Chapter One Hundred Three

***Faye***

After sleeping in and eating a quick breakfast with Scorpius, I feel more refreshed than I have in a long time. I haven’t seen Kautious or Hadrian today, but Scorpius suggests I work on my nesting room, which probably means I shouldn’t worry. When I am done eating, I make my way up to my nesting room, standing in the doorway and staring at the few items I have in place and the pile of stuff I need to get in place. When they brought in the mattress the day we went shopping, I had them make sure it was soft side facing up. I also added some nice deep black silk sheets to it. I have several blankets all around the outside edge of the mattress, forming a barrier-type thing. I have at least 6 pillows and 3 good blankets to cover with and snuggle. I need to add some of my mate’s clothing though, because right now it’s feeling a bit empty. I also have a modern-style rocking chair in a soft gray in the corner with a stuffed wolf that Scorpius got me and the baby blanket I chose draped over the back of it. I can’t help but smile as I see the tiny blanket. I can’t wait for our pup to be here. I want to hold them in my arms and show them how truly loved they are. I still have almost 5 and a half months to go, but I already feel like I couldn’t live without my pup.

Shaking my head, I look around my room again. There’s something missing. I guess it’d be nice to have some frames on the wall of my loved ones. But I think what I’d like most for now is to take family photos with my mates and get them printed on a canvas. I blush at the thought of it. I wonder if that’s something they’d even be willing to do. I make my way to the side table I have in here and reach into the tiny drawer. I’ve been working on some personalized things for my mates that I hope they’ll like. I want them to all feel loved and appreciated. I sit in my rocking chair and take out the little personalized things I’m working on.

A few hours have passed and I can feel my stomach growl. But the one thing that is still on my mind is wanting that family picture with my mates. I’m sure they wouldn’t mind. Would they? I sigh, getting up from my chair and making my way to Hadrian’s office, gently rubbing my belly as I walk. When I get there, I see him and Scorpius in what seems like a heated discussion. A sheepish smile crosses my face as my hand stills on my belly and I knock on the door. Both of their heads whip to me and my smile widens as Hadrian gestures for me to step into the office. I sit in the chair in front of his desk and look down at my hands for a moment until Hadrian speaks, “What brings you here Faye? Is everything okay?” I nod and look at him with a small smile, “Everything is fine. I was working in my nesting room and doing some thinking. I really like the gesture Scorpius made by hanging those photos for Kautious in his room. But now that I think about it, my walls feel a little empty. And I was just wondering… if maybe… we could take some family pictures for me to… I don’t know… maybe print on a canvas to hang up?” Scorpius sends me a big smile as he slowly stands, “I think that’s a great idea Faye. It would also be nice to have some around the house!” I beam at his suggestion and turn to Hadrian, “So what do you think?” He nods his head slightly, “I like the idea, but we need to talk to Kautious to double-check if he wants to.”

I look around and give a confused look, “Where is Kautious anyway?” Hadrian is the one to answer me, “He felt like he needed to confirm the twins were okay after going through 2 ruts at once. He went to the doctor this morning. He should have been back by now, though. I’ll mind link him and see where he is. Sorry, I got caught up in the work I have to catch up on.” I shake my head, “I’ll find him. Both of you focus on your work. I’ll be back.” I get up and leave the office, making my way down the the kitchen slowly. Once I reach the bottom of the steps, I decide to mind link Kautious. I focus on him and open the link, “Kautious?” Almost immediately, I hear his reply, “Faye? Are you okay? Is everyone else alright?” I sigh before answering him, “We are fine, sweetie. I was wondering where you were. Hadrian said your doctor’s appointment was this morning. It’s nearing dinner time now, and you still aren’t home. Are you okay?” I can practically feel his panic, “Shit, I lost track of time! Rollie came with me to the appointment, and we saw the little beans and heard their heartbeats today. Everything is fine. We went for ice cream after then I came with him to see Jack and I just lost track of time. I’m sorry.” I chuckle softly, “It’s okay. I was going to start dinner, but do I need to come and get you?” He takes a moment to reply, so he must be talking. I suddenly hear him again as I get into the kitchen, “No, Rollie said he’ll walk me back! Want me to help with dinner when I get home?” I smile at the thought of spending time with my mate. It feels like it’s been forever, honestly, since we’ve had any one-on-one time. I jump slightly, realizing I forgot to answer him, “That would be lovely. It feels like it’s been a minute since you and I have had a moment alone.” Kautious chuckles, “I agree. I’ll see you soon, love.” Then he cuts the link off and I start pulling out ingredients to cook a meal for all my mates.

A few minutes later, I hear the front door open and I make my way out of the kitchen towards it. I greet Rollie and thank him for walking Kautious home as Kautious runs over to me and envelopes me in a hug, smiling back at Rollie and telling him goodnight. Kautious and I make our way to the kitchen, and he sees the ingredients on the counter, “What are we making?” I hum, “I was thinking chicken alfredo with some steamed broccoli and maybe some cupcakes for dessert?” He beams at me, leaning in to kiss my cheek gently, “That sounds perfect!” We get to work on dinner, talking about small things and laughing like it’s our last chance.
