Chapter 39 Pulling Out the Cancerous Tumor
Chapter 39 Pulling Out the Cancerous Tumor
In the CEO's office, the conversation from the abandoned warehouse played clearly.
Unedited, without any manipulation, it completely restored the scene from that time.
"...As long as you hand over the evidence and make me feel good, I promise I won't hurt you." Warren's sleazy, perverted voice sounded particularly grating in the quiet office.
Then came Grace's cold warning, "Warren, do you know what you're doing? I'm the daughter of Brown Group. If you dare touch a single hair on my head today, the entire Brown family will make sure you die without a burial place!"
The recording ended.
The evidence was ironclad.
Warren's face instantly turned ashen, his legs gave way, and he collapsed to his knees again.
He never imagined that in such a desperate situation, this woman could still calmly record complete evidence!
"Not just kidnapping and attempted rape." Grace looked at him coldly, handing a tiny USB drive to the police officer beside her. "This contains all the evidence of Starlight Entertainment's senior management cooking the books and money laundering for years. Officer, please investigate thoroughly."
Looking at that USB drive, a hint of desperate madness flashed in Warren's eyes. It's over, all over!
"Bitch! I'll kill you!"
Warren suddenly lunged up from the ground like a cornered mad dog, his face twisted as he rushed at Grace, trying to snatch the phone and USB drive from her hands to destroy this final evidence.
"Watch out!" Alfred cried out in alarm, wanting to intervene but it was too late.
Grace had no strength left to dodge.
Just as Warren's bloody, dirty hand was about to touch Grace, Dylan pulled Grace securely behind him, then lifted his long leg and with tremendous force, kicked Warren hard in the chest.
A sickening thud. Warren flew backward like a broken sack, crashed heavily into the hard wall, slid down, coughed up a mouthful of blood, and couldn't get up anymore.
Several police officers immediately rushed forward and pinned the limp Warren to the ground.
Cold handcuffs mercilessly locked around his wrists.
The metallic chill on his wrists finally shattered Warren's last shred of hope.
He looked at the stern-faced police officers, then at Dylan's eyes that looked at him like he was already dead, and completely broke down.
"Mr. Wilson! Grace! I was wrong, I really know I was wrong!" Warren's knees buckled, and he kowtowed frantically on the ground without caring about his image, his forehead hitting the marble floor with dull thuds.
Snot and tears covered his face, mixed with blood from his mouth, looking pathetic and disgusting. "I was possessed! Please show mercy, I have a wife and kids at home, I can't go to jail..."
Grace leaned against Dylan, coldly watching this man who had been so arrogant and foul-mouthed in the abandoned warehouse just moments ago, now begging like a homeless dog. There wasn't a trace of sympathy in her eyes, only bone-deep indifference.
"If you knew it would come to this, why did you do it in the first place?" Grace's voice was slightly hoarse but every word cut deep. "Your wife and kids are innocent, but what about those workers whose hard-earned money you withheld? Take him away."
The police remained unmoved, unceremoniously lifting the limp Warren and dragging him out like a dead dog.
Warren's desperate wails echoed in the corridor, gradually fading away.
Sam and the other implicated executives, who had been scared pale long ago, didn't even have the strength to beg for mercy now.
After verifying the list, the police handcuffed this group of officials who usually threw their weight around at Starlight Entertainment and took them all away for investigation.
In just half an hour, Starlight Entertainment, this cancerous tumor, had been completely uprooted.
Deathly silence returned to the office, with a faint smell of blood still lingering in the air.
Dylan withdrew his gaze, his eyes slowly moving until they finally landed on Daphne, who stood to the side with a pale face.
There wasn't a trace of brotherly warmth in those eyes—they were cold enough to freeze someone.
"Apologize." Dylan's thin lips parted, uttering two words.
Daphne's eyes widened in disbelief, her fingertips digging hard into her palms.
She bit her lower lip hard, her eyes instantly reddening.
Why should she? Grace was just a second-hand woman who had been married before. So what if she was the daughter of the Brown family? She was the young lady of the Wilson family! Why should she bow her head to this vixen who seduced Dylan!
"I won't!" Daphne stubbornly raised her chin, tears swirling in her eyes, her face full of unwillingness and grievance. "I didn't kidnap her, why should I apologize! Dylan, you've already hurt the company's executives for her sake, and now you want to trample on your own sister's dignity too?"
"You threw away your own dignity." Dylan looked at her, his tone revealing undisguised disgust. "You're stupid and ignorant, used as someone's pawn. Not only did you enable a criminal, but you also verbally abused the victim. The Wilson family's upbringing isn't meant for you to bully others. I'll say this one last time—apologize."
Dylan's gaze was too sharp, carrying the absolute oppressive force of someone in power.
Daphne trembled all over. She knew Dylan was truly angry.
If she didn't bow her head today, Dylan definitely had the means to make her completely lose her footing in the Wilson family.
Extreme humiliation engulfed her like a tide.
Daphne stared hard at Grace's pale but still coldly beautiful face, almost going crazy with jealousy.
She clenched her hands into fists, her nails digging deep bloody marks into her palms. Finally, intimidated by Dylan's authority, she lowered her head in humiliation.
"I'm... sorry." These three words were practically squeezed out from between her teeth, full of reluctance.
After speaking, Daphne couldn't bear the humiliation of being forced to admit her mistake in public any longer. Covering her face and crying, she turned and ran out of the office in her high heels without looking back.
With the crisis resolved, Grace's nerves, which had been tense all day, finally completely relaxed at this moment.
Once that forced energy dissipated, the screaming pain throughout her body and extreme exhaustion instantly engulfed her like a tsunami.
She groaned, swayed, her face deathly pale.
"Grace!" Dylan keenly noticed her condition, his heart tightening sharply.
Without hesitation, he bent down, his long arm reaching out to scoop her up horizontally. "I'll take you to the hospital."
"No need..." Grace instinctively pressed her hand against his solid chest, refusing his touch. She had always been proud and independent, and even in this miserable state, she wasn't used to showing weakness in front of others.
She forced herself to hold on, gritting her teeth, trying to push Dylan away and stand on her own. "I can walk by myself."
