Chapter Seventy Nine

Chapter Seventy Nine
Elliot

When the brothers came in I was a little hesitant to face Lincoln. It was obvious what they talked about and I just knew Axel told him that I was the culprit that revealed his hidden secret. But as they walked up to the front of the house they were both smiling, laughing even. And that made my heart swoon with joy.

“Something must have happened.” Andi mumbles as he comes to stand next to me looking at his sons.

“I think they finally talked about things that needed to be talked about.” I answer him.

“Looks like it. I’ve never seen them be so relaxed in each other’s company before. Civil, maybe even cordial, but to be absolutely comfortable…that’s something new.”

“I think it’s a good look on them. They finally look like brothers.” Tristan comes up to stand on Andi’s other side, slowly rubbing his belly.

“It’s a great look. So many good changes have been happening to this family lately, and I say it’s about time that it does.” Andi turns to me as he says this, squeezing my arm gently before walking away. “Dinner is underway. I’m going to get the kids to start cleaning up to get ready for dinner.”

I fully understood where he was coming from. Having me and Cyan pop back into Lincoln’s life has changed him drastically. What was once mine alone was now becoming a part of everyone else. And I was overjoyed that it was finally happening.

I hear the door open as they come in. Bracing myself I head in their direction until we met halfway. Lincoln really did look a lot lighter than he has been lately. His cheeks were more flushed, his under eyes less dark. He heads straight towards me as he asks,

“Where’s Cyan?”

“Upstairs with the others getting ready for dinner. How was your day?” I take a hold of his tie and start loosing it a bit. I always thought he looked good in a suit. It framed his tall figure a little too well, showing off his broad shoulders, trimmed waist and sculpted ass. He was definitely eye candy for sure and was even named one of the hottest men in our region. Sometimes it was hard not to get jealous while we were out as people, men and women, stared at him a little too brazenly.

“So…” I start off carefully.

“We talked. And I’m not mad. I think it’s a good thing it finally came out.” He softly tells me, watching my expression.

“Should have came out a long time ago.” I quirk a brow at him, taking a hold of his waist and pulling him a little closer to me.

He just shrugs making me roll my eyes at the stubbornness of the man. “Dinner is almost done. Let’s go get changed into something more comfortable.”

Together we head up the stairs as he tells me about his conversation with his brother. And while listening, I couldn’t help the grin splaying across my face as I hear the joy and excitement in his tone, even though he was trying hard not to express it as much. Soon that excitement turned into a different kind as he watches me undress and lets just say we ended up being an hour late to dinner.

For the next few days everything was calm and quiet. Nothing amiss as we all go about our everyday routine. I squat down as I readjust Cyan’s jacket. The weather was starting to get chilly as fall was slowly turning into winter.

“You have your lunch box?” I ask.

“Yes.”

“Did you make sure to pack your lucky pencil?”

“Of course!” He states happily as he stands there allowing me to readjust his backpack and clothes.

“What about your bracelet?” I give him a look.

He huffs as he shows me his little wrist where the tracker Lincoln purchased for each of the children was securely attached. We both made sure he completely understood why it was important to have it on at all times.

“Good. Now give me a kiss goodbye. You have a great day in class, my love.”

He quickly hugs me and kisses my cheek before rushing off to the front door as he takes Toby’s hand. “Bye Mommy!” He calls out, waving at me before being ushered into the car with Shiri.

“Toby, stay with him at all times.” I call out, watching my entire world about to leave my sight.

“Always, Master Elliot.” Toby bows his head before heading for the driver’s side to take them to preschool.

We did this every morning. But no matter how many times we do I couldn’t help the feeling of anxiety hit me watching my offspring leave those gates without me with him. Before I would always take him myself, my father picking him up. Our lives weren’t in danger then, but now, with all these threats and the outside world learning who Cyan truly was, the danger became more real.

Taking a slow deep breath I turn away to grab my own belongings to head for college. Lincoln had left before the sun even rose, getting a call that one of the offices got flooded from an unexpected, busted pipe. Normally he would be here to see us off, sometimes taking Cyan himself. But with new things arising that was affecting his business he wasn’t able to do that.

“The car is ready, Master Elliot.” Tanner, one of my guards, announce.

“I’m ready.” I tell him and walk out the door with all three of them following.

My first class wasn’t even over when Cameron came rushing in freaking out. Professor Swan stops in the middle of his lecture from the interruption. I immediately stand seeing the panic on his face and as soon as he sees me he cries out,

“Tristan’s water broke!”

I don’t hesitate to leave the room, everyone around us starting to mumble and gossip. We both run down the hall. “Did you call Axel?”

“Of course, he’s already on his way. I told Tristan we need to call the ambulance, but he refuses. One of the guards is helping him to the car now.”

We rush out of the building to see Tristan leaned over the side of the vehicle, holding his belly as he slowly breathes in and out like he was taught to do. I was the first to reach him. “How far apart are the contractions?” I demand him, worry slamming into me.

“About ten minutes.” He breathes out.

“We need to get you to the hospital.” I open the door to get him inside.

“Axel is coming though.”

“We’ll call him back and tell him to meet us at the hospital-”

“No! I want Axel with me now.” He stubbornly states.

I could hear the fear in his voice. Laying a hand on his shoulder I gently say, “Tristan, you’ve done this before. He’ll be with you as soon as he gets there.”

He shakes his head stubbornly. “No, I want Axel.” He says again, this time closing his eyes tightly as another painful wave hits him.

At this point people were gathering around to see what was going on. The Dean was talking to Tanner and Cameron as I try to convince the hardheaded Omega to get in the car. Cameron comes rushing back, gently placing his hand on his lower back and starts rubbing it circles.

“Axel is here.”

I look up just as he pulls in like a maniac, nearly hitting some of the students that were in the way and parks in the center of the road. Not bothering to check them or say sorry he jets to Tristan’s side.

“How far apart are they?” He demands just as I did.

Tristan doesn’t bother answering as he shoves his body against his, burying his face in his chest as the vulnerability in his voice was finally heard. “Axel, it’s too soon. We still have two weeks left.”

“Hey babe, it’s going to be okay. It’s just like with Zachary remember? He was a little early too, the doctor said that this can be normal.” He soothes, pushing back his hair to kiss his forehead.

“But what if it isn’t?” His voice shook.

“Then let’s get to the hospital to make sure they’re okay.” Even though his tone sounded strong and calm, I could tell Axel was anything but.

Tristan nods his head and together they pile into the car. I lean in to say, “I’ll take your car, we’ll meet you guys at the hospital.”

He nods and I watch them drive off in a hurry.
