Chapter 50 Shifted

Chapter 50 Shifted
The Grand Aurora ballroom had been glittering and tense all night, but the moment Oscar stepped onto the raised dais beside the orchestra platform, the air turned electric with malice.

He moved with the confidence of a man who had rehearsed this moment for weeks. Black tuxedo impeccable, blond hair swept back, smile charming and cold. Magnus stood two paces behind him—silent, silver-haired, arms folded—watching like a predator who’d already scented blood.

The music faltered. Conversations died. Hundreds of wolves turned as one.

Oscar lifted a small microphone from the stand—voice smooth, carrying effortlessly through the suddenly silent room.

“Ladies and gentlemen of the Council, honored Alphas, fellow pack members.” He paused, letting the silence thicken. “Tonight was meant to celebrate unity. Instead, I stand before you to expose a grave injustice.”

Emily felt Logan’s hand tighten on her waist until it hurt. She didn’t flinch. She couldn’t. Every muscle in her body had locked.

Oscar’s eyes found hers across the sea of faces.

“Three months ago, my mate—Emily Anderson—was taken from me. Kidnapped. Brainwashed. Turned against her own pack, her own mate bond, by the Walker brothers.”

A collective inhale rippled through the room.

Logan stepped forward—body shielding hers—voice low and lethal. “You dare—”

Oscar raised a hand—calm, theatrical. “I have proof.”

He gestured.

Behind him, a massive screen lowered from the ceiling.

The footage began.

Grainy at first—security camera from the club where Emily had collapsed into Lucas’s arms. The angle showed Lucas scooping her up, carrying her out while she hung limp. No context. No sound of her pleading “help me.” Just the image of a drugged woman being taken by a stranger.

Next clip: Emily in the penthouse hallway—disoriented, still in the red dress—being guided by Lucas’s arm around her waist. She looked unsteady, eyes glassy.

Final clip: a doctored audio overlay—her voice, edited, spliced from old voicemails she’d left Oscar.

“Please… don’t let them take me… I don’t want this…”

The room erupted.

Shouts. Gasps. Growls.

Magnus stepped forward—voice calm, authoritative.

“The Walker brothers have violated sacred mate law. They have coerced and imprisoned a claimed female. We demand immediate release of Emily Anderson into Council custody for evaluation—and justice.”

Oscar’s eyes locked on Emily again—triumphant.

“Come home, Em,” he said softly into the microphone. “I forgive you. We can fix this. Together.”

Emily’s wolf surged—claws scraping inside her fingertips, eyes flashing silver.

Logan moved to shield her completely—Liam and Lowell already shifting stance, ready to tear throats.

The crowd split—some wolves stepping forward in support of the Walkers, others edging toward Magnus’s side. Tension crackled like dry lightning.

Then Oscar delivered the final blow.

“She’s not just any wolf,” he said. “She’s Silverfang. The last of the line. And the Walkers are using her—her power, her blood—for their own dominance. They’ve brainwashed her into believing she belongs to all seven. They plan to complete a forced septuple bond to steal god-like abilities. They’ll control every pack on this continent.”

Chaos.

Wolves snarled.

Alphas roared.

A glass shattered somewhere.

Someone shifted—halfway—claws out.

Liam lunged first—barreling toward Oscar—only to be intercepted by three Dark Moon enforcers who’d materialized from the crowd.

Lowell tackled another.

Lucas shoved Emily behind him—body a wall.

Logan roared—a sound that shook the chandeliers.

“ENOUGH!”

But it was too late.

The room exploded into violence.

Tables overturned.

Gowns ripped.

Claws flashed.

Blood sprayed across marble.

Emily stumbled back—heart hammering—until her spine hit the wall.

She saw it all in flashes:

Logan tearing through two enforcers—blood on his tuxedo shirt.

Liam snapping a neck—eyes blazing gold.

Lowell laughing maniacally while he threw a wolf across the room.

Lucas shielding her—taking a claw to the arm—blood dripping.

Luke and Leo fighting back-to-back—precise, deadly.

Levi—youngest—feral—tearing into anyone who got too close.

