Chapter 149 149. Wake Up
Chapter 149 149. Wake Up
Drake woke to Isolde's body, half-draped across him. She was sleeping, her white hair peacefully fanned out on his chest. He was so comfortable. He had no idea how long Isolde and he had slept. He hadn't even known how the two of them had gotten back to their room. It was dark outside, so either a full day had come and gone, or it hadn't been a long rest.
He wasn't tired anymore, so he assumed they had slept all day, and it was night now. He let out a long sigh, feeling better than he had in days. He still couldn't believe they were alive. Drake smiled to himself; he had fought a dragon with a makeshift spear he crafted from a wielded branch.
He couldn't help but laugh at it. It was so stupid to do that, but he was alive; he was in bed with Isolde. They had won, and now they had the biggest, baddest creature one could have, and it was controlled by the two of them. Drake thought on it.
He knew Isolde didn't have to force the dragon to comply with Drake's command. He didn't invade its mind as Isolde had. He hadn't wielded dark craft to force its mind to submit to him. Isolde had; he had just been an idiot and tried to kill it. It was comical to think about with a clearer head.
Isolde began to stir. "What is so funny, Drake?" She asked, not moving or opening her good eye. She had not put the glass eye back in after their shower. She had been too tired, and everyone knew it was glass, realistic enough but fake all the same. Drake had told her it didn't bother him; in fact, he generally preferred when she wore an eye patch, but she didn't have one on either, and that was fine to him.
"I was such an idiot; you know the spear I used."
"Yeah, where did you get it, by the way? You didn't have it at all in the Whispering Woods."
"I made it; I wielded craft and made the thing."
Isolde snorted. "That is why you took so long."
"Yeah, sorry about that, fuck, so stupid."
"No, it worked perfectly. The thing needed to be distracted; I had to touch it to get control of its mind. The Dragon's mind had a layer to it, much like its scales; I had to break through it, but I had to touch it to do it. If you didn't distract it, you'd be eaten, and I would still be there."
"Wait, what? Why would you still be there and not dead too?"
"Silvee wanted me to be part of her horde; she had made Lucifer part of it too."
"That's weird."
"Tell me about it. No matter, we are home, in bed, safe, and I, for one, feel much better. Hey, any idea how we got to our bed?"
"I'd assume we were levitated here; the last thing I remember was a bite of soup, then sleep." Isolde had the same thing happen, too. "Should we get up and go eat and fill Malachi in? I am sure he is desperate for the news."
Drake moved around so now he was on top of her, looking down at her. His body lying on top of hers, his erection now pushing against his pants. "He can wait; I want you. It's been days, and if you recall, I have only had you a few times in a year; I need to make up for lost time."
Isolde and Drake had not coupled while in the whispering woods, both too alert of that. On edge, searching for what Malachi wanted. Besides the sex they had before they left for their little mission, they hadn't been all that intimate, on account of her being in a coma for a year. Isolde blushed at his words.
He really had waited so long and patiently for her; it was endearing, she thought. Her core moistened when he pulled down her top and licked her nipple, making her shudder. Her back arched into him as his hands took off her bottoms. It was slow and intense, the two of them coming together. Their bodies wanting the other desperately. Afterward, the two fell right back to sleep, content, happy to be alive.
The morning came, and the two of them sought out the other bodies again, taking time to reacquaint themselves with the intimacy and then dressing. Drake was looking smug, flirting with her, spit-tongued. He kept it up all the way to breakfast. Felix commented, "Fuck, you two never change, do you?" He said. Isolde smiled; it seemed like an age since she saw her friend. Hugo was there too, with his arm slung around Felix.
Lydia bounced down the hall. Isolde was happy to be up and walking, recovered from the state she had been in when she last saw her best friend. She rushed to her friend, hugging her; happy Lydia was safe too. Isolde and Drake both knew what was coming: war was coming, and they were the main targets to be taken down.
They didn't know the latest updates since the last time they read the paper, in which they were named notorious. "Girl, you're insane, two dragons now." Isolde blushed at the comment, the reference to Drake and his namesake, meaning "dragon." "Though I think you prefer riding one over the other," Lydia said, making Isolde laugh.
She missed her. "You look good for a year in a coma, then fighting, then being lost in something, not to mention the whole creature riding and burning keepers."
Isolde smiled. She knew shit was about to hit the fan. She didn't know how bad it would be, but she was here now with her friends from school. Her family was in Thorne Castle. Everything seemed a little less daunting when she looked around, seeing her friends. She noticed Adele peeking out behind a wall. Her eyes snapped to her, and she hid.
"Lydia, what is she doing here?" She asked her best friend. Lydia couldn't give her an answer because Malachi came strutting in, looking at the now-awake forms of Drake and Isolde, both clean and rested. "Finally," he said, " I'm ready for answers." Lydia looked at Isolde, her eyes saying I will fill you in later.
