Chapter Fifty-Eight| Oh Jason.

I had finally decided to have lunch with Marlene because under all this stress and shit that was currently happening, I thought I should at least get to know something about my brother's.

I rushed into the restaurant after talking to Jason who wouldn't stop calling every two hours.

"I hope I didn't keep you waiting long?" I said to her and she shook her head, getting up and giving me a hug which I didn't expect at all.

"It's alright, thank you for agreeing to meet me," she said excitedly and I smiled while taking my seat. "So how have you been? Your engagement and new position caught us all by surprise."

"You can thank Rick for that," I mumbled under my breath and she gasped leaning forward.

"The engagement too?" she asked softly and I nodded.

"All of it," I said emphasizing every word and she shook her head cursing inaudibly.

"Even your fiancé? Are you being forced to be with him?" she asked worriedly and I quickly shook my head.

"No, I'm with him because I want to. Nothing was forced there," I giggled, pushing my hair behind my ear and feeling a shiver crawl down my body.

"Oh then I'm happy, I was worried because I wouldn't want you to be trapped in a loveless relationship because of a baby," she said pointing to me and I frowned.

Jason and I had decided to keep the news of the pregnancy private until we solved the issue with Rick.

"Baby?" I squeaked out and she smiled nodding her head.

"You're pregnant aren't you? Or am I confusing the visible signs for something else?" she laughed nervously. "If you aren't then I'm sorry for being forward."

"How can you tell by just your eyes?" I asked shocked and she laughed.

"I've been pregnant three times, so I can tell," she said and I slowly nodded, allowing a smile to come over my features.

"Well then you have good eyesight, but we'd really appreciate it if you kept it to yourself," I said and she nodded in understanding.

"Of course, I just hope that I'll be allowed to stay around to see them grow," she said and I cocked my head to the side.

"Them?"

"I don't want to give it a gender, I can't tell if you're pregnant with more than one," she laughed and I laughed along with her.

"You almost gave me a heart attack!" I exclaimed holding my chest and we carried on laughing. "Talking about being trapped in a loveless relationship because of a baby, is that what happened between you and Rick?" I asked carefully and she took a sip of her wine before clearing her throat.

"Not at all, there was love, a lot of it but that all changed when both you and more money started coming in," she said and I nodded in understanding. "I tried to leave with you but he-"

"It's okay, you don't need to explain it to me," I smiled at her and she looked like she still wanted to explain. "Rick can be an asshole, I'm experiencing that firsthand."

"What is it that he wants from you?" she asked as she cut into her steak, somewhere in between our conversation we had ordered and our food had arrived.

"He just wants to prove a point, he can be quite childish when he doesn't get what he wants," I said and she barked out in laughter making me laugh too.

"That much is true, well I do hope whatever it is, you're able to get out of it."

"That's enough of Rick don't you think? Please tell me more about you and everything else."

"Well I met Matt a year after I separated with Rick, and we got married a year later. I would love to go into detail about us but I think you're more interested in your brother's. Caleb was our firstborn, he's nineteen this year, an absolute sports freak, he plays basketball and football, here he is," she showed me his picture and I was amazed!

His eyes were extremely a light shade of brown which he obviously didn't get from Marlene seeing that our eyes were the same colour, he had caramel skin, that he got from her, he was handsome and big, definitely a sports body.

"Wow, he's handsome," I said and she continued scrolling through his pictures, he had his own folder on her phone.

"I know right! And this is Joseph," she showed me his pictures and he looked just as Caleb did but he had a brush haircut different from Caleb who had short curly hair. "He's more into art and music, but he also plays basketball, he's fifteen this year."

"They're both so handsome, I can tell they're heartbreakers," I said jokingly and she laughed, shaking her head.

"Please, they're both soft teddy bears that look really mean, they got it from their father," she showed me a picture of the whole family together and just as I predicted, the sons resemble their father however he was darker with a chocolate colour, I guess she likes them like that.

"You have a beautiful family," I said gushing. "I would love to meet them one day if that's okay with you?"