They were outnumbered.

Magnus’s enforcers had been seeded throughout the crowd—waiting.

And Oscar stood on the dais—smiling—watching like he’d already won.

Emily’s vision tunneled.

Her wolf howled—furious, protective.

No more hiding.

No more shame.

No more running.

She stepped out from behind Lucas.

“Emily—stay back!” he shouted.

She didn’t.

She closed her eyes.

And let go.

The shift came like fire and lightning.

Bones cracked—rearranged—muscle tore and rebuilt in seconds.

Fur erupted—thick, shimmering silver that caught every light in the room.

Her body lengthened—massive, powerful—shoulders broader than any alpha present, paws the size of dinner plates, tail sweeping the floor.

A massive silver wolf stood where Emily had been.

Bigger than Logan’s wolf.

Bigger than any wolf in the room.

Her eyes—pure molten silver—swept the chaos.

She roared—a sound that rattled windows, shattered crystal, forced every wolf in the room to their knees in instinctive submission.

Even the alphas staggered.

Magnus’s smile vanished.

Oscar paled.

The silver wolf moved—fast, lethal grace.

She leaped onto the dais—landed between Oscar and Magnus—hackles raised, fangs bared.

Oscar stumbled back.

“Emily—”

She snapped—teeth inches from his throat.

He froze.

The wolf turned—looked at the Walkers.

They stared—bloodied, breathing hard—eyes wide with awe.

She padded to them—slow—head lowered—not submission, but protection.

She pressed against Logan’s side—massive shoulder against his hip—then circled them once—tail brushing each brother in turn.

A clear message.

Mine.

All of them.

Try to touch them and die.

The room was frozen—every wolf on their knees, heads bowed—instinct overriding politics.

Even Magnus dropped to one knee—reluctantly—eyes wide.

The silver wolf lifted her head—howled again—long, triumphant, shaking the very foundations.

Then—slowly—gracefully—she shifted back.

Naked.

Glowing faintly silver.

Standing tall.

She looked down at Oscar—voice calm, deadly.

“You lost me the moment you put your hand on me in anger.”

She looked at Magnus.

“And you lost the moment you thought you could use me.”

She turned to the room—voice carrying without effort.

“I am Emily Anderson. Last of the Silverfang line. Mate to the Walker brothers. Luna of their pack. And I choose them. Willingly. Freely. Completely.”

She looked back at her mates—eyes soft now.

“I’m done hiding.”

Logan stepped forward—ripped his tuxedo jacket off—wrapped it around her shoulders.

Then he kissed her—hard, claiming—right there in front of every pack leader in North America.

The others closed ranks—hands on her, touching, grounding.

The room stayed silent.

No one dared speak.

Magnus rose slowly—face pale.

“This isn’t over,” he said.

Emily smiled—small, dangerous.

“It is for you.”

She turned—still wrapped in Logan’s jacket—still flanked by seven bloodied, proud alphas.

They walked out together—through the parted crowd—heads high.

No one tried to stop them.

Outside, in the cold night air, Emily shifted again—silver wolf leaping into the waiting SUV.

The brothers piled in after her—doors slamming.

The vehicle peeled away.

Inside—Emily shifted back—naked, glowing, laughing through tears.

Logan pulled her onto his lap—kissed her fiercely.

“You were magnificent,” he growled.

She kissed him back—then each of them in turn—tasting blood and sweat and victory.

“I protected you,” she whispered.

Lucas cupped her face. “You always will.”

Liam pressed his forehead to hers. “And we’ll protect you.”

Lowell grinned. “That was the hottest fucking thing I’ve ever seen.”

Luke kissed her knuckles. “Our Luna.”

Leo smiled—quiet, proud. “Our queen.”

Levi nuzzled her neck. “Our goddess.”

Emily leaned back against Logan’s chest—surrounded, safe, powerful.

The war wasn’t over.

But tonight—they had won.

And the world now knew:

Emily Anderson was no longer prey.

She was the storm.

And she belonged to the Walkers.

Just as fiercely as they belonged to her.
