Chapter 28 ~ The college fest
Chapter 28 ~ The college fest
The laughter and warmth of the gathering at Mia's house filled the air as the conversation continued. After Vivaan and Ahana had shared their love story, the curiosity in the room only grew. Everyone wanted to hear more details about the college fest and the trip where love had silently bloomed between them. Vaani, always the one to cherish such moments, smiled mischievously before nudging Ahana to continue.
"Come on, Ahana, don't leave us hanging. We need the details!" Vaani insisted, making everyone chuckle.
Ahana sighed, shaking her head at Vaani's enthusiasm, but her eyes sparkled with the memories of the trip. "Alright, alright! Since you all are so eager, let's go back to that unforgettable time."

The Hampton University annual college fest was one of the most awaited events of the year. Students from all courses came together to celebrate, compete, and create lifelong memories. This particular year was no different. The campus was transformed into a carnival of lights, music, and vibrant decorations. Stalls were lined up, filled with food, games, and unique performances. The excitement was palpable in the air.
Vivaan and Ahana had always been close, but during this fest, something changed between them. It was subtle at first-a stolen glance here, a lingering touch there. The unspoken feelings between them started becoming clearer with each passing event.
One of the biggest highlights of the fest was the treasure hunt, a thrilling game that had participants running across campus, solving riddles and overcoming challenges. Vivaan and Ahana were paired together by sheer luck-or perhaps fate. The moment their names were announced together, Ahana playfully rolled her eyes.
"Looks like I'm stuck with you for the next few hours," she teased, nudging Vivaan's arm.
He smirked. "You say that as if it's a bad thing."
The game started with a clue that led them to the library, then the football field, and eventually to the rooftop of their department building. With every clue they solved, they found themselves getting closer, not just physically, but emotionally. The tension between them was undeniable, but neither of them was ready to acknowledge it yet.
The final challenge led them to the auditorium, where they had to dance together as part of the game. It was a slow, romantic tune, and as Vivaan placed his hands gently around Ahana's waist, she felt her heartbeat quicken. They moved in sync, eyes locked, as if the rest of the world had faded away. It was in that moment that Ahana realized she had fallen for him.
Later that night, when the treasure hunt was over and they had celebrated their victory with the team, Ahana found herself alone on the rooftop, staring at the night sky. Vivaan joined her, his usual playful demeanor subdued.
"What's on your mind?" he asked softly.
Ahana hesitated before speaking. "This fest... it feels different this year. Everything feels different."
Vivaan exhaled, leaning against the railing beside her. "Yeah, it does. And I think we both know why."
Ahana turned to face him, and for the first time, she didn't shy away from the truth. "Vivaan, I... I think I like you. More than a friend should."
A slow smile spread across his face as he took her hand in his. "Good. Because I've been waiting to hear that for a long time."

As Ahana finished her story, the room fell into a hushed silence, everyone enchanted by the simplicity and beauty of their journey.
"Oh my god, that was so romantic!" Mia gushed, holding her hands to her chest.
Vivaan chuckled. "Yeah, well, I had to work hard to get this one to admit her feelings."
Ahana playfully smacked his arm. "Oh please, you were just as nervous as I was."
Vaani, who had been quietly absorbing every word, finally spoke. "It's funny how love finds us in the most unexpected moments. Whether it's through a college fest, a trip, or even a simple dance."
The sentiment hung in the air, and for a brief moment, everyone reflected on their own journeys of love. The past had shaped them, the present connected them, and the future held promises of many more moments to come.
As the lunch continued, the warmth of friendship and love lingered in the air, weaving its own unforgettable tale.
Mia sat among her friends and family, laughter echoing around the table as they reminisced about the past. The lunch at her house had been a lively affair, with stories of their college days still fresh in the air. However, as the conversations unfolded, Mia suddenly felt a wave of dizziness wash over her.
Her vision blurred momentarily, and she placed a hand on the table to steady herself. Rudraksh, who had been keenly observing her, immediately noticed the shift in her expression. Concern flickered across his face as he reached for her.
"Mia? Are you okay?" his voice was laced with worry.
Mia blinked rapidly, trying to shake off the sudden lightheadedness. "Yeah, I think I just need some water," she muttered, attempting to dismiss the feeling.
Before she could stand, Rudraksh placed a firm hand on her shoulder, gently guiding her back into her seat. "Stay here. I'll get the water."
But before he could move, Mia's dizziness intensified, and her head tilted forward. She felt an odd sense of detachment, as though her body was not entirely her own. The voices around her became muffled, and then everything turned dark.
\---
When Mia opened her eyes, she was lying on her bed, the familiar scent of her room grounding her back to reality. Rudraksh was beside her, his brows furrowed in deep concern. Vivaan, Ahana, and the rest of her family stood close, worry evident in their expressions.
"What happened?" Mia's voice was hoarse as she tried to sit up.
Rudraksh pressed a gentle hand against her shoulder, stopping her. "You fainted," he said softly. "We called the doctor. He should be here any minute."
Just as he finished speaking, the door opened, and the doctor walked in with his medical bag. He moved to Mia's bedside, checking her vitals and asking a few questions. The examination was thorough, and everyone in the room remained silent, watching anxiously.
After a few moments, the doctor stepped back and sighed. "Her vitals are normal, but I believe she is under a lot of mental stress. Have you been experiencing any troubling thoughts, Mia?" he asked, his voice gentle.
Mia hesitated. There were things in her past-things she had locked away, things she had chosen to forget. But even as she tried to suppress them, the nightmares sometimes came back, leaving her breathless in the middle of the night.
Rudraksh, ever perceptive, caught the flicker of emotion in her eyes. "Doctor, what should we do?" he asked.
The doctor sighed. "Mia's condition is delicate. She has made significant progress in her recovery, but any mention of her past trauma could cause serious repercussions. I strongly advise that you do not bring up anything from her past. If she remembers on her own, let it be natural. Forcing it could be dangerous."
The room fell into a heavy silence. Rudraksh clenched his fists, his mind racing with worry. He had always known that Mia's past haunted her, but hearing it confirmed by the doctor made it feel even more real.
Mia, on the other hand, felt a sense of unease settle in her chest. Not remembering everything about her past gave her an odd sense of detachment, as if a piece of her life was missing. But the fear in everyone's eyes made her reconsider. Perhaps it was better this way.
The doctor gave a few instructions about Mia's health before leaving. Rudraksh turned to Mia, his voice low but firm. "You need to rest. No arguments."
Mia knew better than to argue with him when he was in protective mode. She gave a small nod and let her head rest against the pillow.
Vivaan and Ahana exchanged a glance before speaking. "Mia, we're here for you, okay? No matter what."
Mia smiled faintly. "I know."
As the rest of the family slowly left the room, Rudraksh remained behind. He sat beside her, taking her hand in his. His grip was warm, grounding her. "I'll be here," he whispered.
Mia squeezed his hand, allowing herself to drift off to sleep, knowing she was safe in his presence.
