Chapter 61 Labour
Chapter 61 Labour
Labor came at dawn on a cold December morning, exactly seven months after Emily first felt the twins’ heartbeats.
She woke with a sharp, twisting cramp low in her belly—stronger than the Braxton Hicks that had plagued her for weeks. She gasped, hand flying to the taut dome of her stomach. Beside her, Logan snapped awake instantly—eyes glowing gold in the pre-dawn light.
“Emily?”
She exhaled shakily. “It’s time.”
The room erupted into controlled chaos.
Within minutes the entire pack was moving—Lucas already on the phone with the obstetrician, Liam stripping the bed of extra pillows, Lowell grabbing the pre-packed hospital bag (even though the birth would happen here—the brothers had converted one of the private wings into a state-of-the-art birthing suite months ago). Luke dimmed the lights to soft amber, Leo started the sound system with the low, calming playlist they’d curated together, Levi hovered at her side like a nervous puppy, holding her hand.
Logan never left her.
He scooped her up—gentle despite the urgency—carried her to the birthing suite. The room was warm, softly lit, scented with lavender and cedar. A wide, low bed dominated the center—sheets already turned down, waterproof padding beneath. Medical equipment stood discreetly in the corner, but the space felt more like sanctuary than hospital.
They laid her down.
Logan knelt at her side—held her hand—kissed her knuckles. “We’ve got you, sweet girl. Breathe with me.”
The contractions came fast—wolf births were swift, intense, designed for efficiency. Emily gripped Logan’s hand hard enough to bruise even an alpha—panted through the waves—sweat already beading on her forehead.
Lucas knelt on her other side—cool cloth to her brow—whispering love and encouragement.
“You’re doing so good, love. So strong. Our babies are almost here.”
Liam stood at her feet—hands gentle on her knees—helping her open with each push. “That’s it, baby. Push when you feel it. We’re right here.”
The obstetrician—a calm, silver-haired wolf named Dr. Reyes—arrived within fifteen minutes. She checked Emily—nodded approvingly.
“Fast progress. First one’s crowning already. You’re built for this, Luna.”
Emily laughed—half sob, half exhilaration—then bore down again.
The room filled with her cries—raw, powerful—mixed with the low, encouraging growls of her mates.
Logan never looked away from her face—his free hand stroking her hair—voice steady even as his eyes glistened.
“You’re incredible,” he whispered. “Look at you bringing our children into the world. I love you so fucking much.”
She pushed again—long, sustained—and felt the first rush of release.
A cry—sharp, furious, alive—split the air.
Dr. Reyes lifted the baby—tiny, red, perfect—cord still pulsing.
“A boy,” she announced—voice thick with emotion.
Lowell whooped—then immediately clapped a hand over his mouth.
The baby was placed on Emily’s chest—warm, slippery, already rooting against her breast.
Emily sobbed—open, joyful—arms wrapping around him.
“Hi, baby,” she whispered—kissing his damp head. “Hi, my little one.”
The boy had a shock of silver-white hair—already thick—and when he opened his eyes—briefly—they flashed pure silver before settling to stormy gray.
Silverfang.
The power hummed in him—faint but unmistakable.
Another contraction hit—harder.
Emily cried out—handed the boy carefully to Lucas—who cradled him like he was made of glass—tears streaming down his face.
“Push, sweetheart,” Logan urged—voice cracking. “One more.”
She bore down—growling low—wolf and woman together.
The second baby came faster—sliding free with a rush of fluid and a furious wail.
“A girl,” Dr. Reyes said—smiling through tears.
She laid the tiny girl on Emily’s chest—beside her brother.
Silver hair—identical.
Eyes opening—silver flash—then soft hazel.
Emily stared down at them—two perfect, furious little beings—already strong, already powerful.
She kissed their heads—one after the other—tears falling onto their skin.
“My babies,” she whispered. “My beautiful babies.”
The brothers closed in—slow, reverent—surrounding the bed.
Logan kissed her forehead—then each tiny head. “You did it,” he whispered—voice wrecked. “You gave us the most perfect gifts.”
Lucas cradled the boy—tears streaming—kissed his forehead. “Hello, son.”
Liam took the girl—huge hands gentle—kissed her cheek. “Princess. My fierce little girl.”
Lowell leaned over—kissed Emily’s temple—then each baby. “Hey troublemakers. Welcome to the chaos.”
Luke touched the boy’s tiny fist—tears slipping. “You’re already stronger than any of us.”
Leo kissed the girl’s brow—voice thick. “You’ll rule the world someday.”
Levi—youngest—sobbed openly—kissed Emily’s cheek—then the babies’ heads. “I’m gonna be the best uncle-dad ever. Promise.”
Dr. Reyes stepped back—smiling. “They’re perfect. Strong heartbeats. Strong lungs. Early power signs—silver eyes, dominant aura already. They’ll be forces.”
Emily looked up at her mates—exhausted, radiant, glowing silver.
“I love you,” she whispered—to all of them, to the babies, to the life they’d built.
Seven voices answered—overlapping, reverent.
“We love you.”
Logan kissed her—slow, deep—then rested his forehead against hers.
“Our family,” he murmured.
Emily smiled—tears slipping—looked down at the twins now nursing at her breasts—tiny hands fisted in her skin.
“Our family,” she echoed.
And in that quiet, sacred moment—surrounded by seven alphas who’d fought for her, bled for her, built for her—Emily held her children and knew:
She was no longer just surviving.
She was thriving.
Loved.
Powerful.
Whole.
And the twins—boy and girl, silver-haired and already shimmering with untapped might—were only the beginning.
The Silverfang line had returned.
Stronger than ever.
And it was theirs to protect.
Theirs to love.
Theirs to raise.
