Chapter 152 152. Breathe

Chapter 152 152. Breathe
Once alone, Isolde finally spoke. "That pompous shit head, he thinks he can just kill all the mundanes. What an absolute power-hungry psychotic piece of shit." Isolde railed. She was pissed. How could Malachi go back and forth on the issue of Mundanes?

"It will be alright; let's focus on Ashford and his merry band of creatures, then we can handle Malachi, like you wanted to," Drake said. He never thought he was reasonable, selfish, self-righteous, sure, but he seemed to have become the voice of reason in this relationship.

Not entirely thinking he could fight a dragon with a makeshift spear, but out of the two of them, he was the one who kept his head. If anything, Isolde having ruined her core had made him grow up. Or maybe it was having to see her lying still in a bed for a year in a coma. Either way, out of the two of them, he didn't fly off the handle.

"We should get Felix, Hugo, and Lydia in here. I want to know what has been going on because I doubt Malachi told us everything. I hate that guy!" She continued getting worked up. "And what is Adele doing here? I may have let her off the hook, but I don't trust her." Isolde snapped, not at Drake, just the empty room they were in.
"Yeah, I don't know why she is here either, nor her husband."

"Her husband?"

"Yeah, they got married while you were in a coma."

"She isn't an adult in the arcane world; how?"

That was true; Isolde and Drake were married based on old craft laws, laws that defied regular social norms. An adult in the Arcane World was older than the 18 years it took to be considered an adult among the mundanes. "I would assume they got caught sleeping together; remember the way my mother freaked out when we had the door shut?"

Yes, Isolde did remember that; it was stupid, but also she understood it. Sex apparently was only for marriage, though she and her best friend Lydia didn't. Why should anyone tell someone what to do with their body? "I guess they were improper, and either they got caught or she got knocked up. But as she has no baby, I would say they got caught hooking up or something."

"That doesn't explain why she is here in our home?" Her voice was rising again. Her anger seemed to be getting worse. "We will call our friends, but, love, you need to breathe."

"Don't tell me to fucking breathe, Drake." She snapped, but she felt instant regret. "Sorry, I'm just so mad; I don't want to take it out on you." She said, her voice deflating a bit. Drake came in close. Both his hands ran up her arms.

Contact helped the most. "I know, love, I know, but hey, we have a fire-breathing beast on the lawn you want to wreak havoc, then we can do that, but not on each other, and not yet on Malachi." He said, soothing her. The promise of impending violence was somewhat reassuring.

"I can't fucking believe Ben got off with nothing." She hissed at him, not bothering to speak in split-tongued. "Yeah, that is ridiculous. He assaulted you; if he had left you alone, you wouldn't have even done it." Isolde nodded, leaning more into him. The contact was helping her mind calm.

"I hate them all, I hate everyone but you." She hissed again. He smirked, knowing it wasn't true. Isolde liked some people, but the list was small. Not to mention she wasn't all violence and savagery. She didn't want all the mundane to die. She didn't want war, though they both were thick of it now.

She raised her head, angling it back. Drake knew what she wanted. She wanted him to kiss her, and kiss her he did. Their tongues tangled and she grabbed at his black hair. Isolde wanted him. She wanted relief, and coming together with Drake was fantastic on her nerves, which were fried.

Drake liked it. That she used his body as refuge, she began pulling at his top, and his hands were already removing her clothes. "Oh fuck" He groaned into her mouth when his hands found her core, wet for him. "You want me, love." He hissed it was intimate, them speaking in split-tongued to one another; it was something only the two of them understood, and it forged their connection. "Yes, Drake. Please." The please did it to him.

He melted under her soft plea. She moved to lie down on one of the couches in the empty room with Drake crawling on top of her after he finally removed his pants. He thrust into her as his mouth kept kissing her. They were in their home; neither of them particularly cared that they were not in their suite.

Just that they were together in their castle, neither thought it was shameful or wrong; if anything, they were close to their room. Drake's parents tried to give them space; it was socially encouraged for newly married young couples to have space. While Cassius and Milicent lived by this, the rest of the guests at Thorne Castle didn't follow that social norm.

The Castle was packed with guests, refugees from what was happening in the arcane world. Outside the closed door of the parlor, Lydia smiled hearing the two of them, but she didn't linger; she kept moving. In another room, Adele condemned what she knew was going on in the parlor that Drake and Isolde were fully occupying at the moment.

"It is disgusting; they have a room; the whole castle doesn't need to hear them," Adele said. Lydia sat down, and Hugo snorted at her. "This is their home; they can do whatever they want, wherever they want, Adele. Besides, you are a guest; it is rude to condemn the host of your safety."

Felix added, "Yeah, what Hugo said. You shouldn't be like that; they are married, and it isn't a surprise. She has been in a coma for a year; why wouldn't they be fucking like rabbits, making up for lost time." Lydia sneered at her former friend. "You shouldn't be one to talk about impropriety, Adele."

Adele frowned; she had fallen out with her once-close friends. It was like she was looking at different people from the ones she had known since childhood. A stark contrast; how had it come to this? She knew why, but she hated it.
