Chapter 151 It's my dad

Chapter 151 It's my dad
All Irene wanted was to change the future, at least change the ending for her and Nelson. But now, she was only beginning to realize that what if she changed a bit too much?

What if she did change what she wanted, but someone had to pay the price for it?

But why should that someone be someone she knew? Why not anyone else in the world?

Irene couldn't help but wonder as she sat alone on a bench in the park, a solemn expression on her face.

She was supposed to be happy at the moment. She and Nelson had finally gotten together after everything they had been through.

They should have been celebrating. But instead, he was back at the hospital, and she was at a park not too far from it, lost in thought.

A sigh left Irene's lips. She blinked, looking up.

She couldn't help but feel guilty about what was happening to Luna, even though there was a huge chance that it wasn't her fault.

"Irene!"

Irene heard someone call her name, and she turned to look, only to see Tori walking towards her.

"There you are."

Yeah. Tori.

She had called Irene almost ten minutes ago while she was at the hospital. She said she had something urgent and important to tell her.

That was the reason she left Nelson and his cousin to come here.

Irene stared at Tori, trying to force herself to smile at her best friend, but it wasn't working.

Tori huffed as soon as she got to where Irene was seated, then she dropped into the space next to her.

Turning to face her, she spoke again. "I heard about what happened to Luna. Is she alright?"

"Yeah, she's stable," Irene answered skeptically.

That had happened less than fifteen minutes ago. How did she hear about it already? She wanted to ask, but then remembered that although Tori and Nelson didn't date, they had gotten close.

So she kept her mouth shut regarding that.

"But the doctor said she shouldn't be involved in anything strenuous," she said, her voice low and sad.

The doctor had intervened and Luna was calmed down, but they warned that she shouldn't yell or stress herself in any way.

Irene heard Tori sigh before shaking her head.

"I can't believe she had cancer," Victoria said. "She barely showed it when I was back at their place. She was amazing."

Irene paused.

"Wait, you knew?"

She wasn't expecting that.

"Yeah." Tori nodded. "I found out that she had it a few days before the dance. I just didn't expect it to come back so soon."

Oh...

Irene blinked. She wanted to look away when she heard Tori's voice again.

"In that futuristic vision you saw," she began.

Irene closed her eyes. She could already guess what her best friend wanted to ask about.

"Did you see her? Was she alright?"

"Tori?" Irene gave Tori a look.

That was the downside to telling people that you've seen the future and having them believe you. They would want to know what happened.

But Irene wasn't sure about what she saw, especially not now when she was changing the outline of things.

She didn't want to seem like a liar if things eventually didn't work out.

"What?" Victoria looked away. "I don't want anything to happen to her, so I just want to know if anything does."

"I don't know anymore." Irene tried to explain. "A few things have changed, and..."

Tori couldn't take it anymore.

"Stop talking. I don't want to hear it again." She said, shaking her hand in front of Irene's face. "I trust her. She's strong. She'll make it through."

Yeah.

She was strong.

Victoria looked up at Irene. Now that Luna's talk was over, it made her remember why she had called Irene over.

Guilt washed over her face.

"Irene, look..." she began, only to be interrupted by Irene, who was looking over her shoulder.

"Wow... Look who it is," Irene exclaimed with a small smile.

"Who is..." Tori turned around.

It was him.

Miles.

He was dressed in an all-black outfit, and his long blonde hair was let loose, flowing with the wind. The one earring in his ear dazzled.

As usual, he was stunning.

He walked up to them with a smirk on his lips.

"Hey, girls," Miles greeted, then his eyes landed on Victoria. "Hey, Tori."

He took in her simple outfit. A blue shirt and jeans. Her short hair was tied in a low ponytail.

The lady who had been messing with his head for the past few weeks with his estranged she was getting.

Tori waved awkwardly at him. "Hi."

"What are you girls doing out here?" Miles asked, starting a conversation as though he was talking to both of them, but his eyes were fixed on Irene. "I thought you weren't allowed to leave the house if you weren't going to school."

Irene blinked.

She had forgotten how surprising it was for Tori to leave her house, and not just that, but to come to the park alone.

"Yeah, I was about to ask the same thing." She said, nodding her head while also turning to look at Victoria. "Why did you call me out?"

"Wait, don't tell me you rebelled against your parents and they kicked you out of the house." Irene joked, and Miles chuckled. "If they did, you're welcome to stay with me indefinitely."

Tori wanted to laugh too. Only, what she wanted to say wasn't funny.

"I did rebel, but..." She paused, suddenly feeling nervous as she looked between the two pairs of eyes fixed on her.

"That's not why I called you out here."

Neither Irene nor Miles spoke, giving Tori the chance to continue.

She swallowed again, rubbing her palms against her jeans.

"Em..." Tori turned to look at Irene while trying and failing to ignore Miles' gaze on her.

She didn't expect anyone else to be here apart from Irene, but she couldn't tell Miles to leave. It would be making too big of a deal about it. He was going to find out anyway.

"Did you ever find out why that stalker was at the school in the first place? Or why he beat up Donald?" she asked, her voice going lower after each word.

Irene thought for a second before shaking her head.

"No, I didn't."

All she knew was that he was somehow involved with Lawrence, but she wasn't too sure about that. It wasn't much to go on, and that was a future that might never happen, so she didn't know.

Irene added, "But I thought that maybe Donald must have caught him without his mask, and the killer never lets anyone leave after seeing his face."

"Wow," Victoria nervously exclaimed. "You're close."

Irene's eyes narrowed. She had been trying to ignore Tori's suspicious behavior, but she couldn't do it anymore.

"Why do you ask?"

Tori blinked, then her gaze dropped.

"I'm sorry, Irene." Her voice broke, which caught both Miles and Irene by surprise. "I'm sorry for everything that happened."

"Hey, what's wrong?" Miles asked in confusion. "What happened?"

Tori fiddled with her fingers, her vision getting blurry as tears clouded her eyes.

"It's my dad."

"What?"

"My dad was the one who hired the... the stalker."
