Whispers of Briar Ridge

It started with a scream and the smell of smoke. A house on fire. A teenage boy arrested. Another body found hours later with a knife in his chest. In a Southern town that hadn't seen a conviction in over twenty years, two crimes in one night was practically an apocalypse. That same night, Elijah Ward—once a top-tier defense attorney in New York—drove past the town's faded welcome sign, returning to a place he swore he'd never step foot in again. He wasn't back for justice. He wasn't back to help. He was back for his daughter… and a secret he buried ten years ago. But when he’s pulled into defending two boys from opposite sides of town—one rich, one poor—both claiming innocence in cases that seem open and shut, he realizes the truth isn’t just buried… it’s protected. As Elijah digs deeper, the town’s past claws its way into the present. The courtroom becomes a battlefield. Every witness lies. Every motive twists. And someone wants him gone before he uncovers what this town really hides.
