Deep Affection

Deep Affection
Regina's POV

I sat behind the wheel, my heart racing with anticipation and nerves. I had been trying to meet with Daniel for what felt like an eternity, but every attempt had been thwarted by the guard at the mansion. I had felt suffocated, scared, and worried that Daniel truly didn't want to see me.

The message he had sent me, threatening to sue me if I continued to "pester" him, had been a particularly harsh blow. I couldn't help but remember the past, when I had sat outside his gate waiting for his return, only to be left waiting in vain.

But this time, I had decided not to give up. I wanted to hear from Daniel himself, to have him tell me to my face that he didn't want me anymore. I wanted him to look me in the eye and say that I should go away, that I should leave him alone.

Until then, I was determined to keep trying. I had followed Daniel's car, waiting for the perfect moment to confront him. And now, as I rolled down the window and caught sight of Daniel's surprised face, I felt a sense of trepidation mixed with determination. It was time to finally get some answers.

I followed Daniel's car, my heart racing with anticipation and nerves. I had been waiting for this moment for what felt like an eternity. As I blocked their way, I took a deep breath and knocked on the window.

When the glass rolled down, I felt my heart skip a beat as I stared at Daniel's handsome face. The slight bruise on his cheek only added to his rugged charm. I parted my lips to beg him, to plead with him to listen to me, but before I could speak, he suddenly rolled the window back up.

I felt a pang of confusion and hurt. Did he really not want to see me? Had he truly moved on? I stood there, frozen in uncertainty, wondering what to do next.

But then, to my surprise, Daniel opened the car door and stepped out. He stood in front of me, his eyes burning with intensity.

"Daniel, I---" Before I could even process what was happening, he slammed his lips to mine, kissing me like he hadn't seen me in years.

The world around me melted away as I felt his warm lips on mine. It was like no time had passed at all, and we were back to where we had left off. I felt my heart soaring, my soul stirring, as I kissed him back with all the passion and love I had been holding inside.

I kissed him back with every fiber of my being, not caring that we were in public. I had missed him so much, and the feeling of his lips on mine was like a breath of fresh air. I didn't know if this was a goodbye kiss, but I held out hope that it wouldn't be the end for us.

As Daniel pulled away, his eyes locked onto mine, filled with a deep longing. My heart skipped a beat as I saw the emotion in his eyes, giving me hope that he still wanted me.

He gently caressed my cheek, his thumb wiping away the tears that had streamed down my face without me even realizing it. I had been so caught up in staring at him that I hadn't even noticed my own tears.

Daniel's eyes were also teary, but he focused his attention on me, his voice filled with concern. "Are you okay?" he asked, his voice low and gentle.

I nodded, my voice barely above a whisper. "I'm sorry," I said, the words tumbling out of my mouth. "I'm so sorry for what happened between us. I hope you can forgive me for causing your accident."

I held my breath, waiting for his response.

Suddenly, Daniel wrapped his arms around me, and I felt a wave of relief wash over me. His whisper in my ear was like a soothing balm to my soul. "It's not your fault, Regina. And even if it was, I would never be mad at you. You mean too much to me. I would rather die than see you sad."

His words were like a key unlocking the floodgates of my emotions. I broke down in tears, sobbing uncontrollably as the weight of my guilt and worry lifted off my shoulders. I loved him so much, and hearing him say those words made my heart swell with emotion. I wanted to tell him how I felt, but before I could, he pulled back and kissed me again.

We pulled away from the kiss after a while. "I have a meeting with them now," he said. "But if you like, I can cancel it, and we can spend the day together."

I shook my head, not wanting him to miss the opportunity. "No, you should go," I said, smiling through my tears. "I'm glad you finally found them."

Daniel smiled back, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "I'll make it up to you tonight," he said, his voice low and husky. "Go on a date with me this evening, and I'll be there waiting."

My heart skipped a beat at the prospect of a date with Daniel. I nodded eagerly, still smiling through my tears. "I'd love to," I said, my voice barely above a whisper.

