Chapter 96
Chapter 96
Trey and Antonio excused themselves from downstairs to the privacy of Trey's study to have a long overdue conversation.
As they settled into their seats, Trey started the conversation by saying.
"You and your family are welcome to stay here throughout your stay."
"Thank you, it would be an honor," Antonio replied.
“So, how exactly did you and my wife come to know each other? If I’m not mistaken, you and your men attempted to abduct her on several occasions, despite the fact that I chose not to retaliate.” Trey asked.
“Yeah, you are right. I had sought revenge. I wanted an audience with you, but I couldn't get to you directly. So when I learned about your marriage, the only way I could get to you was through your wife. After monitoring her for some time.” Antonio then revealed.
“You must be aware that our previous boss and his family were killed here in this country,” he asked.
Trey nodded and admitted in a serious tone,
“I heard about the incident, but I didn't think it was significant at the time since it had happened before I took over.”
"True," Antonio said, nodding in understanding.
Trey connected the dots and asked Antonio,
"Did my grandfather have anything to do with it?"
If anyone was involved in the accident, it had to be his grandfather. It was the only logical explanation for why Antonio chose to oppose him in the first place—and why he later resorted to underhanded tactics to achieve his goal.
Antonio nodded, confirming Trey's suspicions.
"Yes, he instigated it. So, if I had you, I could get to your grandfather," Antonio answered.
Trey was surprised, but not entirely shocked. His grandfather had always been a bit shady, and it seemed that his past had finally caught up with him.
"Why didn't you take the chance when you got it then? Lisa was with you all those years," Trey asked curiously.
Although Antonio was married, he could tell that he cared about Martina a lot more than he was supposed to, and Trey didn't like it.
He wanted to be the only man to care about Martina. His possessiveness over her wasn't allowing him to think straight.
Antonio sighed and shook his head.
"At first, I thought I could use her to get to him. But when I found out who she was, I couldn't bring myself to do it anymore," Antonio replied.
Curious, Trey pressed on for more information.
“I'm intrigued; please enlighten me.”
“Lisa is the daughter of our late leader, Don Luis Castillo. Martina Luis Castillo. I thought she also died in the accident, but it turns out she survived. What's more, she had been by your side all along, the grandson of her parents' killer,” Antonio said.
Trey was taken aback by this revelation and couldn't find the words to speak. His heart was racing at the thought that Martina too could have died in the accident.
And is she with him because…
“Was she aware of this before returning?” Trey asked the question he dreaded.
He couldn't help but wonder if Martina was only with him out of her desire for revenge.
“No, she didn't, but she found out a few weeks ago,” Antonio reassured him.
However, Trey's anger and frustration boiled over at the news.
“Damn it!” He cursed and balled his hand into a fist, his knuckles turning white with rage.
The memory of his grandfather's words from the previous day echoed in his mind:
"I thought Lisa was someone else."
Which means his grandfather had recognized Martina as the surviving daughter and was planning to clean the mess left behind.
His heart skips at what might have happened if he had delayed in finding her.
“Thank you for staying by my family's side, Antonio. And also for misleading me," Trey said.
Antonio smirked and asked,
"You've figured it out?"
"Yes, I have. I didn't come for her because I thought she was indeed married. I didn't want to hurt her more than I already did," Trey replied.
Antonio nodded and said,
"I understand. I hated you back then, no offense. Your grandfather killed my fiancée's parents, and I also got to know you hurt her. I didn't want her thinking about you again."
Trey frowned and questioned,
"What do you mean fiancée?"
"Martina and I were engaged back when we were little," Antonio said. Looking at Trey's expression, he could see how angry Trey was with the news, and he couldn't help but smirk.
"But then, fate had other plans. Martina was made for you, Trey, and nothing could change that," Antonio added.
He stood up and continued, "I need to go and check on my lady now."
Trey nodded as Antonio left the study. He sighed and buried his face in the palms of his hands on the desk, lost in thought.
…~...
After a few minutes of silence, he heard a knock on the door, and with a hint of irritation creeping into his voice as he responded,
"What is it?"
However, instead of an answer, the door creaked open and Martina's head appeared in the doorway of the study.
"Are you busy?" she asked, noticing Trey's tense demeanor.
Trey quickly stood up upon catching sight of her and composed himself.
"Lisa… come in. I'm sorry, I didn't know it was you," he said, trying to hide the frustration in his voice.
As Martina approached him, she noticed the tension on his face and asked,
"What's wrong with you?"
Trey hadn't called her by her real name for a long while now, so the fact that he had used it now meant something was clearly bothering him. She thought.
Trey gazed down into Martina's eyes, his expression betraying his insecurity. He tentatively opened his mouth and asked.
“Lisa, there is something I want to ask you,” he said, gently embracing Martina, his arms encircling her waist, drawing her close to him.
His heart raced with anticipation as he summoned the courage to ask her the question that was weighing heavily on his mind.
Because he feared her response, he held her tightly, hoping that his embrace would be able to convince her to stay by his side if she decided to leave.
“Am I important to you? Are you comfortable with me? Do you love me like I do?” Trey asked in one breath.
Martina couldn't help but stare at his face, confused and at the same time feeling a rush of emotions wash over her as a soft smile spread across her face.
She had really missed him. She always knew he was alive.
She cupped his cheek softly.
Trey's question tugged at her heartstrings, and she could feel the insecurity in his voice.
"Because I do, I love you so much, Lisa," he said, his voice soft and gentle. "I love you so much; I'm afraid of losing you. About my grandfather, tell me what you want me to do, and I will..."
Trey trailed off as Martina shook her head and placed a finger on his lips, silencing him.
She gazed deeply into his eyes, her voice filled with emotions, and said.
"You mean the world to me, Trey. I love you dearly and cherish every moment we have spent together. I want you to know that I have never felt any displeasure with you, and I certainly don't want to lose you. You have been my companion since we were little; I can't imagine my life without you. Please don't ever doubt my love for you, okay?" She reassured him.
Trey was overwhelmed with emotions, and the urge to cry was almost unbearable. However, to his dismay, his eyes remained dry despite his efforts to let his tears flow.
He pulled Martina even closer to him, embracing her as tightly as he could.
"I love you more than words can express, Jade. You are the most important person in my life, and I will always be here to love and protect you," he whispered into her ear.
He gently pulled out of the hug and cradled her face.
Looking deeply into her eyes, he leaned in slowly and kissed her with a tenderness that spoke volumes about his love for her.
Martina responded to the kiss.
She wrapped her hands around Trey's neck, pulling him tightly to her. As the kiss deepened. She gasped when Trey bit her lower lip.
He dives his tongue into her mouth, tasting and exploring every corner; he loved the way Martina was trying to take charge of the kiss.
He tilted her head to have full access to her warm mouth.
Martina jumped, wrapping her legs around his waist. He used his hand to support her while the other gently caressed its way up her tits.
Martina's lips slowly parted from Trey's as she gasped for air to fill her lungs, her chest heaving up and down.
She leaned her head onto his shoulder, feeling the warmth of his body against hers, trying to steady her breath and calm her racing heart.
The moment was intense and passionate, and she couldn't help but feel a rush of emotions as she looked up at him and said, panting,
“Trey, I want more. I want to feel you inside me. I've missed you so much.