"Do you even have to ask! I've told them all I could about you and I hope I don't come out creepy but I showed them pictures of you, both from the internet and the ones I took of you at that party," she said whispering out the last part.

"I mean it is creepy but totally understandable," I said laughing and she blushed. "I enjoyed myself with you," I admitted and her smile grew. "I would love to do this again, that's if you'd want to?"

"I'd love to, thank you."

We both got up from our chairs after she insisted on paying the bill and I insisted I will pay the next one. We walked outside the restaurant together and I was the one to hug her this time.

"One day I'll be able to call you mom but today I'm going to have to say thank you for the lunch Marlene," I said and she patted my back softly.

"That's okay, I know it will take time and I'm willing to wait for whenever you're ready," she said smiling.

"Well, there's my ride," I pointed to the driver Jason had assigned to me. "Jason's being extra careful with everything that's happening even though I'm well capable of doing certain things myself!" I said and she laughed, shrugging her shoulders.

"Men," I chuckled, shaking my head and I was about to get in the car before she called me. "That night, I heard your dad talking to some woman and they were having an argument. I heard her say that they only agreed to you getting the CEO position but they never agreed to the engagement. He threatened her and there were more things said but I didn't get everything. I think her name was something like Raquel, actually no he called her Roselle!" she said and I heaved out a breath, of fucking course. "Do you know her?"

"Very well, thank you for telling me this. Please greet your family for me," I said and she nodded smiling. I got in the car and asked the driver to take me to Jason's company.

Once I got there, I stormed my way into his office and wasn't the sight amusing, I would have laughed if I wasn't pissed.

There she was in her short dress leaning over the desk talking to Jason, who was leaning back every time she came closer.

"Baby!" He exclaimed, getting up from his seat and rushing over to me and hugging me tightly. "Thank God you're here, she's being weird again," he said in my ear before he pressed a kiss on my forehead.

"Where's my tablet, Rosie?" I asked and she stood up straight pulling her dress down which ended mid-thigh, it had a low cut neckline showing off her cleavage, which wasn't really seeable.

"What tablet, Amelia?" she asked innocently, cocking her head to the side.

"Don't play games with me, I know all about your meetings with Rick, must've been a surprise to hear the engagement wasn't it?" I said loving the reaction I was getting from her, her nose flared and she shifted her weight from one leg to the other.

"I don't know what you're talking about," she said and I passed Jason my handbag and he looked down on me confused.

"If you don't give me my tablet right at this second, not only will I drag your flat ass right across this office for flirting with my man countlessly when you know he's taken, I'll also make sure you don't get a job in the corporate world in this city, I can be ruthless like Rick, don't test me," I said giving her a hard look and she looked back at Jason.

"Sir," she whined.

"He won't help you, my tablet. Now," I said coldly and she bit her lip before walking around me and rushing out the office into hers. Within seconds she came back with my tablet not looking me in the eye.

"He made me do it," she said and I looked at her without a care in the world.

"You're fired, get out of here."

"You can't fire me, I don't work for you," she said trying to act confident and I looked at Jason who looked amused.

"I'm being nice with my words, Jason isn't such a sweetheart as you think he is. Now leave before he makes you do it," I said nodding to the door and she huffed, bringing her hands down and staring at me longer than I would want anyone besides Jason too.

"Now, Robbie," Jason said and I almost broke character with the laughter that was bubbling inside me. She released a strangled groan and stomped out of the office slamming his office door closed. "My my my, Lia, that was hot... and new," Jason said, placing my bag on his desk and wrapping his arms around my waist. "How'd you find out about the meetings with Rick?"

"Marlene," I shrugged and he dipped his head to my neck kissing it and obviously leaving hickeys as if I don't already have enough.

"You changed your hair," he said holding my braids in his hand and I gave him a sweet smile. "I love it," he said, nipping my chin and I groaned knowing what was coming next. "Maybe we should see how it looks like when I'm fucking you on my desk."

"Oh Lord," I said under my breath and he hoisted me up on his desk.

"Oh, Jason you meant."
