whole door.
I knew I couldn't escape.
The fat vampire rushed up and yanked me by the hair, "You thief! How dare you mess up in my kitchen! You are in deep shit! The King is here! He will punish you severely!"
It was only after she had said that I noticed a man standing behind her, only to be blocked by her.
Before I could see the man's face, I heard him yell, "Let her go!"
He rushed to my side like a gust of wind.
He grabbed the fat chef's wrist and made her release my hair.
I could finally look up and see that the man helping me was King Louis.
"K... King, she's a thief..." the fat chef said with a trembling voice in fear.
"Shut up." King Louis glared at her, then asked me, "Why are you here?"
"I was hungry. I came in to get some food," I said.
"What kind of food did you find?"
I was confused as to why King Louis would ask that, and with an expression of seeming kindness. I thought he would taunt or reprimand me.
I pulled out the tomatoes and eggs, "That's all I wanted to take away."
"Your Majesty, she is not telling the whole truth! I saw her lift the lid of the pot, and I suspect she poisoned the pot!"
The fat chef lifted the lid of the pot to accuse me, "Look! She must have added something to the pot!"
"Keep your voice down, you're killing my ears!"
To my surprise, King Louis reprimanded the chef.
The chef also froze. After a while, she said in a low voice, "She must have poisoned the pot..."
The king didn't pay any attention to her, but looked me in the eye and asked, "Did you add something to the pot?"
"Yes. She left halfway through cooking. The food in the pot was almost overcooked. I added water. And added a couple of eggs."
"I left halfway through cooking because the king summoned me. He asked me to prepare a nutritious recipe for a werewolf. Don't try to accuse me of incompetence falsely. I'm a professional chef!"
She suddenly noticed the hard-boiled eggs in their shells floating up. She cursed me angrily.
"Look what a stupid thing you've done! You put the eggs in the pot without shelling them! Those humans can't eat eggs shells at all! You don't know anything, and you ruin my perfect food..."
"Wait, The werewolf you mentioned...is that me?" I interrupted the chef's persistent whining. She said the king had summoned her to prepare a nutritious recipe for a werewolf.
As far as I know, vampires only keep one werewolf, me, in addition to human blood slaves.
The chef froze at my question. She looked at King Louis.
I also looked at King Louis.
In the face of my and the cook's questioning gaze, King Louis nodded his head.
"In order to safeguard the fairness of my bet with the alpha of the Blood Moon pack, I need to make sure she is well and alive before her child is born."
"Oh no..." I was adamant that this must be King Louis' way of punishing and abusing me. He put this awful chef in charge of my future food, and I'd rather starve than eat this pot of poop.
"Are you sure she's a professional chef?"
"Of course, I'm a professional! I've been doing this job of raising humans for thirty years!" The chef was upset that I questioned her ability to do her job.
King Louis said, "She is very good at raising humans. The mortality rate of human blood slaves is greatly reduced after she raises them. And the average lifespan of human blood slaves has increased."
"Oh gosh, so you guys think a chef is a good chef as long as the food she makes doesn't kill people?" His answer sent me into despair.
"Can I apply to cook my own food?" I said.
"You can cook?" The vampire king asked.
"She doesn't know how to cook at all! Look! She doesn't even shell the eggs!" The chef yelled out.
"Shut up! I'll chop your tongue off if you make any more noise!"
After being scolded by King Louis, the chef finally bowed his head and shut his mouth.
My ears finally stopped having to suffer.
I have over ten years of cooking experience, and when I was at Black River Pack, I was in charge of the entire pack's diet. Making food for myself was a breeze.
I made a pumpkin pie as fast as I could, and a pot of tomato gumbo soup while I waited for the baking to finish.
The chef kept shaking her head while I was making the food. She kept whispering, "How can you deal with ingredients like that? It must taste horrible."
I didn't pay any attention to her. If the vampires don't eat food other than blood, they are not qualified to evaluate food.
After I made them, I just needed pumpkin pie and a small bowl of tomato gumbo. There was a large pot left over. I told them to take the rest to the human blood slaves.
The chef shook her head again, "They won't eat something that horrible."
"Do as she said," King Louis ordered.
"As ordered." The chef dared not disobey. She took my tomato gumbo and the pot of poop she had made to the human blood slaves.
My hungry stomach urged me to eat as soon as possible. I ignored King Louis, who was still standing in the kitchen, and cut a piece of pumpkin pie to eat straight away.
"It smells delicious," King Louis said.
It turns out their olfactory system is normal. That chef made such bad food that I thought the vampires' olfactory system was utterly broken.
I think King Louis is acting a little strangely today. It was like he was deliberately trying to be nice to me.
I still hate him, but I really don't want to get into a confrontation with him. In my current state, it's better to keep the peace.
"Would you like to try a piece?" After asking, I added, "Can vampires eat food other than blood?"
" Yes, we can eat. We just don't need to eat them. No matter how much food we eat, they can't provide us with nutrition. We don't even need blood to stay alive. We just thirst for blood."
"Oh, thanks for explaining." Without looking up, I handed him a piece of pumpkin pie.
I expected him to take it, but he actually licked my finger.
"Eeeeeek!" I almost jumped up, "What the fvck are you doing?"
"Your finger hurts."
It was then I noticed a small cut on my finger, probably from when I was cutting the pumpkin accidentally. I hadn't even noticed it.
Damn the keen sense of smell!
He picked up a piece of pumpkin pie for himself, took a bite, and commented, "Not bad."
Soon he added, "Your blood tastes like pumpkin pie."
Damn vampire, I knew he must have wanted my blood. Despite his previous denials, all he did was act like he wanted my blood.
I wasn't surprised. There will be some humans who like foods with a stench, like durian and canned herring. They think special. Perhaps, for King Louis, my blood is such food with a special taste.
"Under the premise of not affecting my life safety, I will provide you with some blood every week. In exchange, you are responsible for keeping me safe and allowing me to cook for myself. What do you think?"
"Deal." He agreed very quickly. As if he was afraid I would back out.
But soon, he regretted it. "How about providing a little blood every day?"
"I'll die."
"Aren't you werewolves stronger than humans?"
"I'm pregnant. A pregnant woman's body is pretty weak. It's very unethical to make a pregnant woman give blood."
"What if I force you to provide blood to me every three days as a vampire king?"
"Then I will go on a hunger strike and starve myself to death."
He stopped talking. He just stared at my fingers and licked his lips.