As Darryl cleared his throat, I knew our time together was limited. Daniel's eyes locked onto mine, and I could see the reluctance in his gaze. He didn't want to leave me, but he knew he had to. With a gentle smile, he pulled away from me, but not before giving me one last, sweet kiss.

My heart skipped a beat as his lips touched mine, sending shivers down my spine. As he broke away, I felt a pang of sadness, knowing he had to go. I watched as he got back into the car, his eyes never leaving mine until the car pulled away.

I sighed in relief, feeling the tension on my shoulders lessened. Our encounter had left me feeling hopeful and renewed. I got into my own car and drove back home, my mood significantly improved.

But as I stepped out of the car and into the building, my relief was short-lived. Alice came running towards me, a look of panic on her face, and Ryan clutched tightly in her arms. My heart skipped a beat as I took in the scene.

"What happened to him?" I asked, my voice laced with concern, as I rushed towards Alice.

But before Alice could respond, I had already pulled Ryan from her grasp. I could see that he was limp and unresponsive, and my maternal instincts kicked in. I barked orders at the chauffeur, "Get the car ready, we need to get him to the hospital, now!"

As we rushed towards the car, I could feel my heart racing with fear. What had happened to my child? Was he okay? I couldn't shake off the feeling of dread that had settled in the pit of my stomach.

I sat in the hospital room, feeling drained and helpless as I gazed at my son's fragile form. The doctor's words still echoed in my mind: bronchopulmonary dysplasia, special care. I had tried to process it all, but my mind felt numb and overwhelmed.

I let out a deep sigh, feeling the weight of my exhaustion. I had been so focused on Ryan's condition that I had completely forgotten about my date with Daniel. I glanced at the clock on the wall, and my heart sank as I realized I was already late.

I should have called him, I thought, feeling a pang of guilt. But in the chaos of the hospital, I had forgotten all about it. Now, I worried that Daniel might think I had stood him up, that I was still deceiving him.

Reaching for my phone, I intended to call him and explain the situation, but my hand closed on empty air. I remembered that I had left my phone in the car. I let out a frustrated sigh and turned to head out the door, but my feet faltered as I took in the sight before me.

He was standing in front of the door, his eyes locked on mine with a mixture of concern and curiosity. I felt a jolt of surprise, my heart skipping a beat as I took in the sight of him. He was the last person I had expected to see, and yet, here he was, standing in front of me with a look of gentle inquiry on his face.

For a moment, we just stared at each other, the air between us thick with unspoken questions. Then, Daniel's face softened, and he took a step closer to me. "Regina, what's going on?" he asked, his voice low and gentle. "I was worried sick when you didn't show up for our date. Is everything okay?"

He stepped into the room, he enveloped me in a warm hug, whispering softly that everything would be alright. I felt a wave of comfort wash over me as I leaned into his embrace. "How's he doing?" He asked.

"While the doctor said he's suffering from bronchopulmonary dysplasia. They'd need to put him under special care," I replied, trying to fight back tears.

I looked up at Daniel, curious about how he had found me. "How did you know we were here?" I asked.

He smiled faintly. "I called your house to see what had happened, and they told me about Ryan's condition. I had to come and make sure you were both okay."

My heart swelled with emotion as I watched Daniel walk over to Ryan's bed and gently gaze at my sleeping child. He then turned to me, pulling me close as he kissed my forehead.

"Have you eaten?" he asked, his voice filled with concern.

I shook my head, feeling a little guilty for not taking care of myself. Daniel nodded and dropped the bag he was holding on the table and took out takeouts. He arranged the food on a nearby table and encouraged me to eat.

I took a few bites, feeling a little better with each passing moment. But then, I couldn't help myself. I put down my food, reached out, and gently kissed Daniel's lips.

"I love you," I whispered, my voice barely audible.

Daniel's eyes locked onto mine, filled with a deep affection. He smiled, his lips curving upwards, and wrapped his arms around me, holding me close.
