Chapter 19

Chapter 19

Tyler's POV

"Why don't you sit down and let's talk this through? You don't expect to barge into the warehouse and grab me by the collar. That's not very gentlemanly, is it now?" Erwin asked. I hate the little smile that is on his face, but somehow I know that he is going to win his argument if I push it.

Alex steps inside and places a hand on my shoulder, calming me down. I keep glaring at him and slowly let his shirt go.

"You have to give me a very good explanation for what I'm hearing," I said, a hint of threat lacing my voice.

Erwin drummed his fingers on the table with a small frown. "Have a seat, Lycan," he says, his voice now serious.

I'm glad that this man is finally off his face. I feel like now we can finally talk about things that actually matter, like why the shipments of the cargos were illegal and unauthorized.

I still feel like there's no need for us to sit down and talk, but I comply, making a mental note to make this mission very short.

"What are you up to, Aaron? You're not planning on a civil war, are you?"

Aaron let out a laugh, his expression incredulous. "Whoa," he asked, "with a couple of silver weapons? You can't be serious."

"I just happened to get my hands on the top-notch ammunition before it got circulated around," he explains. "And after seeing the gravity of the situation, just how deadly they are and how they can easily spark war between the packs, I ordered that for the people in charge of manufacturing of weapons to be assassinated," he said, his eyes never wavErwing. The wild look on his face was one of pure honesty - I could tell he was telling the truth.

I felt a shiver run down my spine at his words, sensing the menace behind it. "Yeah, human weapons, I see," keeping my voice level. "Do you want a war with the humans?" I asked.

"Well, that's where it got a little bit interesting," Erwin continued, lifting from his chair and walked around, placing his hands behind him.

My eyes twitched. Now he was just showing off, wasn't he? However, I can't do anything to stop him since he's the one with the information, and he can share it however he pleases, even though he's doing it in the most annoying way possible.

"Now you see, out of fear for their lives, they ended up striking a deal with me," he added, stopping beside me, his expression grim. "They agreed to work for us, supplying only our pack with the silver bullets. Ten new shipments coming on Monday. Imagine the kind of power that would give us," he says.

"Well, I've been through this before," keeping my voice level. "I don't want anything to do with shady business. I already have enough people calling me a traitor to add this to the list," I said sternly.

"Yes, yes, but it doesn't hurt to keep them," he said.

"You better start making your points, otherwise I'm going to get really mad," I frowned, looking at him, obviously unimpressed.

"Well, while you're being mad at me, I need you to remember that any other pack would have had their hands on these weapons before us, and you know what that would mean," he asked, stepping back from me with a frown on his face. "You just don't understand, do you, Lycan? I would think that you'd be smarter considErwing all that you've been through."

"Yes," I say, my eyes finally softening. "I get what you're saying, manager. I really do." I stand up, rubbing my temples. "But now what am I going to tell Alpha Rufus and the rest when they come asking for answers? Somehow they expect me to know more about these new weapons."

"You don't have to tell them anything at all," he said clearly.

I actually hate the way he's starting to make points now, but he's right. I don't have to tell them anything.

"So we hoard all the silver bullets and then what?" I asked, maybe able to change his mind if I point out the fact that there was absolutely no need for this kind of ammunition that could end all the wolf packs in a single night.

The manager let out a sly grin. "Oh, you'll find use for it, trust me, and very soon too."

I raise an eyebrow, not liking the way he put it.

"Well, I'm guessing what you don't," Alex said. I turn to face him. The latter was leaning against the wall. He let out a lazy yawn.

"What's your deal?" I ask with a frown. Honestly, a lot of people were pissing me off this night. Maybe if I had a gun, I would shoot them first.

"You act like such a saint, Tyler," he pushed off from the wall and walked towards the table, sitting down with a little smile on his face.

"You could have fooled me. You better start making a point," I warned.

"You have enemies, and you know it. Why not get rid of them now that you have the chance?" he asked. But of course, Alex immediately held his hands up in the air in surrender. "Don't bother about me. No one listens to the lycan spy anyway."

I rolled my eyes at him but said nothing in response to his words. These two folks had already planted the idea into my mind, and now it was going to start bearing fruits. Of course, I had a couple of people that I wanted to kill. Let's take Alpha Sleeper for instance. Maybe I should get started on a plot to end them.

"Well," Erwin began, his expression unreadable, "if you ever want to test the efficiency of the silver bullets, you're more than welcome in my labs," he offered with a small smile that showed he knew exactly what he was doing.

"The meeting here is over," I stood up, unable to bear their company anymore. These two were genuinely trying to do terrible things. My mind was bad enough without two of them in it. "Let's head back," I said to Alex.

He gave a nod and said something to Erwin. The latter waved as we exited the office. I was preoccupied in my head, taking over the manager's words carefully. Maybe I could tell that it was a good choice that we were the first ones to get our hands on the silver bullets, but there was a slight chance that they might be double-crossing us. From the men Erwin mentioned, that would explain why we were going around about new ammunition that could end and create wars within the packs. I know that's the reason why someone like Rufus would know about it.

My eyes turned green as I realized the gravity of the situation. "Alex," I said, causing him to look at me, his eyebrows raised.

"I need you to get the names of the humans making these weapons."

Alex just looked at me with a small frown, no doubt wondErwing what the hell I was up to this time. "Got it," he said with a nod. "And after that?" he asked, knowing for sure there would be something else.

Our feet echoed against the marble tiles as we made our way to the exits of the huge warehouse. "Kill them secretly," I said coldly.

Alex stiffened next to me, but he didn't offer comments. Thankfully, "Consider it done," he said.

I glanced at him, noting the seriousness in his eyes. Good, I thought with a sigh of relief. He understood the matter that was at hand.

The guard was waiting for us in his sport car as we went into the driveway. Soon enough, I was back at my manor, stressed out. I want nothing more than to sleep like a log until the following day.

As I go up the stairs, passing by the third wing, my mind strays back to Lola, distantly wondErwing if she arrived here safely like I instructed. I take a detour as I get closer, deciding to check upon her for the first time since I saw her that drunk. Well, maybe not the first, but tonight was definitely out of character with all the events of the night - a lot of activities taking place at once. It was no wonder that I was this tired.

I knocked softly on her door, but there was no reply. I took that as an invitation and pushed the door open, peering inside. A figure lay on the bed fast asleep, and a small smile broke out on my face. Now there she was, looking perfectly harmless, like the Lola I knew - the one I had saved months ago from certain death.

The soft lights that came from the doorway illuminated her face, but only dimly. I could just make out the faint curls of her hair and her long lashes that added delicate beauty to her face. With shock, I realized that I had been staring for a while now.

"Sleep well," I muttered under my breath, stepping out of the room and carefully closing the door back.
