Chapter 157 Miles and Victoria's talk 3
His hands left his pockets, and both of them grabbed her face, holding it as he kissed her passionately.
At first, Tori was still, unmoving. But before she realized it, her head was tilted backward, kissing him back.
The kiss lasted for almost ten seconds before they broke it off, with Miles pulling away so Tori, whose face was as red as a tomato, could breathe.
Whether it was from the lack of oxygen or from embarrassment, Tori wasn't sure. All she knew was that she felt hot.
"W... What was that?" she asked, her tone a light mix of shock and excitement.
Miles smirked, his thumbs gently caressing her cheeks. "I've been dying to do that since sophomore year, and I just wanted to shut you up." He muttered the last few words, his gaze returning to her lips again.
Her lips...
They looked so plump now, red and glossy.
It was almost as though they were begging him to kiss them again, and boy, did he want to concede.
But he couldn't.
Not yet, anyways.
"You've heard what I wanted, and that's it." He said, his eyes slowly leaving her lips and moving to her beautiful eyes.
"I don't want to care about anything else, and I don't want you to either."
Tori blinked.
That was... reassuring.
"Not even your life?" she asked, her tone skeptical.
"I love you more than my life."
Damn.
Tori's cheeks, which had only just begun to recover, turned red again.
Miles didn't normally speak like this, and Tori wasn't a blushing teenager, but... Damn. His voice.
As though he noticed what he was doing to her, Miles said it again in a tone just a bit lower.
"I love you, Tori."
Fuck.
Tori couldn't help but say it back.
"I love you too."
Miles practically beamed. His lips spread into a big smile, showing off his pearly white teeth. He leaned down to plant a kiss on Tori's cheek but pulled away before it could get any further.
"Okay, next agenda." He muttered.
Agenda?
"What?" Victoria joked. "You got, like, bullet points for this? Are you mentally ticking them off in your head?" she asked with a light chuckle. Again, for the second time, Miles still looked serious at the joke.
"You'd be surprised."
Wow.
Tori blinked.
He came prepared.
She opened her mouth to say something else, but then Miles spoke first, raising his finger to her lips to stop her from saying anything.
"Oh..." He looked around, and his eyes spotted a lady selling roses. He turned back to Tori. "Give me a second. Stay right here."
He emphasized the last three words, and Tori chuckled.
She understood why he acted that way.
Because of how many times she had left him hanging.
She had no intention of doing that now.
After deciding to tell Irene the truth today, she had mentally prepared herself for shouting and screaming and Irene blaming her, but instead of that, she got Miles.
Why would she leave?
Miles walked up to the old lady, who stretched out a rose to him as he got closer.
"A rose for your lady?" she asked, her tone a bit weak but excited all the same.
Miles nodded, his eyes scanning the roses the old lady had left.
"I'd buy a bouquet."
The old lady's face brightened.
"Oh, my young man, that's so sweet." She said, tying up the flowers for him.
She had thought she would go home with the remaining flowers since no one else seemed to want them. Then came a good Samaritan.
After packaging the roses for him, Miles dug his hand into his pocket, taking out a hundred-dollar bill.
"Keep the change."
The old woman collected it in shock. Before she could protest, he was gone.
Miles ran back to Victoria with the bouquet in hand.
She was facing the other side when he tapped her shoulder.
Tori turned quickly. "Miles, what are you...?"
The rest of the words disappeared as soon as her eyes landed on the beautiful bouquet stretched towards her.
She became even more shocked when Miles dropped to one knee.
A gasp left Tori's lips. Her hands flew to her mouth, and her eyes watered.
Miles smiled.
"Victoria Rogers, would you be my girlfriend?"
"Thank you for not saying my middle name. But are you sure about this?" Tori said with a small chuckle. This time, Miles laughed as well.
Then her eyes dropped to the bouquet, and then to Miles. An image of her father flashed in her head.
She wasn't even sure what her old man would have wanted because, as it turned out, she didn't know him at all.
Then... she thought of something else.
"Like you said, we'd be off to college, and I know we didn't pick the same ones." She said, voicing out her thoughts.
"I can always reapply." Miles responded as though it was the easiest thing ever. "Unlike Nelson, I'm not going to an Ivy League college because my parents are grooming me to take over the company, so yeah."
He didn't seem annoyed or angry about that fact, which was definitely true.
If anything, Miles sounded like he was grateful not to be the first son of his father.
It gave Tori confidence.
"Yes." She replied, bobbing her head up and down as she collected the flowers from his hand.
They had already kissed and confessed their love for each other. All that remained was the label.
"Miles Sanchez, I would be your girlfriend."
Miles stood up with a bright smile.
He wrapped his arms around Tori and lifted her up, twirling her around in the air as she giggled, holding onto his arm for support.
Tori laughed as Miles finally put her down.
He seemed so happy.
"Since you've done what you wanted to do for the past three years..." she said with a small giggle, adjusting the collar of his shirt, which, of course, was still perfect. Tori then looked up at him, her expression turning mischievous. "Let's do what I wanted to do for the past two."
They had only just gotten together, and she still had her father's issue to deal with. She might as well be disowned...
But with Miles, everything came easy.
Standing on her tiptoes, Tori pecked Miles' lips.
"Invite." She muttered, pecking him again.
"Me." And again.
"To." And again.
"Your. House."
At first, Miles looked shocked. He had barely gotten her to admit her feelings towards him.
Then he thought...
Maybe we're moving too fast.
But as soon as he saw the look in her eyes, that thought vanished. He bobbed his head up and down in agreement.
"Yes, ma'am." He then grabbed her hand. "Let's go."
