Chapter 15 leave her alone
"Know where you belong, I'm not a whore like you," Finding it unbearable to control my anger, the words furiously escaped out of my mouth. My voice trembled slightly, but I stood my ground, heart pounding against my ribs like a caged animal. I could feel their cold, ancient eyes drilling into me, unblinking, inhuman.
"Have you just replied to me like that?" she sneered back, a bit shocked, her irises glowing faintly golden in the dim candlelight. Her skin was porcelain-perfect, too smooth, too still, nothing like the flushed heat on my human cheeks. She curled her lips, baring sharp canines for just a second, reminding me exactly what she was and what I wasn’t.
"I can do more than that," I confidently hissed out, though fear crawled up my spine like icy fingers. My body was shaking with the effort to stand tall in a room full of predators who could tear me apart in less than a heartbeat.
"Take her right now back to her room," Jaden roared at the guards, his voice thunderous and deep, echoing through the ancient stone walls like a beast’s command. His eyes had that terrifying golden glow again, feral rage barely leashed.
"Keep on keeping me here and you will see the worst of me," I snarled at him too, my voice wild with desperation before the guards grabbed my arms. Their touch was unnaturally strong, like steel brushing my skin, and they moved with unnatural speed and grace as they dragged me away.
As soon as the heavy door was slammed shut by the guards, I dropped down on the bed and a loud scream fell out of my mouth. This is what I really hated. The loneliness. The helplessness. The knowledge that I was the only warm-blooded being in a den of cold-blooded monsters.
"Better tell that leader of yours to let—" I instantly trailed off mid-sentence when the door, out of the blue, burst open with a gust of wind and a shuddering creak.
"So it seems as though you forgot the rules," Jaden burst out as soon as he closed the door behind his back. His movements were smooth in a way that was beastlike and he stood there like a shadow come to life, his eyes glinting like molten gold under the dim chandeliers.
"All you forgot was that I'm a human, not like you werewolves. I will never follow any of your rules," I was hurting and felt on the verge of tears as I yelled at him, my throat dry and raw. I could feel how out of place I was, my heartbeat thundered loud in the silence, a sound none of them shared. My breath fogged the air slightly, while his didn’t move at all.
"RHENA!..."
"You really thought that I could stand there and watch that bitch humiliate me? I've had enough and I don't care!" I shouted louder than him, even though my voice cracked at the end. My fists clenched, nails biting into my palms. I was weak, yes, but I wouldn’t let them break me. Not yet.
"You're really worse than what I was told." In a split second, I found myself being slammed against the wall, cold stone scraping my back, his hands tightly secured around my wrists with impossible strength. I gasped, the speed, the strength , it was inhuman.
"I don't care about the way you were replying to your useless husband but in my pack, you do have to watch how to speak. I won't hesitate to break your flimsy neck. The next time you disrespect me, I will do it within a second," he growled angrily, his grip tightening slightly on my throat. His canines flashed when he spoke, inches from my skin, and his scent earthy, wild surrounded me.
"You can do it right now," I provoked him, my voice strained but defiant. I refused to show fear, even as my body screamed with it.
"Why? There are many ways I can hurt you than giving you a quick death," he chuckled, happy with the idea. His laughter was low and chilling—so calm, so amused by my suffering.
"I want to first fuck the brains out of you and give birth to my heir, that's the only reason why you're right now alive," he said with a mischievous grin on his face. His voice was velvet-coated venom. My stomach twisted in disgust.
"That's your role in my pack, my surrogate," he hissed out before he threw me down on the bed. The mattress was too soft beneath my trembling body, like it wanted to swallow me whole. Though I was trying to stay strong, his words made tears flow down my cheeks. My fate was being a sex slave for everyone. A human womb for werewolf royalty.
"Tonight you were supposed to have a formal dinner with my family and other guests, but since you decided to break the rules, you will be left in isolation and locked up in the room," he spoke as he watched me stand up on the bed. I was nothing more than a pet, his voice made that clear.
"I don't fucking care," I still hissed out even though the tears were flowing down my face. My words were weak but defiant, choked in a sob.
"You bitch, learn manners." Within a few minutes, I was again pushed against the wall. The impact knocked the breath from my lungs.
"This is just the beginning. You're gonna keep doing only this till my death," I smirked at him as I watched his eyes glow. He was losing control. A part of me wanted him to snap—to prove he wasn’t the invincible god he acted like.
"I'm really trying my best to control myself. Don't create the beast out of me, Rhena," he almost breathed the words out before he gripped both my hands and placed them above my head. His breath was hot against my skin, and I could feel him trembling whether from rage or restraint, I didn’t know. It was now my turn to feel puzzled. A few minutes ago, he was harsh like an angry predator, and shockingly he was currently breathing hard in the crook of my neck. It was as if he was possessed. He was sniffing all over me, his nose trailing my skin, my scent.
"What is wrong with him?"
"Tell me once you're done," finding it unbearable, I spoke out. I wanted it to end whatever twisted thing he was doing.
"I regret why the moon goddess of all women chose you as my mate." Disgust was all over his face within a few minutes, then he threw me again on the bed. I didn’t say another word. Tears just streamed down my face. He left without throwing another glance at me.
"That son of a bitch."
Pushing his words to the back of my mind, I took a second, dried my tears, then walked over to the adjoining doors. My heart pounded again, adrenaline replacing fear.
Without giving it a second thought, I instantly started punching the door.
"I'm gonna break this door if you don't let me out!"
"I'm gonna kill myself!" I screamed loudly with hatred and rage flowing in my blood. My human blood. My fragile, warm, cursed blood.
I screamed for a good couple of minutes, but still, at the end, the guards burst out into a fit of laughter. Cold, merciless laughter.
Helpless and weak, I found myself slipping down the wall with tears streaming down my face.
No one in the world minded about me. I was fated to be mocked and be a toy for harsh men. Especially ones with fangs.
"Stop laughing at me, you fools!" When I heard the guards laugh again, I screamed loudly in anger.
All of a sudden, their laughter died down and out of the blue, the door flung open. Jaden was perhaps here again, ready to kill me.
Recalling his rudeness, I terribly crawled back to my bed. Surprisingly, the one who entered wasn’t him—it was a maid with a tray of food.
Noticing that she was the maid, I suddenly took in the wide open door. My eyebrows immediately shot up, adrenaline singing in my veins.
This was finally my time to be free.
"I wouldn't advise that, dear," the lady said, apparently having read my mind. Her voice was gentle, but her eyes were old… too old, too calm.
"Mind your own business, bitch," I hissed out and, ignoring her concerned expression, I ran past her. Within a few minutes, I was down some gigantic stairs.
The guards were running after me, but I was damn fast. I ran as fast as my legs could carry me. They were behind me, but I continued to run without turning to look back. I ran while following the routes I had taken before with the guards. I honestly didn’t know where I was running to, but I just went on. However, just as I was running, I instantly froze up in my clothes at what I saw next.
In just a few minutes, I was in the dining room where the guests and other important elders were seated, eating their dinner. Pale-skinned and silent, their heads slowly turned in eerie unison toward me, eyes gleaming unnaturally.
At the sight of the angry Jaden, I immediately turned on my heels and ran back toward the guards who were also shocked.
I had just intervened in the important dinner.
To make matters worse, I was the one known as the Alpha’s mate.
"Leave her. I’m gonna deal with her," I heard the angry growl of Jaden as I ran back toward the gigantic stairs.
Tonight I was going to be killed.
