Chapter Fifty-Five| Miserable.

Amelia

I stared at my dad in shock as I registered everything he just said. What the fuck! When was this decision made and why wasn't I informed of it. Oh my gosh, Jason!

Turning my head to look at him, I saw his jaw clench and I immediately grabbed his hand. "I swear I didn't know of this," I whispered and he looked down at me shaking his head, does he not believe me?

"We'll talk about it later," he whispered back slowly, removing his hand from mine and clapping his hands while he gave me a hard look... he didn't believe me, again.

"Beyond that, I am honoured," Rick continued. "I've been given the privilege to announce my only daughter's engagement to a man that I trained, to a man that went on and opened his own business and became successful, to a man I already see as my son, Jason Daniels!"

"What the fuck," I said under my breath staring back at Jason and he looked as shocked as I was.

"Come up here," he said and we looked at each other before coming to the agreement of playing along to whatever his game is. I HATE THIS MAN!

We made it onto the stage and I stared at my father angry and disappointed. He responded to the look with one of his signature smirks before nodding to the mic with his head. I hope he dies. I don't care how but I really hope he does.

I took a deep breath in and quickly kissed Jason before walking over to the mic, what the hell am I going to say!

"I wasn't expecting all of this," I giggled nervously. "Finding out that I'm the newly appointed CEO to a company that my dad built with blood, sweat and tears had me in tears, and not only that," blood was definitely involved.

"Getting a marriage proposal from the love of my life made it an amazing day, it was as if they planned it," I said and looked back at my dad knowingly, still giving me his smirk I carried on talking.

"I don't want to bore you with a speech so I say enjoy this... triple party!" I turned and found my dad right behind me with his arms open wide.

I forced another smile on my face and stepped into his cold embrace, he patted my head as he spoke in my ear. "I'm going to ruin you, I'm going to ruin you both." He said threateningly in my ear and I tried to move away from his hug but he tightened his hold on me. "You should've just done what I asked you to," he released me and kissed my cheek smiling.

Jason wrapped his arm around my waist as I wiped my cheek, my dad chuckled and winked at us. "Congratulations on your engagement," he walked away from the stage and we did the same.

"What did he say to you?" Jason asked in my ear and I looked up at him before whispering out my answer as I saw people come closer to us, and the first one of the crowd was obviously...

"Amy!" she squealed, pulling me into her arms and rocking us both to the side. "Why didn't you tell me you got engaged to this beautiful specimen!"

"It was a surprise," I said, allowing a smile to come upon my features. There was no need to be cold towards Kiara, yes she was annoying at times but I guess that came with her personality.

"So was you, becoming the new CEO!" she said gasping and squealing before clapping her hands.

"A huge one," I agreed, oh you have no idea how surprised I am. Surprises are supposed to be things one gets excited over and very happy but I was angry that he'd go as far as lying to the public just to have his revenge or whatever he wants to call it, ruining.

"Well let me not keep you from the other people, but promise me that you'll allow me to help you with the wedding!"

"Uhhh, Jason's side of the family already has that covered," I said lying through my teeth causing him to look back at me shocked before clearing his throat and agreeing... would you look at that, I'm a liar just like my father is.

"Yes, they'll be flying here soon in preparation for the wedding," he said, smiling kindly at Kiara.

"Oh but the bride should always be involved in the planning of her own wedding," she said.

"Is it?" I asked, cocking my head to the side, still keeping my smile. "But since I know you really want to be involved, you can come dress shopping with us," I offered and she squealed, pulling me into another hug.

"Believe me, you're going to be a gorgeous bride!" she exclaimed in my ear causing me to flinch. "Oooh, I see someone I know, toodles babies," she said, blowing kisses and walking away from us.

"Really, how am I even going to get my family to come down here?" Jason asked me and I looked up at him shrugging.

"I don't know, hopefully, we'll figure out a way out of this before it gets to that part," I sighed, rubbing my forehead softly. "I'm hungry and tired," I said to him and he smiled.

"So when can we expect the wedding?" a reporter said already taking pictures of us together, fuck.

"Don't you think you're too young to be getting married, Amelia?" another reporter asked.

"How do you feel about your newly acquired position, do you think you deserve it?"

"Jason, how do you feel since your fiancée is now going to be a CEO just like you are, especially to a rival company?"

The questions started flying around and I groaned internally, how are we going to answer these questions if you don't give us time to!

"Woah there, we all want to know the details and believe us we will answer every question of yours at a press release which is happening tomorrow, so please, let the newly engaged couple enjoy their party," Rick said with his arm wrapped around my shoulder trying to come off as a caring father... please.

The reporters then left, leaving us with Rick.

"What game are you playing here, Rick?" Jason asked growling towards the end, which clearly had different reactions from both my father and me. While he smirked, I crossed my legs breathing out a sigh.

"It will all be revealed soon my dear children, only if your girlfriend was loyal enough then I wouldn't be going as far as I am right now," he chuckled while taking a sip of his drink. "Now, I'm going to make your lives miserable."
